Soulblaze is garbage. After taking a wound, roll a d6. 4+, take d3 flamer hits.
>>
>>44365011
But it's gonna be hard for GW and they'll probably fail because Sanguinus is supposed to be able to slay Horus and Angron to without much difficulty.

99% they'll drop the ball.
>>
Hey lads,

I'm looking to make a mech IG army (using mordian iron guard). I've never played 40k before but my basic vision is the army to consist of 3-5 squads of infantry mounted in chimeras and supported by leman russ's, basilisks and other armour. Id like to avoid flyers if possible, if the army is competitive that's cool, but I'm mainly keen on keeping a ground mech force.

Two questions are: what type of leman russ should I be using? I figured vanquisher as my armys anti armour element And how should the list roughly look? Aiming for 1800 points.

I want to live in the universe where hairy little bikers with battle trains and zeppelins are a power race and we all use "Eldared" as a euphemism for removing stuff from the game.
>>
>>44365110
So, useless against anything but 2W shit? Or does it 'spread' to other units?

And if you were the guy who said what Blind does, then what does Fear do? I thought it was make WS1 on Ld fail. But if Blind does that too... Then it's useless. I suppose it'll mean you've got two chances at forcing your opponent to WS1. I wonder if anybody has made a conversion yet. Lightsaber with neon lightning would be cool.

>>44365156
Where did it say this? I thought the fluff said only he, Girlyman and Horus could 1v1 Angron when he was in fury mode. Sanguinius wasn't Warmaster cause of the wing thing and because Emperor tested Horus at Ullanor.

Aim for 1850 points, thats the standard.
What kind of tanks you bring depends on the rest of your list; what role you need them to fill.

Soul blaze is on the unit, not model. It doesn't spread at all you just keep rolling 4+ to deal d3 flamer hits on the unit affected (but if you roll a 1-3 it goes away entirely). Its useless because it almost never does any damage

Soul blaze is pretty meh, but if it comes as part of the model or wargear, it's basically a free chance to do a bit of extra damage which is never a bad thing. Now if you had to pay for it, fuck that noise
>>
>Where did it say this? I thought the fluff said only he, Girlyman and Horus could 1v1 Angron when he was in fury mode.

As well as Sanguinus and Ferrus Manus. Sanguinus was on Horus's level in terms of fighting, I think Horus even said that he didn't want to fight Sanguinus because he very well might beat him.

> Sanguinius wasn't Warmaster cause of the wing thing and because Emperor tested Horus at Ullanor.

Horus later claims that it should have been Sanguinus.

>The trinary stars of the Nephrekh crownworld glow golden upon the burnished shoulders of its legions. Rich in the solar wealth of scores of systems, the Nephrekh’s worlds cluster around the galactic core, its radiant brilliance filling the skies of their tomb worlds with a near-limitless supply of energy. From this golden chalice of flame the warriors of Nephrekh drink deep and grow strong.

>Phaeron Sylphek awoke consumed by an obsession with the stars themselves, announcing to his bemused court he wished to drape himself in their molten glory. To placate their lord, the Crypteks of the Nephrekh crafted him a living-gold skin – a gift he has shared with his followers so that they might embody the glory of the triple suns of Nephrekh as they do battle.

It's a reference to the generous and kind Necrons of Nephrekh and their Phaeron.

>better jump right to 1850
>YOLO

not just you newguy but half of every new player comes in here asking how to make way too big of a list for their first army.

What if the army isn't what you want to play at all?

What if games are too long and drawn out for you to learn properly?

You are piling on different tables and special rules setting yourself up to be overwhelmed.

My first army was orks, I went right to 1250 and noped the fuck out for some Dark Angels.

At 1850 every IG I see runs the Pask in Punisher and his two Executioner buddies for good coverage.

Are you specifically going against a lot of armour that you are looking to stack so much of it?

Like in summer when my hands aren't fumbly pieces of shit
>>
>>44366546
It makes it less awkward in some cases.

But let's just hope my Tau actually get here. It's an online order and Wayland are known for being very hit-or-miss. It's been almost a week and they haven't even received the stock yet to ship.
>>
>>44366338
not really, I'm still trying to understand what I want to do now with what I have, honestly, the ideas of overhauling everything and just ending and selling both passed my mind; but as far as I know the closest and pretty much only things in a comfortable vicinity are a tournaments centered club and a small GW bunker; got a pair of old friends going in the last one, or at least they were before I started living under a rock.
main problem for that would be that the GW is not really keen to let old fantasy getting a pass, while they enforce a of no unpainted miniatures, which doesn't cope well with my slow as fuck rhytm of painting and swarm army.

speaking of that does anyone know a relatively fast way to paint tyranid skin with a pale purple tone on a black primer? like pic related but more pinkish

It has a wrist strap, adjustable height and telescopic pole, compass, LED flashlight and optional snowspike and mud guard.

I live near the city in Illinois...
>>
reading your stories I find it pretty strange now that my country doesn't hold the tradition of making gifts for christmas apart from making the kids happy.
>>
>>44366687
Man this makes me uncomfortable. I'd rather no gifts than being put on the spot with a gift that totally misses the point.

So is there such a thing as a "bad gift"? I knew a person who hated surprises and really wanted to avoid that awkward feeling of getting a pointless gift, so he made it a point to tell people what he wanted and asked for their budget and he was willing to actually pay for part of his gift if it was past budgets. He'd also ask what others wanted because he wanted to get them gifts they would truly appreciate and was "tailor-made" for them.

space wolves get counter attack and acute senses
grey hunters are tacs with access to extra CCWs, blood claws are tacs with rage, but old scout BS/WS
wolf guard termies are better than regular termies because they can mix weapons and get a cyclone missile launcher and assault cannon/heavy flamer in a squad with mostly combat loadouts

They got the canix helix. Basically super special werewolf dna that only work in natives of fenris making it impossible for the space wolves to recruit from anywhere else.

Side effects of the canis helix include the continued growing of fangs with age, yellowing eyes, much hair and terrible taste in haircuts as well as the occasional critical failure of the canix helix resulting in going full wolfman, i.e. wolfen.

Ended up giving up on it and he went "Fine, when you want to build a new PC, I'll give you £1500 towards it, plus the new monitor you want". So, plus the £250 "I O U" he gave me, by 2017 I'll have bout £2k to spend on a PC with £500~ for a new monitor.

War Convocation and Battle Company are okay assuming you're only playing against Eldar/Tau/Battle Company/Decurion/War Convo. Knights are okay so long as the other guy knows about it beforehand, although some armies still aren't going to play against you.
>>
>>44368380

Battle Company is fine unless you're putting grav on everything and using White Scars. The army is built around not dying. It's literally the Rocky/Real Steel Atom/punching bag army.

Oh no, watch out for those scary objective secured RHINOS and TACTICAL MARINES!
>>
>>44368412
Against a lot of armies, 500+ points in free Razorbacks is quite the handicap.

That said, Battle Company is easily the casual friendliest army that I listed. For friendly games, I find its best to stick to CAD base only unless they other guy has his own decurion-style detachment.
>>
>>44368363
God I wish I Had gotten my hands on Grukk before he was 40 minimum
>>
>>44368458
500 free points?? Wtf am I reading
>>
>>44368458

Too bad RBs are the inferior option compared to Rhinos or Drop Pods.

It's not 300+ free points when you consider how expensive and overpriced marine units are. He's not taking Riptides and Scouts.
>>
>>44368481
Max you can get is ten free Razorbacks for 550 points. Obviously its not a net 550, since you need the captain and the chaplain, and a more cuthroat army will probably swap some of the Assault and Devastator squads for Bikes and Centurions.
>>
>>44368526

You can get two more free DTs if you take Command Squads, who aren't terrible with 5 special weapons. BC is also dragged down by the mandatory auxiliary tax.
>>
>>44368518
Free units are free units, when do I get 300-500 free points worth of Orks
>>
>>44368549
>implying GW isn't going to flip back to toning down codex power levels and options by the time Orks, DEldar, and CSM get new codexes
>>
>>44368549

There's that FW unit that gives you the big walker for super cheap.

At this point I'm getting sick of Orks trying to use their shitty codex trying to justify stupid changes to everyone else.
>>
>>44368526
It's a formation?? Or group doesn't have vanilla Marines in it so I wasn't familiar with it, free shit, Razorbacks or not, is pretty damn insane
>>
>>44368549

Okay, so nerf vanilla marines and piss off the customers who are literally keeping the company afloat.

Meanwhile, Tyranids, War Convocation, etc all still get more "free" or discounted stuff, are stronger, AND you've solved nothing. Orks still left with no free shit and all you did was fuck over marines. See why you're a dumbass yet?
>>
>>44368587
It's part of the Space Marine "Gladius Strike Force" detachment. The basic formation that makes it up is a demi-company with either a Captain or a Chaplain, 0-1 Command Squads, 3 Tactical Squads, 1 Assault Squad (or Speeder, Bike Squad, or Assault Centurions), and 1 Devastator Squad (or Devastator Centurions). If you take two, one with a Chaplain and one with a Captain, all the Dedicated Transports are free.
>>
>>44368587

Daemon Summoning has been here for a long time.

Tyranids have gotten free spawning units like Gargoyles and Tervigon forever.

IG has respawning DKoK forever.

Old editions had free units too.

Stop being retards. Nobody takes RBs, which are overpriced to begin with, and free Rhinos and pods are only 35 points a pop and nearly mandatory because of how bullshit xenos armies are in the first place.

>>
>>44368607
>>44368583
You faggots need to learn how to read. He never said that SM should lose it, he said Orks should get free shit too.

I'm of the stance that nobody should get free shit, but that would require a ton of new codexes for armies that don't need them. So fuck it, everybody should get free shit.
>>
>>44368655

Then you shouldn't post and do some Googling instead because you've been living under a rock. Free units isn't even a new thing. See >>44368628

Daemons shit out literally 1000 points of free shit every turn and triple their army size over the course of a game. KDK shits out Destroyer weapon swinging Bloodthirsters. Tyranids shits out double digits of gants per turn and regenerates all their Gargoyles. War Convocation gets free wargear which is way better than free Rhinos (or Razorbacks because you people are fucking idiots).
>>
>>44368646
free razorbacks isn't something to laugh at when you get ten free razorbacks.
>>
>>44368607

>>44368626

>>
>>44368657

Who said Orks wouldn't get free shit? They haven't been touched since the Decurion free shit cycle started. You're making up stupid non-existent issues. Orks don't have free shit BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T GOTTEN AROUND TO GETTING THEM YET MORON.

If you don't even know what a fucking Gladius is then maybe you shouldn't be fucking talking and whining to begin with?

I think I have finalized a 1500 point list. I have a bit of wiggle room and I am not sure how people run Meganobs these days so I gave them the most expensive loadout to ensure room for any changed.

I don't post lists so sorry if its a shitty format

I need to shave off 1 point as I am over right now. Could just lose a boy.

Here is what I am working with:

HQ:

Warboss w/ BP, PK, Shoota (90pts)

Elites:

9 Meganobz w/ Killsaws in a Battlewagon w/ Killkannon (545pts)

9 Tankbustas + Boss Nob w/ BP, PK (170pts)

Troops
2x 11 Shoota Boyz w/ BP, PK Nob in Trukk (142pts ea)

Heavy Support

Battlewagon (110pts)

2x 10 Lootas (140pts ea)

1501/1500

But anon, killcannon a shit on battlewagon! I know but I have two, one with and one without and I am to dumb to have magnetized.

Getting back into 40k after a long hangover (10 years) and wanted to play Inquisition. Been mulling around with the codex and came up with this list:
Inquisition List

HQ
Ordos Xenos Inquisitor (81pt.) Liber Heresius, Pysker (ML 1), Force Sword, Power Armor, Servo Skull (1)

Elites
Henchmen (269pt.)
>3x-Acolyte, Carapace Armor, Plasmagun
>3x-Crusader
>1x- Jokaero Weaponsmith
>1x- Pysker

Dedicated Transport
>Valkyrie

Offico Assassinorium

Elites
Vindicare Assassin (150pt.)

Total 500pts

Couple of questions. Is playing a flyer/assassin at this point level unfair? Is the makeup of my henchmen good and are they kitted out correctly? Is the Vindicare a good fit for this list or should I go with a different assassin?

Thanks in advance!

I like the list a lot actually, but I have a fetish for Meganobz. I would probably take a couple with killsaws but the rest normal, TLshootas can actually put out some hurt.

Just make sure anything with AP2 never gets more than 1 round shooting at them, Instant Death on Meganobz hurts
>>

Hey bro. Sorry I should explain more. I'm a previous fantasy player and did lots of 2000 points tourneys. I've had enough exposure to 40k to have a rudimentary understanding of the game and what I'm getting myself into.

Only have 8 actual tank busta but I am using two of my nobs as count-as. I think thats fair since he is bringing three Leman Russ.

Also I was able to get a better grasp of his 1500 list from his roommate. He has a Wyvern and a Hydra. It is actually 3x10 groups of veterans in Chimeras. A 10 man scion unit in a Taurox Prime. He prefers plasma on the vets and meltas on the scions.

The problem is those fucking Tau either have clear shot at the middle, or can just jetpack there, shoot, jetpack away.

Unless you're lucky and rolled the long table deployment. But even then unless you're exerting a lot of early pressure and speed, the Tau can deploy closer to the middle and slowly waddle back.

I like the old piece of fluff that says Khornes face has some distinctly Orly features on it
>mfw Khorne is actually an Ork Kommando :^)

It all makes sense now

That would actually be pretty cool.

I've seen artwork of Nurgle Orks in the old Daemonhunters codex. What would make an Ork choose one of the other gods over Khorne. I have a Weirdboy who is Korupt but I haven't chosen a god (that isn't Khorne)

Crons, sD eldars and sD tau don't give a fuck.
>>
>>44370736
teen angst. i'm dead serious. it's done as a form of rebellion to upset the warboss until he says knock that shit off. as for nurgle orks, i remember reading about those but i thought they were just zombies

Also armies nobody wants to play against. Even against each other they will groan.

Bump?

Hahaha, would it be conceivable for one to make a deal with a Greater Daemon to try and overthrow his Warboss? (I was heavily influenced by Warcraft Ghuldan orc)
>>
>>44370830
yes, greater daemons or even heralds love doing that.

This is a 40k thread for a reason. Don't hold your breath for 30k help.

List tailoring against Dark Eldar is pretty douchey. Their army is weak to begin with and they will be unable to beat an army built around flamers. A single Heldrake would actually pummel a Dark eldar army without much fight back.

Wut?

Well they do take up multiple slots.

Take anything DEldar are one of the worst codexes rights now definitely contender for worst 7th edition codex.

Codex: Squadron Everything

>Why can the army who's design is to have dudes working together get to squadron!

Yes gameplay wise its dumb, but fluffwise Tau are always working in squads.
>>
>>44371207
Yea, and fluffwise Space Marines would stomp pretty much everything with how many you field nowadays.
