>you get invited to a homebrew campaign
>DM and players are decent guys
>say that this is going to be a lighthearted campaign with only a few rules
>you can play as any race you want, so long as it can fit in a door, and stat it as if it were from 5E (whether it is in it or not)

What race and class do you play? How strong/weak are you/how strong do you become? Do you take it seriously?
>>
>>44358064
Dont take it seriously if they dont, you will be that guy instantly. Play something fun, maybe after asking the other players what they are doing? Personally I'd play as a magic horse if fitting through a door is the only prerequisite, a talking horse.
>>

A Medusa mob boss living in the underground of a large city fro where she rules her criminal empire until chance forces her to go adventure wit this ragtag bunch of nobodies.

She is secretly Chaotic Good.
>>

A human because i am a socially inept autist afraid of being seen as THAT GUY even if non-serious environment
>>
>>44358064
Do I know these folks? If not I'll play something fairly standard to get used to the table as a whole fpbefore jumping with something weird. Plus playing the straight man can be fun. Some basic dorf melee. Fighter maybe, but going later on for alchemy and throwing bombs around of the game really does get silly. Remaining stoud dorfriend if not.

If I did know everyone.. An awakened spider. Used to be a Druidic companion. But not a little spider. A giant spider. Has to turn a little to fit her abdomen in some doorways. She's also very old and thinks of the psrty as children, to the extent that she's a granny spider. Knits horrible knobbly sweaters with her silk, asks if they remembered spare socks and drinks before heading off dungeoning and is constantly worried they're not eating right.
All while being a massive horrific spider with an old lady voice who will rip people trying to hurt her babies.
May or may not constantly have fist sized baby spiders on her back.
>>
>>44358064
This is gonna sound weeaboo as fuck, but I'm rather fond of Kitsune, especially as Thieves and Rogues. The whole shape-shifting thing makes disguise and infiltration segments pretty fun (even if it feels like you're using cheat-codes).

Tame an owlbear and fuck shit up. Need to reach something that's too high up? Tame a monkey and have him grab it. His bartering skills would be pretty good but he is unbelievably slow at everything so he can never be able to convince anyone of anything without annoying them. So a lazy hippie that can just save his claw and have other animals do it for him

A human who worked as a groundskeeper at a wizard's college, but was dumb as rocks. He always ruined projects by stumbling into them and making things worse when trying to fix them. One day, the grand wizard was testing out a spell that would permanently awaken an animal. Unfortunately, the groundskeeper was rolling down a hill in a wheelbarrow at that moment because things went wrong when he tried watering flowers on a second-story windowsill (he didn't think to go inside the building). He was hit by the spell, and the grand wizard fired him for wasting his efforts. It turns out the groundskeeper was so stupid that the spell actually did awaken him, but it only manifests at certain times.

He has separate barbarian and wizard character sheets, switching between them at the DM's discretion. The barbarian side is full on Mr.Bean/Ernest Goes to the Material Plane, while the wizard side comes off as if he were extremely powerful and old by making smug comments toward his enemies' experience and intelligence. He also grows a white beard for the duration.

The aesthetic design of the thing isn't actually too bad. Some kind of shark/raptor/wolf hybrid, clearly extremely predatory/violent, fairly typical 'evil race' traits really.

It's a shame that they're basically only created to fulfill vore/guro fetishes.
>>
>>44360825
I'd hate to bring up the travesty that /tg/ "unified setting" was, but they actually TRIED not making them weird.

Then again, in capable hands everything is playable and a good character concept.

Female human artificer. Use Warlock as the base class, reflavour Eldritch Blast as her Death Ray, treat her inventions like spells prepared, and her regenerating Spell Slots as the 'juice' that makes her inventions work. Invocations are her at-will gadgets. Take the Chain pact and redo the imp minion as a swarm of helper robots. Maybe change her casting stat to Intelligence, but she'd have a high Charisma as well anyway so it wouldn't matter that much.

I take a lighthearted approach to the game, like the GM suggests, and I play the class more or less as powerful as it's intended.

So, pic related.
