What do you guys think. Should the gaming surface be at eye-level? It would increase immersion I think.

Where do I put my drink? How do I roll dice so that everyone can see them but I don't have to get up to get my dice back? It seems awfully big, so reaching to move something on the table would be awkward.

Otherwise, I like it.

Roll in a dice tower

push figures around dramatically with those sticks they use in war rooms in movies
>>

>Where do I put my drink?

They have side drink holders for most tables that easily attach to them.

>How do I roll my dice so everyone can see them and I can get them back?

Use the felt lined table surface directly in front of you.

The table is big but it isn't fucktardly huge.

-Large enough for about 6 people, because is the realistic max for any decent tabletop game

I remember my first gaming group and the perfect setup we had. The room had a hugeass bed, where all five of us easily could lie in comfortably at once. Right next to it there was a coffee table dedicated solely to snacks and drinks and two computers on which we could look up stuff we needed to know and such.

Here's some things it should probably include:

>Wood probably best material, not too cold to rest your arm on but sturdy as well
>Everyone should be able to see everyone else, no long tables.
>Not raised to the point it's uncomfortable to roll dice or see anything the GM is showing you.

I play most of my games around a sturdy wooden table at my local pub. It's not perfect, but it's obviously good to rest drinks on and though it's square you can still see everyone else at the table pretty easily.

I could just see a DM expanding the table mid-game to reveal some new part of the map or something they never mentioned concealed in the large mode's middle.

also this table would probably be interesting, especially if the DM uses the bottom-most seat in the picture so they get all that space behind them for books and such.

Yes, that makes it less functional as a general-use table. But a GAMING table would benefit from having a way to detect problem players with no respect for your property.

Though magnetic levitation doesn't come cheap, looking up prices online suggests it would be cheaper to make your own and apply them to the bottom of the table. Likely easier to just waterproof the table, or even easier, use a coaster.

Six players, all equals, playing a GM-less system. It's like the knights of the round table.

The traditions:
Wargaming:
4' x 8' piece of plywood on saw horses, cheap folding chairs as necessary. You're going to be spending a lot of time standing up anyway.

RPGs:
All the host's couches chairs & stools arranged along the walls of the living room. No table. The DM sets his notes up on an end table next to his chair. Everybody else rolls dice on the floor.

how am i even supposed to optimize my character? I keep working out but I don't seem to increase my STR
>>
>>44308275
Outside of the fact that this is definitely made up, there are some cool ideas in there. I'd be down with the hats and a GM pacing around us like a mastermind, instead of sat behind a screen rolling dice (as long as he was honest or at least fair/interesting with those predetermined rolls).
>>
>>44309986

The GM rolls all of it for you, too bad he's literally blind and probably not sapient in a way that we understand.

>no character sheets
Too many stats, damage model is ridiculously complex, better to use qualitative measurements.

>I keep working out... STR
The level up system is borked, not only do you need to consume very specific types of potions and elixers in addition to training, but your rate of stat increase and even maximum is randomly generated by the GM based on your char's parents.

To the thread, I saw some really cool tables a while back. I have a sheet of plexiglass I put over whatever grid mat I want with dry erase markers, and that stays clean as a whistle from simply wiping it down after every session. We usually set it up on the coffee table in our living room--the three couches around it makes for a pretty cushy session.

I've made a better one.
Printed a hexgrid on a canvas.

My DM painted an old table (similar shape to pic related) white and then drew a square-inch grid on top. We all then pitched in to get a piece of glass cut to cover it. It's great, everyone can just draw right on the table with dry erase markers, and the grid is part of the table. The glass lifts off, too, so we can even lay a tablecloth or something under the glass if we don't want the grid but still want to use the markers.

We don't just draw the map on the table. We also write our AC, passive perception, initiative, hero points, fate points, or whatever on the table.

Get some of those lecture hall seats with the desks, but individually and mobile. Put an indent for, say, standard soda can/cup in the desk bit, or right arm perhaps...? in front of a table that's about eight inches below where the desk rests so you can swing it out to reach. Snacks/drinks/personal papers accessible, can still pull chair under table, everything kosher.

I don't think fa/tg/uys can kneel at a table for very long

After a while the lack of circulation takes away the feeling so its all good.

I'm like 150lbs and kneeling is still the most uncomfortable way of "sitting". Dunno how the japs do it all the time. I also just have knees in general, so standing up and getting down from/to a floor position is kind of painful.

From a very early age they do that shit over and over on the daily. Probably nerve damage and butt calcification.

Cross legged is the way to go. Way more comfortable.

nah just appropriate flexibility with the feet cradling your butt. crosslegged or one-up-one-down is more comfy for longer duration anyway.

That table has built in drink holders.

Whatever table I don't have to use a coaster on.

I feel like that's a little too much. The players on the wings would be able to sneaky-peeky behind my special screeny.

An elaborate series of lazy susans.
