In the comics, it varies a lot. The ones Dutch and Donald Glover met had a weird sort of honor system, but others are crazy ass Innawood motherfuckers who don't give a DAMN and will kill anything that gets near them. And then there are ones who don't even actually KILL their prey, just stalk it and fight with it a bit.

Its been sort of congealed into proper backstory somewhere. The crazy innawoods ones are sort of "lost ones" preds that got to deep into the hunt, too deep into instincts, to truly come back to society. the fighters don't care about the honor of a trophy ,they're fighting skills are their honor, they go hunting for worthy adversaries to hone themselves and come out alive better for it. The trophy hunters do the same as the fighters except they need proof of their honor. This is why the trophy hunter and fighter hunter hang together in the movies and share the same hunting world. (Evidence of trophy hunters taking trophies everywhere and that samurai fight scene between fighter hunter and samurai as proof). And then theres the super preds who can only follow instincts.

Vulcan philosophy tracks closely with Jedi philosophy. But under their calm exteriors, vulcans have very intense emotions. They suppress their emotions, so those emotions lurk under the surface.
Jedi and Vulcan can fit in the same character, but it doesn't change anything much. Vulcans already have superhuman physical and psi abilities. Jedi already struggle against their passions. A Vulcan jedi's struggle against the Dark Side would be more obvious, and he's fall further and harder, but it wouldn't change things much.

I can kinda see where the guy was coming from, I'm a technical sense. Mauls weapon is basically just two saber attached to each other. The cross guard is a bit more difficult to pull off considering the blade uses a magnetic loop to define its shape.
