Awesome sculpts, but needs more buzzsaws.
>>
So is liquid bravery pretty much mandatory for brewmaster? Because it seems really fucking good.
>>
>>44278930

Thematic, but I think mostly situational. You want it for the WP boost for minions when you're facing stuff like Neverborn that target it heavily, but the tradeoff on Brewmaster is that it's a 0 action so it competes with Drinking Contest.
>>
What the hell is Jack Daw and why is he not in Resurrectionists?
>>
>>44280777
Angry murderghost, and just because.
>>
I have no intent on playing but I do have am interest in using the modles as proxies, I play necrons and hope to get into ad-mech/skitarii, what can be recomended?
>>
>>44280777
The same logic that means Leveticus isn't dual faction Resurrectionist/Arcanist. And the same reason why Hamelin is allowed to take any models other than rats. I mean, who would work with the human personification of disease willingly?

The only Outcasts that make sense thematically to me, are Von Schill, the Viktorias, and Tara.

>I mean, who would work with the human personification of disease willingly?
>>
>>44282189

In Mk1 all the Outcast masters had strict hiring restrictions (Som'er could only hire gremlins, Leveticus only constructs/undead, etc.) which meant that each master had almost no overlap in their hiring pools. I agree it's weird to see someone like Taelor with Hamelin, but I'm guessing they made the change so that collecting Outcasts didn't feel like such an insane proposition.
>>
>>44282189
Levi and Misaki work as Outcast too. Despite all the weird body horror stuff Levi is basically still a mercenary, and Misaki is a mercenary who occasionally reports back to daddy.

It's really just Daw and Hamelin that don't make sense.
>>
>>44282029
Arcanists and Guild have most of the good robots. Look at the crew boxes for Ramos and Hoffman (The M&SU and... I can never remember what Hoffman's is called).

Other models that might catch your interest are the Peacekeeper, Large Steam Arachnid, and maybe Necropunks or Ashes & Dust.

Even though he's undead, doesn't automatically means he's a necromancer, that's why.
>>
Jack's theme is (in)justice rather than undeath.
>>
>>44284568

Hamelin is probably using some sort of brainwashing to make his hiring happen.

Daw might have people who want to have him to kill someone who betrayed them. It's probably less of Daw hiring them so much as they were going in alone and Jack and his merry band showed up after he smelled some betrayal and decided to join in.
>>
>>44280777

Undead in Malifaux generally come in two varieties, those that are created and those that arise spontaneously, which are marked with the Tormented characteristic.

The former are all pretty much Resser creations outside of the weird Abomination bullshit Levi does. The latter don't really have any allegiance to Ressers, but many Ressers end up drafting them through subjugation or false promises.

Jack is one of the arisen undead, but since he's powerful and willful he can roam free under his own command. The undead he gathers up are ones he shepherd instead of creating them.
>>
>>44280777
Its all about connection.
Guilds are connected as all work for the goverment.
Arcanist all work for or own Ramos a favor.
Resser can be all connected to Nicodem.
Gremlins have build a force together at that one meeting.
Neverborn are the three gurls and friends.
Tt are TT.
Lastly the outcast are only losely affliated with everyone
>>
>>44291989
It's really Taelor + her anti-Tyrant relic hammer... working for a Tyrant (iirc, her hammer is even supposed to be specially made for Plague). Brainwashing Hannah or relatively 'good' guys like Sue going "Oh, hey, angry murderghosts. Cool" is also kind of weird.

And it still doesn't explain what's up when Hamelin or Daw's thematic units show up in other lists. Here's a crack team of elite mercenaries and... a crazy orphan with her pet rats? Sure, why not.

It's not like it's a serious problem, it's just fun to point out. And Rasputina in Arcanists and Dreamer in NB are also a little off (not to mention the thematically super weird lists you can make in TT), so it's not even an Outcast quirk specifically.
>>
>>44292843
It's weird to hear about someone as legendarily stubborn as Taelor (who has master-tier WP) all things told.
>>
Where's the overall plot look to be going, after Shifting Loyalties?
>>

>>
>>44298783

I think Wyrd has started to listen and made newer sculpts easier to assemble.
>>
>>44298941
Wrath's little wraith dudes were annoying with their arms but it just required a little pre-measuring.

Also I bought the Aionus model on a whim and been reading over his card and quite like his stats, I should probably go ahead and get the Tara Box next yeah?

Any other models recommendations?
>>
>>44298971
Death Marshals are a nice additional source of burying, Hannah too since she can copy their Pine Box attack (and then the buried model needs to flip against her huge willpower as a bonus).

If you're really serious about Tara you'll also end up with basically half a Resser collection since Karina can summon horrors, and you can get Crooligans and Punk Zombies from the Molly and Nico boxes.
>>
>>44299117
Don't forget the students from the university of transmortis box. And the Drowned.
>>
>>44298971
Guild Marshall are good minions, and can play into her faction.
While Karina can summon horror she is not good at it nor can she summon many, so it is not really required to buy them but if you do go for those between 4-7 SS.
Gunslinger, Librarian, specialist and the trapper enjoy being fast, while Ama likes the nothinf beast (but watch out for cards).
Killjoy is also a pretty steong beatstick, while Hannah can also bury shit (do mind the cards).
Overall the thematic crew likes model who can also bury, interact with bury, discard cards, and most importanly don't need many cards.
Models who like her crew are those who can bury themselves or fragile models who can be protected by slowing or burying the attack or even themselves.
She herself gives good bonuses to model who require 3 activation to be great (rrapid fire models or focus models).
>>
>>44299912
I find it amusing that Wyrd keep releasing "patches" to Tara through new models and upgrades. First there were the new upgrades for the nothing beast and Karina, and now the Scion of the Void.

Wyrd have shown that they're willing to errata cards to nerf models when they changed the metal gamin, so I can't understand why they don't just admit that Tara isn't playing like they intended and give her a buff?

Especially now they're doing a print on demand service for cards I can't think of a good reason not to do it...

Mei Feng newbie here, hoping to get my first game in later today. We flipped Turf War, and Bodyguard/Cursed Object/Take Prisoner/Breakthrough against Gremlins. How does this look for a list?

35ss
Mei Feng: 4 Stones (p. 254)
- Seismic Claws: 1 (p. 270)
- Vapormancy: 1 (p. 270)
Emberling: 3 (p. 258)
Kang: 9 (p. 256)
- People's Challenge: 2 (p. 271)
Rail Worker: 5 (p. 262)
Rail Worker: 5 (p. 262)
Rail Worker: 5 (p. 262)

Bodyguard: Kang
Breakthrough

Also, when you do (ca) actions, are they a single flip and it has to beat both defense AND the TN, or is it a flip for TN, then a flip for defense?
>>
>>44322231
>Also, when you do (ca) actions, are they a single flip and it has to beat both defense AND the TN,
yes
>>
>>44322231
It looks like the crew box. Seismic Claws and Vapormancy are probably the right upgrades on Mei. Gremlins have some pretty scary shooting and Vent Steam will certainly get in their way.

If they out activate you Cursed Object can be a problem. On the other hand, Turf War against soft targets like Gremlins is basically Mei's dream match.
>>
>>44322826
Yeah, I don't know what else I'd take at this point, though. Bodyguard means Kang or some other form of tough beater, and Kang is the most thematic. Rail Workers are worth the +1ss over Metal Gamin, it seems like. Seismic Claws and Vapormancy are must-takes. I'm not entirely sold on the Emberling or People's Challenge, though.
>>
What's Levi's fluff? Like, how do anchors and his magic in general work?
>>
>>44323190
There's a lot that isn't really gone into on his abilities, but it's basically described as him using waifs as ethereal lanterns, effectively. When he dies, he finds his way back by looking for the waif, and this light is brighter and easier to follow if they're next to a particularly strong soul. I'll see if I can dig up some relevant stuff from the books.
>>
>>44323190
He is an old fuck who has appeared one day in malifaux and open a lost and found agency.
He knows Zoraida (the oldest human), shitload about the world and is connected to the riders.
Furthermore his magic is not like any other magic and his creation bears a semblence to old malifaux beings.
While most mages follow the known techniques (leibniz and such), while rarely some might practice hedge magic, whisper (resser bound) or can do magic through the breacheffect, his magic is more primordial, being able to affect the aether and unmaking things.
Furthermore he is a genius engineer

>that visible hip and thigh

>>
>>44323901
Not that anon, I think the complexity with Jack Daw comes from knowing what curse to put on what model, which is hard to know without a familiarity with a lot of the models in the game.

There's also the fact that sometimes you will need to kill a model rather than curse it, and knowing when to do which is difficult and not always intuitive.
>>
>>44324148
That doesn't seem too bad, but I tend to play the debuff game in every game that I play
>>
Does Imbued Protection work with Armor to reduce damage to 0?
>>
>>44322826
>>44322231
So, being a moron, I forgot Mei has a base cache. Do I sit on 7 stones and use them to proc People's Challenge and boost defense when goblins get frisky, or do I buy a Metal Gamin to be slightly less out-activated and buff my Rail Workers?
>>
How bad an idea would it be to use Nix or Hamelin in demo games?
>>
>>44325724
No. Imbued protection increases the models defence stat, it doesn't affect armour at all.
>>
>>44327219
You can discard it to drop the damage of something.
>>
So I finally got around to reading the fluff in Crossroads, Kirai and Molly is the best double act ever. Also why is Hoffman not dual faction arcanist anyway?
>>
>>44327811

Because he's not actually a member of the Arcanists, even if he's on 'good' terms with them and the M&SU. Same reason Johannes isn't Arcanists even though he's M&SU.
>>
>>44324148
>>44323873
I'm still probably going to give him a shot. He seems like my kind of guy, and other than some of the new Guilty, I love his thematic models. What should I grab? His box and Crossroads Seven?
>>
>>44328092
That's a good start. You also might look at McMourning's box for the Nurses.
>>
>>44328171
Sounds good. I'll probably wind up branching into Ressers someday, considering which Outcasts I like
>>
If you use a henchman as a leader, do they have an SS cost?
>>
>>44328499
no
>>
Arcanist player here, at the moment I have Kaeris and Ramos as my two masters, I want to branch out a bit more and ideally I want a more melee beatstick type of thing, just wondering who the best master to pick up next would be. I'm thinking either Mei Feng or Ironsides would both be suitable.
>>
>>44328767

Mei is probably the best bet for a personal, Street Fighter-style face beater. I like Marcus though.
>>
>>44328767
Mei Feng leads to branching out into Ten Thunders. Can you afford that?
>>
>>44328767
Mei Feng is probably an easier master to play, and probablt more well rounded.

But when Ironsides works she's way more fun, and she has stronger synergy with M&SU models which you will already have a lot of with the Kaeris and Ramos boxes.

Make sure to oick up some Gunsmiths ASAP, they work really well with Kaeris, and have even better synergy with Ironsides.
>>
>>44328767
Ironside is for the most part a bruiser, running in and binding everyone in melee, Mei feng on the other hand is a fast fighter running around and pushing people around.
Marcus is also melee.
>>44328092
The other reason he is a bit of a non-optimal first choice is the fact his thematic crew is mostly out of faction.
Drowned, Hanged, nurses and Crooked Men (and to a lesser extend papa loco) are all in his thematic crew bur also out od faction.
If you wamt to stay in faction ama and bishop are good single models while Convict gunslinger are good minions.
>>
>>44329200
As soon as the gunsmiths are released I'll be picking up a box, at the moment i've just kitbashed one out of the multi part TTB character kit
>>
>>44329182
Please stop forcing people to expand so much.
Honestly you don't really need that much to play.
>>
>>44329224

When you say "thematic crew" are you referring to the Tormented characteristic?
>>
>>44328767
>>
>>44329224
It seems like that's the case for a lot of Outcasts. I was thinking Crossroads Seven would be good, since they're all mercs and are Tormented. Will definitely be picking up Ama and Bishop as well though. Thanks
>>
>>44329271
In jack daw crew yes.
Thematic crew are usually the fluff close models to a master.
While thematic crew doesn't mean the master only works with those they make it easier to find synergy or even to know what to get next.
>>44329289
Start small is my advice.
Buy your crew box and start with 35.
If you played a game or 2 up to 50 through 1 or 2 boxes.
Crossroad seven would work fine.
>>
>>44329182
>>44329253
TT Mei isn't even good anyway. Her and Brewmaster are probably the TT masters least likely to be played as TT.
>>
Outcasts or TT? they are the only two factions where I like most of the masters
>>
>>44330770
TT, no doubt.
>>
>>44330625
Yeah, but Mei's shit as far as Arcanists go. She's likely to be seen in TT, just because she's a higher tier there by comparison.
>>
>>44330770

Depends on how much you like Ressers.

If yes, go with Outcasts since there's a huge model overlap there. Tara, Levi, and Jack take some pretty big dips out of the faction while Hamelin can just grab Crooligans.

Also depends on which TT masters you like and if you think you might ever branch out into a second faction.
>>
>>44331129
I'll probably branch into another faction at some point. I like all of the TT masters that aren't Mei Feng, really.
>>
>>44331178

If you like that many go with TT then.

Lynch might be a good starting box since Illuminated are just great minions for most TT masters.
>>

Finished rebasing some of my Resser dudes. Found this nice brick tutorial in the WIP thread where you take craft foam and drybrush it into bricks. Looks miles better than my own attempts with greenstuff. Also for like $5 I easily have enough to make brick bases for my entire Malifaux collection.

On the painting side I have a Seamus, two Belles, a Nurse, and Izamu in various states of painting and Nix and the other Nurse floating in Pinesol to strip some paint.
>>
>>44335015

It's an interesting effect.
>>
>>44334039
What are Shenlong's monks good for?
>>
>>44335110

Setting shit on fire and getting a lot of attacks through charges.
>>
>>44335110
Getting three attacks on the charge and lighting things on fire, when you include the burning damage they have a pretty good attack profile. They're reasonably quick too, iirc. Three is definitely more than you want in most lists, though, but that's the case for almost every non-summonable crew box minion.

I wouldn't usually take them over Illuminated most of the time unless I was specifically interested in burning things (with Mei, for example) but, well, that's why Lynch + Shlong go so well together.
>>
>>44335174
>>44335271
Nifty. Anything else I should grab immediately if I focus on Shen? I know Lynch always wants Beckoners, but I'd like to stay in faction as much as possible for now.
>>
>>44335435

Tengu are nice for scheme running.

Katanaka Snipers and Thunder Archers are good ranged minions that benefit from Shenlong's ability to hand out focus and his and Yu's push effects to get them into position. You probably don't need both, so go with which one you like better.

I've heard he really likes the Lone Swordsman, but I've never use him myself.
>>
>>44335435
Thunder Archers or Katana Snipers if you like shooting.

Thunder Archers can Rapid Fire which makes them pretty good with Lynch, too (they can all share the same ace). Taking a pair of them with Blot the Heavens on Yu (or whoever) also lets you double focus with their activations and then take a turbo-powered Rapid Fire or Hail of Hachinosu action at the end of the turn.
>>
So what is the best list I can build for Sonia? What about Lucius? I'm still fairly new although I have a semi decent selection of models already and am in the process of ordering some witchling stalkers for summoning purposes.
>>
Is there a thematic reason why Outcasts and Resurrectionists have so much overlap?
>>
>>44335435
The dawn serpent, femented river monks, and ten thunders brothers are all good, and worth getting.
>>
>>44282029
Abominations as flayed ones
>>
>>44283486
Also, weren´t old Outcast split into Outcasts, TT and Gremlins?
>>
>>44340450
I believe TT was their own faction in 1.5E (With Storm of Souls or Shadows or whatever the book was called), but yeah originally Gremlins and Outcasts were the same faction.

>>44338408
Old Outcasts also all used to have really strict hiring conditions to keep you from mixing gremlins, Levi or Hamelin's crap, and the actual mercenaries together which is one of the reasons why Daw, Levi, and Hamelin have such wildly different units than the rest of the faction now (and it's one of the reasons why there's so much Resser overlap).
>>
Who plays more like "white weenies" in magic? Collodi or McCabe?
>>
>>44342136
McCabe, since all your soldiers (wastrels) can sort of buff each other. Guild Lucious does it better. Collodi is an odd piece as he wants his crew very close to him (you're going to HATE Wong) and uses them as an extension of himself.

For McCabe, watch out for people fielding Tara, as her sword can damage all models with the same name as the target. Fielding four wastrels against her and having her kill them all in two attacks was a brutal and unexpected way to lose the game (in my defense, I had no clue she could do that at the time)

Is Lucius as hard to start with as people say he is?

And yeah, the 6" thing is really the only off putting part of Collodi to me. Not sure how I'd go about scheme running

He's odd in that all of his abilities revolve around making minions do things for him. Which can leave him vulnerable if say you're playing Lilith and they tangled shadows him out from his crew on his own, or rotten belles lure him away, or the Victoria's murder everyone around him, or...

You get the idea.

(NB. Nearly all of the above can be prevented with good positioning)

Just hire Terror Tots like every other Neverborn master does.

Depends on if you're running Guild or Neverborn. Guild Lucius loves him some redshirts. Send him out with a bunch of guild guards, austringers and riflemen and he'll be able to boss them around to give them extra activations and call in sniper fire that doesn't randomize when firing into melee. He's got a nice ability that can help pull him out of melee, but he's not great at dishing out damage himself. He is almost purely support, which means that you need to know how to run the rest of your crew well before you can get the best use out of him.

Probably just run a Terror Tot and let it do is own thing.

Beckoners, Doppelganger and Austringers, are some good models get.
In Neverborn he foremost likes the beckoners and Illuminated to deal massive amount of damages without someone doing anything, while he can use his abilities to put the beatstick (Young Nephilims and Illuminated) in positions,
If you are willing to add more Illuminated are top notch,

If its not already incredibly obvious, Lucius (and all the Neverborn master really) love to have a Doppelgänger in their crew.

Because bullshit. This is the dumbest thing in the game.

Like, really, Hoffman's friendly enough he can borrow Howard and Joss, but he won't do a quick job for Ramos?

Fuck that.

From memory wasn't Hoffman released before dual faction masters became a thing?

I can see why they didn't want to make him dual faction in m2e as well. With lucius, mccabe, mcmourning, and hoffman all as dual faction then the guild would be more dual faction masters than not. Which would kind of infringe on the Ten Thunders design space a bit.
