Or, in my case, because I'm from a small town and haven't been able to pick up tabletop games despite trying for the last seven years. Town of less than five thousand is not fun. I got much more into tabletop games after coming to /tg/ because this place was a lot acerbic, funnier and sometimes more wildly inventive than a lot of places. Admittedly that was years ago, I only migrated from /x/, and I lurked for the best part of a year before making any posts.
I do kind of wish more people would just post ideas they had, or advice they want or stories they think up rather than just for their specific general of the specific thing its about. I didn't know the first thing about Legend of the Five Rings, but things like Shouting Matsu's advice threads, or the haiku offs or the one that led to horse seppukku got me so much more invested than a general "here's everything about a thing" I get that its harder now that OPs can't bump, but I do wish more people would try.

And do you realize how hard it is to get used to the layout? When I first came to 4chan, I couldn't wrap my head around it. I spent most of my early time lurking figuring out what was what. It was so hard to follow threads of conversation interspersed among dozens of posts that weren't in any real order. Where someplace like reddit funnels them down into an easily managable line (that admittedly channels conversation in various ways and allows users to ignore whole sections of conversation), or tumblr you really only have to worry about stuff others reblog getting onto your dashboard, 4chan feels like a far too simple jumble of confused voices shouting at each other.
