I've seen playing card-based RPG systems
I've seen Jenga-based RPG systems

Are there any uno-based RPG systems?

U no.

Well, Uno itself is just an advanced variation of MauMau as far as i know, so it's rather similiar to regular playing cards. But i don't know any RPGs using it.

But tell me more about the Jenga, OP.

Dread, it's a horror RPG that uses Jenga as its resolution mechanic. When you need to do something with a chance of failure, you pull a block from the tower. When the tower falls, the character of the person pulling the block dies.

Uno would be kind of interesting but what would the cards even represent? You are trying to GET RID of the cards, which doesn't usually suite something like an adventuring game.

It might work for something like a search for enlightenment style game, which each card representing Earthly worries and discarding them being letting go and attaining virtues, etc. It's also way more distracting to have an Uno mechanic over a roleplaying game, which each resolution mechanic should be for a single moment or action represented in game space.

For example; playing a hand of blackjack works great for a resolution mechanic, because it involves a bit of skill, luck, and also is resolved quickly.

Using jenga for a SINGLE resolution mechanic is terrible, but using it over the course of a long horror campaign is pretty cool, hence why Dread uses it.

So what game would use discarding a single Uno card as being a tight mechanic, with getting rid of your whole hand being a sort of character defining or extreme moment? The only thing I could think of was what I said earlier; a Enlightenment style game. What else is there?

Wow, that sounds great for oneshots or anything were you don't ecpect characters to make it all the way. Outside of horror and high mortality games the Jenga seems a bit out if place though. Maybe I'll give it a play in the future.

My friends and I play with a houserule that if you get a Skip or a Draw 2, you can counter with your own Skip or Draw 2, thus forcing the next player in rotation to either get skipped, draw 4, or lay down their own counter. If they put another Draw 2 down, it keeps compounding until someone can't play another Draw 2, at which time they flip the table and stomp off in frustration.

Can't counter a Draw 4, though. That would be ridiculous.

Whimp. Someone laying a plus 4, only for you to lay a plus 4, then for another plus 4 to be laid on that, meaning that the original player now has to pick up 12 is one of the greatest feelings imaginable.

When you're doing a drinking game version of this its even better

In some larger games, I've actually seen someone draw 20.

Skip means skip forever.
On the other hand, you can stack +2 and +4 endlessly. It's gr8.
>>
>>44168532
Neat. Is it necessary to have the PDF to play it?
>>
>>44168065
Everyone forgets that being forced to draw cards also makes you lose your turn in UNO. Draw 2 is potent shit.

I don't even have a face to convey what I'm feeling here
