what is a realistic number of marines/squads that can go traitor reasonably in the famous and more known founding chapters (i want to paint a newly traitorous squad or two using loyalist bits)

A squad going rogue is a huge stain on a chapter's reputation. If more than a few marines fall, usually its because someone high up in the chapter forced the rest into it (soul drinkers).
but well-known traitors? I don't see more than a handful at a time going traitor, if at all. I've always thought a chaos army of traitors from 20+ chapters would look cool

Realistically the most common amount of marines going traitor I imagine would be one or a few at a time, but if the whole squad is compromised, it would be 5-10 marines.
An entire company though? That's "mobilize the entire fucking chapter and prepare the chapter master's personal vessel" level shit.
