I am well aware with how one works, my dad used one to keep jousting after having to get two vertebra fused. Moving your head inside the helm that is anchored to your breastplate, and can only be seen out of while leaning forward is still useless in combat.

Different uses bro, and depends on the period. Earlier (14thC) great bascinets tended to have a smaller skullcap helm underneath, or a snekhook arrangement to ditch the collar and face plate after the charge or or foot. Later (15thC) great bascinets were just as much sports helms as the frog mouth, and not meant for actual combat outside of tourney batons and jousting.

Except it is. Less than that even. That is the purpose of the design. When you are not leaning forward, riding forward against a tilt, it presents a wall of solid sloped steel plate to deflect a lance.

The artist just painted it that way for fun/convenience or because that's the armour he had access to for reference and because accuracy was not the point of the painting.
Wearing a frogmouth in battle is beyond retarded since it's literally just useful if you're knights going at each other with couched lances, for everything else it just means you have jack shit visibility. I'm sure it happened, just like people have gone into battles armed with just rocks, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea or a frequent occurrence.

Actually, yes. The style of mass shooting found in that period wouldn't required sighted vision (bowmen were traditionally trained to loose for distance in yards rather than at set targets) so having lowered visors would be no major problem and would be preferable to getting a potential arrow in the face. Stand and shoot style of archery (as shown in that image) also didn't require great feats of marksmanship.
The concept of the sniper archer didn't really exist in the period in a military context. People bombarded arrows with volume and at set distance making sighted targets generally moot. Marksmanship as a principle was more common with the crossbow or found in non-military archery done for sport or leisure.
The idea that the knights of both armies shouldn't have the exact same armour is odd. The idea that well paid and equipped men-at-arms wouldn't have quality armour is also odd.

The reason being that crossbows have no capacity for the volley or arch that a bow has, and that the range of a bolt (depending on the crossbow) was generally shorter. Crossbows were much more up close weapons usually employed in siege warfare in which sighting an individual is more useful. Mass crossbows with only a few exceptions were generally not an ideal weapon on a pitched field of battle.
Not taking into account the reload time of a crossbow either.
