THE BRAIN DRAIN
Looks like a normal magical ring and can actually be removed as if it was a normal ring if the curse has not yet been activated. Its normal function allows the user to store a number of extra spells of any level (provided they can actually cast the spell) in the ring equal to his caster level but only a maximum of 5.However, the when the spell in the ring is used, it has a ((spell level + 2) * 10)% chance to activate the curse on the ring.
e.g. A level 3 fireball has a 50% chance to activate the curse while a level 0 only has a 20% chance
THE BRAIN DRAIN
First ,the ring painfully tightens around the wearers finger and become irremovables. What immediately follows is extremely painful for the unfortunate victim. The victim using the ring must roll a Will save for every single prepared spell including his 0 level spells starting with the highest level. Every time the victim fails a save for a spell, the target loses that spell from his prepared spell list as if it had been cast like a normal level 1 spell. After the all the spells have been rolled for, the victim must roll one final will save or lose a number of Intelligence points equal to the number of spells he lost.
After this occurs the ring remains stuck to the victims finger and can only be removed by advanced magical means (finding a high level spell caster or performing a task such as returning the ring to its rightful owner). The victim may still be able to load spells into the ring and use them but the risk of activating the brain drain again still remains.

The ring would be part of a set, the eye not real of course. It provides no direct benefit either, it simply pings as magical.
Wearing it for long periods of time will slowly grant the wearer +UMD(wizard's creations) and +Knowledge(local)(wizard's home nation) and other similar bonuses as though they had the experiences of the wizard that mad it. It gives a dry familiarity with these things, not a sentient mind that can answer questions. Eventually, they'll find they can walk straight through my traps without triggering a single one, it's habit for me and will be habit for them.
But they'll slowly lose their taste for food and drink, no matter how fine it is, it will taste only slightly better. And their sleep will worsen. Either they'll be so tired they won't even move in their sleep and will wake almost worse then when they bedded, or they'll be kept up for hours after the others have drifted off. There's little that can be done about the mild insomnia, and as long as time isn't too pressing, it just means they'll end up in charge of night preparations for the camp and will have to sleep through when everyone else is awake and eating breakfast together. In fact, they'll find that being with large groups of people is aggravating, it exacerbates headaches easier and the lack of sleep makes them struggle to pay attention to everyone.
