How would a modern world see necromancers, how would religion react to people who can bring stuff back from the dead? What jobs could open up to people like that?

God had zombies.

We already fear the Frankensteins and zombies of fiction. It only makes sense that if someone used reanimated corpses for labour, they would be shunned, if not legally prosecuted
>>
>>43999836
Well you can argue that they're not technically human anymore so no human rights.
>>
>>43999830
Yeah and Christian Rapute is basically zombie apocalypse, except the zombies will be "friendly".

Well for one thing they'd completely destroy religion if they could bring a corpse back with its soul. It'd suddenly become the job of along weekend to check which religions were true and which were false. A lot of religions would be very against it though due to the strong taboo of fucking about with dead bodies, plus the fact that a lot of the grand muftis in religion tend to know they're bullshit.

In terms of jobs it depends how it works, do they resurrect dead people, rebind the soul to the corpse, animate dead bodies or what? Some of those would render a necromancer good only for military use, like going around after a battle and standing up the bodies for the next fight and for making organic forklifts and such. Warfare and manual labour would be areas they'd revolutionise, can you imagine a nation with ten thousand polished and gilded skeletons in a vault, then when they're under attack around 100 royal necromancers animate the nation's Eternal Army and go to war.

IF they bring sould back to bodies or resurrect people then they're the ultimate doctor, eternal life insurance policy, prosecution expert witness and medium. Can you imagine being able to pay a necromancer to bring you back to life after death, or resurrect a person who died, or bring a murder victim to the stand? Hell, imagine being able to resurrect your dead grandparents once every month and spend a day or two with them, death would become like a visit to the old folks home!

Graves are property, disturbing them is trespassing, theft, and breaking the law for desecration a corpse.

Also corpse mold will fuck you up

Depends on the means and the source.

Necromancy can describe a whole range of things.

Let's take your basic zombie or skeleton. We've got reanimated dead organic material, infused with motive power. What drives it?
The former soul of its inhabitant? In which case is it willing or unwilling?
An otherworldly spirit? In which case, from whence it came?
Is it being driven by the will of its creator, and being manipulated like a puppet?

Not unless the family is paying you to bring the body back from the dead, necrobros can do more than make zombies anon. It could possibly be a legal shitstorm, but you can do it legally.
>>
>>43999948
I'm pretty sure some people would be willing to sell the rights to their corpse when they eventually kick the bucket for payment up front / right now.

>What jobs could open up to people like that
If they're capable of resurrecting people with their memories intact, necromancers would probably have great job opportunities in militaries, law enforcement organizations, and intelligence agencies.

Frankenstein is a Homunculus.

I'd be curious how neckbeard New Atheists react. It may be hilarious.

Lazarus was not technically a "zombie" as we would recognize it, as his soul was also restored into his body though that is pretty semantic and unclear

>>43999860
It's unclear whether or not it means that the spirits of the dead will rise up as new beings and fight, like a ghost or spirit, or whether it refers to actual bodies rising from the dead to fight.

The Book of Revelations isn't exactly known for its clarity.

Jesus was a necromancer.

That's the kind of jobs they get before getting crucified.

And that's the ''good'' necromancers.

I would bet it would help drop the cost of everyday items with undead working in sweat shops.
Or as they would be renamed, "dust shops"

That's already a thing people do, it's called "body donation".

Let's find out who was lucky enough to get it.
