What's the /tg/ scene like in Asian countries? Thinking of movie but not sure where.

Assuming I learn their language would I be able to find ching-chongs who play /traditional games/ or do they all just play Starcraft and LoL all day?

From what I understand, RPGs and CCGs are bitter over there than tabletop wargames.
>>
>>43993185
>bitter
bigger. I mean bigger
>>
>>43992508
So you're thinking of moving to Asia, but not sure what country? Why?

Because if it's about oriental girls, that's a terrible reason to pick a place to live.
>>
>Thinking of movie but not sure where.

You really haven't got any idea more specific than "Asia"?
>>
>>43993185
Sp, like everywhere else in the world?
>>
>>43992508
Here in China, there's a very small minority of tabletop players, though it seems like most gamers regardless on what medium do have basic knowledge on DnD.
Unless of course, you're talking about mtg, that has quite a sizeable following.

Tabletop seems to be more popular in Japan as compared to other East Asian countries, dunno about SEA though
>>
>>43993402
Tabletop wargames are bigger in europe than CCGs and RPGs.

In america it seems to be CCGs > RPGs > wargames.
>>
>>43992508
way ive heard it about japan is what tabletops there are tend to be more one-shotty, less campaign like. Also, nothing but d6s. have fun.
if they do have war games, i reckon there would be less warhammer stuff
>>
our hobby is HUGE in asia, especially among girls... and they fucking LOVE western guys who are into these hobbies!!
>>
>>43993431
>Tabletop wargames are bigger in europe than CCGs and RPGs.

I haven't gotten that feeling, no. Maybe in some part of Europe, but not my neck of the woods.
>>
>>43993307
>Why?

work, food, travel, want to do something different

>girls

I like asian girls, so it's definitely not a negative (like moving to africa or middle-east would be)

>>43993353

Not yet

>Unless of course, you're talking about mtg, that has quite a sizeable following.

Where in China are u? And do you play with expats or actual chinese mtg players?
>>
>>43992508

I used to live and work in South Korea. People just don't have as much free time as in the west, so hobbies like this aren't as big. But there are a few places. They tend to prefer board games, card games, something you can "pick up and play" for a bit rather than PnP RPGs. Board game cafes are a good place to go and chill. If you live somewhere with a good expat presence you could probably get a game together - though fuck it was a pain to get dice that weren't d6s.

Shanghai.
I don't play mtg personally, but it's quite common to see a band of students going to manga stores and play a round or two after school.
>>
>>43993431

i don't think so bruv
>>
>>43992508
you don't need to learn our language i speak english you nigger
>>
>>43992508
>Assuming I learn their language

What's more likely to happen is you'll make tons of native friends who (a) want to practice their English on you and (b) see you as a status symbol to befriend.

That said, yeah, LoL is super popular so I'd recommend going to PC-bangs etc to maybe make some friends there.

Philippines.
Card game tournaments are a big thing here mostly MTG, Yu-gi-Oh! used to popular but player number dropped as the years went by.

Tabletops are not as popular and tabletop shops are even rarer to come by. A lot of them are closed down due to low patronage, but some still manages to stay afloat. Though most times they are filled with pretentious "normies" who has really no idea about RPG's and just went with their friends to look nerdy and take pictures for their social media accounts.

I'd still need to learn ching-chong so I wouldn't have to talk to you. Sorry, but I'm kind of a homophobe. (Not that there's anything WRONG with being a little yellow faggot, i'm just easily creeped-out by commies with AIDS.) Ding-dong!

Depends on the internet service.
Some internet services blocks the site, some don't. With the latter you only have to worry about not being able to load the captcha, to which there is a way around it via pass
>>
Well, that was racist and ignorant.

You sound like a fetishist with absolutely zero knowledge of the various cultures of Asia.

What other kind of Asian woman is there? Don't you know they're all submissive little angels like in your pornography?

Sweeet! Buying a plane ticket right now.
Man, I'm gonna play so much D&D!
>>
Pay a visit to Hong Kong or Singapore first. They're probably the best two for caucasians easing in if you don't handle culture shock well. I live in the latter and the /tg/ scene is small, but we do get up to it if you know where to look. Staples like D&D and 40k/warmahordes are common, and my flgs has a soft spot for X-Wing.
>>
ITT: Loser sexpat english teachers who will gain 0 transferrable skills from their time in Asia, realise they're unable to go back, and stay as a bitter lose in Asia.

Protip: Its the dregs of society that go after white english teachers.
>>
Took a trip to Japan so my scope is limited, but from what I saw they had a decent number of people. Surprisingly older, I guess people looking for more hobbies. Played in a tabletop group during my short stay, they had some interesting playstyle and DMing.
>>
>>43992508
Here in the Philippines? Hilarious. You get kids trying to mix YGO with MtG, or grown men talking for hours on how to make Mordheim Chess while a fully laid-out and unused battlefield is on the other table. Sometimes I see D&D players resolving battles by playing solitaire. Or maybe my LGS is just weird.
>>
>>43998008
Nah, flips are just stupid subhumans that struggle with basic concepts.
>>
>>43998032
Hey, I'm a Flip. I don't struggle with basic crap. Other stores I've visited are pretty chill. It is sad that we got fucked by Americans in the 1900's. I mean, come on, even India manages to beat us, and they shit on the streets.
>>
>>43993464
There are two GWs in Tokyo, at least, and Yellow Submarine (hobby/game shop chain) also has a few things. I have no idea how big the scene actually is, though. But considering they write all box names in Japanese and translates the rule books, it should be at least some market base.
Card games still rule supreme, though.

Wanna gimme that wechat?

Ps it's way too cold.

is day in America its DnD > magic > 40k
in Australia its 40k = magic = WMH = Dnd
EU is 40k > WHFB > Dnd > magic
Asia is Magic and other CCGS only.... RPGS and Wargames are not played in asia at all and any one who trys to convince you they are is just a weebo in japan for instance you would find 1000:1 ratio of gundam builders to 40k players and lots of the south east Asian countrys copy japan culture and use it as their own "past times" so like you find lots of people in even Singapore being into japanse or Korean popular culture etc.

its a weird scene but basically south korea and japan are the "America or Hollywood" of asia" and both thous countrys don't play warhammer or 40k at all. There is some 40k clubs in japan thou but its mostly ex pat people showing off they shipped all this stuff here or people who have lived overseas for a long time.. japan is full of clubs thou so this seems like big exposure but really they are a drop in a massive pond

if I was in asia I would honestly not take your 40k collection with you. only place its worth taking traveling is Europe even the American and Australia 40k / whfb scenes are too small to justify moving a huge collection there. UK and Euro is where wargames originated and are played.. People talk about how Warmachine took over the whfb sceen and American scene and Australia and stuff but you have to realize that warmachine is = in sales in Australia and USA but being = in sales is still super niche.. WMH actually sells best in Europe still... if you understand.

I do hear that lots of people in Australia have been playing 30k for a number of years thou due to FW prices being same as GW for them
