Very tough break. I assume it is deadly upon transformation. I mean, the bones would just stretch, multiply, and change shape without the skin and tissue around it doing anything to change. OP's would rip itself apart.
>>
>>43951224
What would be the problem with this? Whip up a skeleton mini-race that wasn't broken, overly complex or crap (maybe immunity from suffocation, drowning, no breathing, immunity from poison, no eating or drinking but with crap strength (no muscles), crap resistance to whatever equates to knockdown and rubbish stealth due to skellybones clattering) and then add werewolf effect. It's stupid but it could be fun.

>If an illithid brain was transplanted into a human body would it still require eating brains?

That's not really how Illithid work, but yes.
>>
>>43951608
>That's not really how Illithid work

Pretty sure that's EXACTLY how illithids work.

>Illithids are hermaphroditic creatures who each spawn a mass of larvae two or three times in their life. The larvae resemble miniature illithid heads or four-tentacled tadpoles. Larvae are left to develop in the pool of the Elder Brain. The ones that survive after 10 years are inserted into the brain of a sapient creature. Hosts are determined in a very specific manner. Hosts generally are humanoid creatures that are between 5 feet 4 inches and 6 feet 2 inches. The most desirable of races for hosts are Human, Drow, Elves, Githzerai, Githyanki, Grimlock, Gnoll, Goblinoid, and Orc. Upon being implanted, the larva then grows and consumes the host's brain, absorbing the host's physical form entirely and becoming sapient itself, a physically mature (but mentally young) Illithid. This process is called ceremorphosis. Illithids often experiment with non-humanoid hosts, but ceremorphosis involving other creatures usually fails, killing both host and larva.
>>
>>43951224
That sounds incredibly painful.
>>
>>43951625
Exactly, Illithid don't really have brains in that way, they are brains. So inserting an Illithid brain into a human body is what always happens.

However, since they need the hormones and shit from brains I think sticking just an Illithid tadpole brain in a human, were it possible, would still need to eat brains.
>>
>>43951608
if an illithid tadpole was inserted into a man's testicles, would he then be required to fuck people's brains out?

This is important.

It doesn't suck so much as it just offers very little mechanical gain compared to the effort required to make it.
Basically you have to take two feats, spend a few thousand gold, and work for a very long time in order to make it.
And then it just adds a pool of hp over your own. Not even that much, either.

And if it breaks you have to make it fresh.

>>
>>43953615
Shitposting will only ever be done for the sake of shitposting.
The point being made is that /tg/ used to be able to reverse shitpost, and was therefore hard to troll.
This has, of course, changed as more people who react violently to shit threads were introduced, and /tg/s seemingly magical powers were diluted out.
>>
>>43953692
>This has, of course, changed as more people who react violently to shit threads were introduced, and /tg/s seemingly magical powers were diluted out.
You're probably right. Classic /tg/ was mostly composed of people who migrated here from other boards on 4chan, so /tg/ seemed like a mellow and polite place compared to the screaming cacophony of /b/.

Does this mean that fucking newfags actually did ruin something on 4chan?
>>
>>43953642
I'm not "identifying the OP". I'm telling it to the guy who posted.

>>43953668
Nah, put off your nostalgia glasses and open the archives. There were some cool threads that came out of a shitposting OPs (like Black Spires), but generally I don't think that much changed overall.

>>43953692
/tg/ is still able to do it. But there are people who think that /tg/ owes them a good thread full of productive discussion in reply to their bad post devoid of content. Why not just post something good instead of v-style greentext? Chances are, you'll get a more productive thread out of it.

Also, yes, this is meta-discussion now, and I'm a faggot. I'm sorry.

>>43953796
The problem isn't the shitposts, it's that you respond to shitposts with more shitposting instead of either A. ignoring it or B. providing good content.

If you actually go into a thread to tell them they are shit, you are as bad if not worse than WHATEVER the thread originally was.
This goes for me too. That I have to explain this to you means I am as bad as you.

Lame. I like the idea of totally illogical but hyper specific curses like Ranma 1/2 bullshit where the curse turns you into a very specific thing, regardless of your default form. Like, being a werewolf means being a big furry humanoid man wolf, even if you weren't a man to begin with or weren't humanoid. Like a slime could contract lycanthropy and it'd force it to become humanoid as well as lupoid, and when the full moon or whatever wore off it'd just bubble out into a slime again making no sense whatsoever.
>>
>>43964504
I actually like the idea of this kind of working, but in the example you gave, the werewolf would still have some attributes from when it was a slime during a full moon, which gives all kids of crazy combinations credence like ghost werewolves.

>Fingernails are not bones, they're made of keratin

I don't know what system you use, but most systems I've played use the description:

"turn bones or bodies of dead creatures into undead skeletons or zombie"

Aka, you have to have the -body- of a -creature- to animate. Or their bones, plural.

This means that you could not animate trees like >>43968828
suggested, because trees aren't creatures (definition being an animal, as distinct from a human being.)

You couldn't do finger nails. You couldn't do dead skin.

The description of most "animate dead" spells are pretty air tight.

Sorry friend.

There are undead creatures made from bits aside from the whole body or bones.
Skinkite, brain in a jar, and blood amniote just off the top of my head. If those can be made than there's absolutely no reason an especially creative and studious necromancer couldn't animate other dead tissues.

That would require, at my table at least, a different spell. The spell effects are written with a purpose and I don't see a reason to arbitrarily disregard them.

I run a 5e campaign so look at druid cantrips

Produce Flame lets you deal fire damage to an enemy. Druidcraft, while it lets you light fires as large as a campfire, does not allow you to do damage. But why not? If you can light a campfire, you could light a guy's shirt on fire and that would damage him, but the spell doesn't allow that.

It's for mechanical balance. Druidcraft has way more utility than Create Fire, so if it could deal damage too not only would it be too good for a cantrip, it would make Create Fire nearly pointless.

I may homebrew some rules to change things about the format that no one at the table finds fun, but there's no reason to start screwing with the core functionality of the player's available actions.
>>
>>43969124
So just give Druids control over the undead. Problem solved.
>>
>>43969736
Just had an interesting conversation with another DM I know about humans. Since the description says "Animate Dead", at least in most D&D formats, effects "creatures" which would either be english defined as any animal -but- humans, or using the monster manual definition as anything that is potentially interacted with and fought that comes out of the monster manual, you could have two really different situations.

Either you can raise and make any animal into zombies, except for humans. OR, you can turn literally anything into a zombie (from celestials, to constructs, as they're all a part of the monster manual "Creature" classification).

You could even argue that Constructs and the like are never alive to begin with, so you wouldn't even have to kill them first....

That's not what the word means in the English language; humans are creatures just as much as any animal.
