Would you vote for a dragon president?

Depends, is he pro gun? Because guns are awesome.
>>
>>43924046
Yes, because I trust a dragon to be smarter than a dumbass human.

I certainly wouldn't discriminate against a candidate based on their race. Unless they're a shuggoth, because shuggoth politics leave a bad taste in yer mouth.
>>
>>43924102
I believe they're called "artillery" at that point.

>>

>>
>>43924046
Probably. What's the worst that could happen?
>>
>>43924046
If they don't seem to be any more evil than the other politicians vying for the job then sure, probably.
>>
A dragon's going to do everything in his power to protect his hoard, while playing the longest of cons.

If I'm going to be owned by a government, might as well make it a scary-competent one.
>>
Yes because dragons in politics are my fetish.

It's an excuse to put in a recurring BBEG the party can't kill for political reasons mixed with the fact that doing so would be fucking hard.

Then you get Good and Evil teaming up to fuck up undead armies and shit because dragons as leaders are prone to either pragmatic decisions or getting bored and deciding to fuck shit up because it's profitable and they haven't fucked shit up already this decade.
>>
>>43924046
Absolutely not. Any Dragon that doesn't use a combination of cunning, shapeshifting, and his awesome power to become a tyrannical dictator does not deserve my respect and support. Once a dragon shows he has the cojones to get shit done then I'll gladly welcome my new dragon overlords.
>>
>>43924183
Ohh, they're almost certainly as/more evil than the other guy. But I'll take a competent evil over a lesser one any day.
>>
>>43924183
My personal dragon president check list is as follows:

>Is he cute?
>Does he have a tie?

If both of these are yes, he has my vote.
>>
>>43924217
I dunno, some settings have non-evil or even actively good dragons, so I'm not ready to make that kind of assumption in a setting-neutral sort of thread like this.
>>
>>43924278
I'm not going to argue against the existence of good dragons. Good politicians, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. And if you're going to try to coerce a populous into voting for you being an evil fire breathing bastard with enough charisma to spare certainly doesn't hurt.
>>
>>43924278
That is a shadowrun dragon, anon, they're selfish power-hungry great worms, except firewing, she's an insane tree hugger.

So yes, I'd vote for the D man
>>
>>43924527
Wasn't one of the dragons a good guy?

Also, I've always wondered why Shadowrun didn't have dragons that were good guys, but still total assholes.
>>
>>43924553
A lot of the dragons are good guys, in that they are doing their best to protect the world from the next scourge.
>>
>>43924553
That would be firewing. She cares about preserving Gaia. The others are just playing immortal power games over the Ages. None of them are evil, per say, they just view us how we view rabbits. Useful, but not individually important.
>>
>>43924100

I however would totally vote for the Dragon party. I don't think they'd even need to make a proper manifesto, just a poster with a picture of their dragon.

>And his talking points were just sort of vaguely about recharging america and restoring american spirit.

This is what's so unsettling about dragons in shadowrun - they've been asleep for 4,000 years but it takes them no time at all to suss out the modern human and learn how they expect their presidents and ceos to talk.

It's a shame that the President Dunkelzahn plot didn't foreshadow the birther movement, it would have been sick if it was a plot point that he had to produce or fake evidence that he'd been born on the North American continent (unlikely, since as Mountainshadow he laired in the region of modern Ukraine).

At least Shadowrun predicted the political career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, it'll always have that.

Nope

I don't trust a non-human's goals and ideals to align with my own.

The fact that they are hilarious smart makes it even more difficult to ascertain if they aren't just deceiving you by playing a long game.

Combine that with their deep interest in hoarding wealth and power and I see little value to a dragon as even a private citizen... at best they are a sequestered sage of the sorts like Paarthunax.

Call it what you like... expecting a scaled embodiment of greed and cunning to play by our rules is dumb.

We are vermin compared to such creatures.

Any who would willingly lower themselves to negotiate on our political level is either toying with us, desperate, or deranged by their own standards.

It's like watching some strange adult wander a kid's clubhouse and exploiting his stature and knowledge to get himself elected king of the fucking playround! Except that's a better analogy for an elf in politics, because at least elves are running roughly the same hardware/software on a physiological basis!

>>43929906
Except under such circumstances, economic profit usually balances out to zero, and the downsizing of the subsidies and bureaucracies and tarrifs would actually decrease overall concentration of Wealth as the economic flow naturally moves to optimize and equalize gains from trade across the board, decreasing overall dead weight loss for both the consumer and producer. Further it also incentivises domestic markets to either specialize or diversify in order to take advantage of comparative advantage of the different national firms in the national market.

So if anything, it would decrease the wealth in the federal institutes, and delineate wealth in the private sector as arbitrage and entrepreneurial innovation and market entry competes away profits.

>>
>>43930399
No, because excessive interference in the market and enforced autarky actually harms economic growth and reduces total gains from trade, plus usually the economic policies made to "protect" domestic business just slows down the economy and produces dead weight loss.

This question is impossible to answer without more information.

Is this a dragon that just appeared in our reality, out of nowhere, and said "Yo, imma run for president?" Then fuck no, no way he's not evil. In fact, our best bet is to capture him and make sure he never escapes, because he's almost definitely trying to take over the world or some shit.

Is this a dragon that has grown up here? Okay, maybe, but only if you consider all the things that make dragons dragon-like in personality (namely, extreme greed and pride) to be remnants of culture, not race. I don't want to vote for somebody who's biologically compelled to act like a more arrogant version of one of those neo-nazi caricatures of Jews.

Even then it's iffy. What's his/her political record? Does he/she have a good understanding of economics, foreign policy, and domestic policy? Is he/she attractive?

Assuming that they aren't biologically evil and a good candidate otherwise, sure. That would be cool as fuck, actually. Especially if they wore a cute tie like in the OP Picture.

How fast could I sign up with Google to crush Apple?

Also, could I use Steve Jobs as a decoration in my house?

post more casual wear dragons

Tried to turn metahumanity into Drakes.

So... TF was D's fetish? Wonder what the other Great dragons' are.
>>
>>43940246
I'd be down with that shit. I mean, you get magic, and you can assume a human form at any time. Plus you could have dragon sex, which HAS to be better than normal sex.

It's basically a straight upgrade.
>>
>>43940658
>Making deals with dragons
Never do that unless you read the terms and conditions. For all you know, becoming a Drake will also make you a hermaphrodite. Yeah that sounds hot, but you might get the male kind. Male herms only score dom chicks or fags who are still in the closet and think it's not gay if the other dude has a vag. It fucking sucks
>>
>>43924217
Any evil is better than Trump evil.
>>
>>43940902
I mean I'm cool with dom chicks and closet fags.

Still, I highly doubt that any dragon is gonna be that perverted. Sure, he'll turn all of humanity into dragons so he can get laid easier, but I doubt he'll inject his personal magical realm into it that much.
>>
>>43941024
Any sort of competence is better than Trump "competence".
>>
>>43941737
Remember, dragons are just scaly wizards, do not doubt the pervertedness of wizards.
>>
If this occurred, I would probably join ISIS or something just for the opportunity to go slay myself a dragon.

Human pride worldwide, ugly oversized lizards and their little cult members can go fuck themselves
>>
So, here's a question:

Why is the concept of "Modern life, but if fantasy existed" so unseen? All the franchises that try to do it wind up with a crapsack world or a world where fantasy takes up 80% of everything. Why can't we have a world where the fantasy aspects blend into modern life seamlessly?

Vampires of Dresden Files seem to be doing okay
>>
>>43942070
...how far in are you?

Cause you're right, Dresden files and iron druid both do it well, but shit happens.
>>
>>43942087
Okay at integrating/masquarading in society. Not other things. They are Vampires after all.
>>
>>43942122
Have you read Changes? I'd say the poor judgment the red court shows there shows a distinct disconnect from reality.

I was going to make some snappy comment about how Michelangelo's paintings looked bizarre before I remembered his sculptures didn't look like sacks filled with lumpy potatoes.

While I doubt a dragon would desire something as fleeting as a presidency, I would wholly support a draconic monarchy. They have wisdom of the ages, are fiercely protective of what they own (would likely foster economic growth, as well as military development for defense and conquering), and aren't as painfully short sighted as 95% of human politicians are.

And worst comes to worse, they can eat opposing politicians during debates.

I actually wrote (and am in the process of re-writing) a pilot script based on that concept. It's about a human magical engineer in New York and the antics he and his coworkers (dragon magical engineer, sarcastic elven head of marketing, excitable Goblin quality assurance engineer) get into.

Chances of it getting picked up are hovering somewhere around zero, but I like the concept.

They're objectively superior in every way. As Ayn Rand said, "Love is the expression of one’s values, the greatest reward you can earn for the moral qualities you have achieved in your character and person" Loving what is objectively superior is the pinnacle of health.

Didn't he blow himself up?
>>
>>43955793

Yeah. He magically asploded in a literal self-sacrifice that left behind blood-magic related anti-space, all in order to power an arcane orichalcum artifact that was necessary to destroy a metaplanar bridge (and all future bridges) Aztechnology elites were building to bring across the horrors out of the misguided belief they would honor their service and put them on top in the world.
