Assuming the Tau replace the Imperium as the dominant power. What would be your reaction?
>>
What's with all the Tau cocksucking in 40k lately?
>>
They just become necrons 2.0
>>
>>43897565
I wouldn't really care so long as GW keeps producing new, awesome models with neat and interesting rules to play them with, and allows me to continue playing as I do now.
>>
>>43897565

>implying this would ever happen

Taufags are the worst.
>>
>>43897768

Considering the Tau faction is animu-inspired, that's hardly surprising.
>>
>>43897768
ell, now that their blocked behind a firewall, they could grow to massive proportions completely unchecked.
>>
>>43897565

No problem, if the Tau get their own disaster (like Fall of the Eldar and Horus Heresy)
>>
>>43897905
>tau drones begin to defect
>still belive in the greater good, but that they have to get rid of the tau to do so
>tau have to fight their own tech.

It could be an interesting way to make humans more sympathetic actually. Stop being the evil empire and instead be the heroic underdogs.

>>
>>43897565
Disinterest in the setting as a whole
>>
I read that the tau just took lost millions of warriors and stuff in the damocles gulf but the thread died before i could ask, how well can tau take a loss like that?
I know that half the crusade fleet died but the imperium has taken bigger hits than that and bounced back, is there any fluff that states the tau population?
>>
>>43897565
Mild disinterest. I like all the sub factions of the Imperium
>>
>>43898694

Tau grow up faster than humans and their empire is quite large. Should it overcome without major damage.
>>
>>43898856
><100 inhabited planets, and that's including their client races
>quite large.
>>
>>43898948

This. There are probably more Kroot inhabited worlds in the galaxy than there are worlds in the Tau Empire.
>>
>>43898948
>>43899005
So how badly would these losses affect them?
I dont know if the writers thought about how much a sudden massive decline in population might affect the tau empire, such as relying more on auxillaries, or developing cloning or advanced reproduction methods.
>>
>>43899083
Its a big loss, but they do have hundreds of worlds. Even if all of those only have a billion people each, millions of casualties aren't insurmountable.
>>
>>43898948
>>43899146

Now I'm confused.
>>
>>43899273
The tau dont have many worlds compared to the imperium and their empire is kinda small, but it still has a pretty big population, just not when you compare it to other races.
>>
Finally the stagnation will break and something interesting and worthwhile will happen with the setting.
But since the majority consists from faglords like >>43898373>>43898440 setting will remain a boring shithole till the dawn of GW.

It's been that way since the beginning. Only now with the Mont'ka campaign they are coming out of the woodwork.

That and the hardcore Imperialfags, though that isn't surprising.

Those are the only 2 fanbases that take 40k WAAAAY too seriously.
>>
>>43897968
>just a other iron man rebellion.

Come on that's a bit boring isn't it. I'm all for the Tau having a fall of some kind but at least make it something interesting.
>>
>>43899558
I imagine it would have something to do with the ethereals, theres obviously something weird about them, and the maybe the subject races.
Some sort of civil war as the tau put more pressure on their client races, and theres also the farsight enclaves too.
>>
>>43899083
The Thirds Sphere gave the Tau access to Hive Worlds and I'm pretty sure even Forge Worlds to increase their production output exponentially. It would have allowed the Empire to seriously consider rapid expansion with the amount of resources/goods produced.

Losing all that after investing so much to get them back to top efficiency(after blowing them up to conquer them), that is a pretty large setback. Not to mention the millions of Tau in not just the workforce that went up with it. Imperials know how to cope with such losses because they deal with it all the time. Pretty sure this is the first time the Tau has had to deal with such a large loss of territory. And worse off their space pope is dead meaning the higher ups are scrambling to figure out how to fix shit before they can fix shit.
>>
I would probably stop playing. Generic science fiction army #238762324 has no appeal to me.

>Schism in the Empire
>With Aun'va dead, Farsight made an even greater hero to the Tau that no amount of propaganda can silence, there is a division in the Tau
>Farsight blames the Ethereals for such a horrible loss and demands they be removed from power
>Half the Empire sides with him while the other half call him a psychopath
>Civil war with Farsight trying to assert control of the Empire, and Shadowsun fighting to keep him bottled up
>Both sides secretly aided by the Inquisition to keep the war going.

>>

Then Farsight joins the Imperial, boosting the Imperials tech and having a new alliance with a xeno group.
>>
>>43899821
Nah see I've been thinking by bringing Chaos into the mix, that would give the Imperium an excuse to have a physical presence in the war.

Chaos Wizards experimenting on Fire Caste warriors, subjecting them to brainwashing techniques and submerging them in some chemical cocktail to increase aggression all to create the perfect slave-soldier for CSM. , slowly wresting control of the Empire away from the Ethereals and more towards Warlord <Some Chaos Name>. Imperium is there to stop that because the last thing they need is Tau tech being used by Chaos.
>>
>>43897565
Such a lust for bad sales

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
>>
>>43899888
Maybe the ethereals themselves become corrupted and begin spreading chaos worship around?
I can imagine fire warriors willingly pledging for khorne, despite not engaging in glorious close quarters combat.
>>

So there would be Chaos Taus and The Imperium of Man would get better guns that do diddley, and space marines gets tougher/faster armor.

I reckon that it would lead to them becoming much more bitter and oppressive, having to fight long gruelling wars against other sapient beings, who they were willing to work with.

>>
>>43900676
Are the necrons and tyranids evil?
Most necrons have no free will or thought whatsoever, and the nids, as far as we know, are just animals doing what comes naturally.
>>
>>43897565
Eh. I might actually be willing to play the tabletop RPG then when it's proposed rather than saying "not a chance", I guess.

I think a more interesting question would be:

>What if they introduced a wide variety of different alien factions (like 6-8 new alien-based armies) rather than dozens of flavors of humans and space marines.
And the answer is: "I just might go pick up 40k again."

But then, I find the Imperium to be basically the most obnoxious and irritating piece of IP in gaming, so, that's no surprise.
>>
>>43900726
>it's literally in their nature to be destructive and murderous
>so they're not evil.

I'll be you get a B average and go to a middle-ranking school too. You're probably considered getting a tumblr.
>>
>>43900726
>and the nids, as far as we know, are just animals doing what comes naturally.

The Hive Mind has been described as intelligent in various places, and is able to rationalise and make informed decisions. It doesn't just act on animal instinct. The old 2nd/3rd edition era short story "Hive Fleet Horror" also described the Hive Mind as having a distinct goal; to ensure that the Tyranid race existed forever by forcibly harvesting new genetic material, which it could use to both refresh its own genetic code and quickly adapt to any threat it came across.

And while most Necrons have no free will, the ones which do are the ones who's actions affect the universe, and they are neither peaceful nor benevolent.

>is there any fluff that states the tau population?

I doubt there are any official numbers - and even if there were, it would probably be best not to rely on them too heavily, because GW - but according to Planetstrike: Ork meteor base applied to Tau capital city = several billion dead Tau. Though the only certain thing you can take from that is that one Tau world had a population numbering in the billions.

(There are bound to be other such examples elsewhere, this is just one that comes to mind.)
>>
I say good for the plucky little tau. I'm sure the fluff up until their dominance would be full of glorious last stands and line holding. Ultimately here's how I think think it would shake out
>imperium fights tooth and nail, but gets beaten back to imperium core worlds.
>Terra(obvi) Armageddon, Cadia, Major forge worlds all remain strongholds
>Proximity to forge worlds greatly simplifies supply lines
>finally enough food and ammo for everyone
>Imperial Navy now maintains the Imperial blockade, and do so effectively since now they aren't prolong an area a million times bigger than they have ships for.
>space marines are now far fewer and mostly fleet based, focus on boarding missions above all else.
>eventually fire warriors are a rarity on the battlefield. Converted humans do moat of the heavy lifting.
I'd be interested to see how the tau deal with Chaos as well.

From this statement, we can deduce that you don't like humanity.
This generally stems from a hatred of oneself, and more specifically certain qualities that one does not like but has no control over.
Your post uses homosexual perjoratives to attack those you disagree with. Such verbal attacks indicate that you find homosexuality unappealing.
Hatred of gay buttfucking is generally known to stem from seeing oneself in gay buttfucking scenarios.
Therefore we can deduce that you, anon, hate the quality of yourself that you use to attack others: specifically, your closet homosexuality.

Or, in short: you're a faggot, faggot.

I think it was mentioned that the Tau have developed an unhealthy fascination with Imperial warp technology. In the "Return of the Primarchs" writefaggotry that was made on 4chan a while ago the idea was that a civil war occurred in the Tau Empire because they modified their eugenics program in order to gain increased warp sensitivity which opened the door to chaos corruption.

That firewall isn't the first time the AdMech pull something straight out of the DAoT. They tried closing the Eye of Terror with a "reality bomb" once. It failed but most likely because the Eye was too large. The firewall makes me think the AdMech is pulling this sort of stuff out more because they know humanity's time is nearly out and they might as well attempt to do something flashy to delay the inevitable. Or because it might be cool to test it before they die. May God Emperor have mercy on the Tau if the AdMech pull out the truly horrifying stuff to test.

If you hate man and what you are then go die. Stop being self loathing and cowardly and bite the bullet, worm. Because you may hate what you are and mad that we are dominant over all else on this earth, but we still survive without you. We continue on despite constant struggle. Actually, it was a smaller warp storm, the Gyre or something. Out in the bumfuck part of space, but it had enclosed a Forge World millenia ago, and the Mechanicus wanted it back.

It worked. The warp storm was cleared and the Forge World (now infested with Chaos-worshippers) revealed, though the bomb was not big enough to clear all of the storm, limiting ship movement in the area.

This is a weapon that causes warp entities to spontaneously cease to exist. It works. And the Mechanicus knows how to build more, and make them bigger.

The Despoiler is fucked. The Imperial Webway can be closed and secured. The Emperor's vigil can end.

Mechanicus science is the best in the galaxy.

And how.

http://web.archive.org/web/20070312003537/http://medusav.uk.games-workshop.com/campaign/factions/tau/tau-c.htm

>Let the histories of our glorious Empire reflect the truth of the dying days of Medusa V.

>For long weeks, the Fire Caste defended the Celestial Accumulator against the assaults of our enemies. Our brothers spilt much blood as they fought to buy time for the Earth Caste to complete its observations of the rapidly encroaching etheric phenomena. At the last, the relays were one by one overloaded as the skies boiled away. Only the bank accumulator main, atop Charybdis Crest, was able to stay on line until the end. Of the fate of the Earth Caste technicians manning it, however, the histories must remain silent for the sake of the Greater Good.

>Of the Earth Caste’s mission on Medusa V, the histories shall record an important lesson learned. Though more time is required to analyse the data transmitted as the world died, initial reports are unequivocal. The Tau must never again delve into the secrets of that alternate realm the Gue’la call “The Warp.” The images and the sounds transmitted by the Accumulator’s staff at the end confirm this initial assessment. The Warp is no place for the Greater Good and is best left to those foolhardy races who cannot pull back from that terrible realm. Our borders will be expanded as ever they have been – through steady, determined progress and not through the perilous shortcut of the Warp.
>>
>>43897565

For the greater good.

The Medusa campaign was retconned to have happened sometime before the Third Shpere Expansion. Whatever happened there, it did not change their minds in the pursuit of Warp technology as we saw in Kauyon and Mont'ka.

The imperium's not really human, they are the descendants of subhuman stone men, servants of the golden men (real humans) who went extinct before the stone men got into war with iron men (AI's).

This is the reason for things like the cyborgs of Quietude not recognizing Imperials as humans upon vivisection during the Great Crusade.

Though it's mostly just Blanche's inspiration, I like to think everyone being so fucking ugly in the Imperium is also because of their stone man genes.
>>

The Emperor's origins (be that shaman voltron or a perpetual who cheated Chaos Gods for a power boost) doesn't contradict the Golden Man/Stone man fluff at all, and neither do the perpetuals' existence.

It was passed down to him by those before him which inevitably means somebody changes something. Now multiply this passing down by 10 or 20 thousand year. It's literally how legends are made

Perhaps, but if something was changed we don't know what.

The only thing that would change in the Golden Man - Stone Man fluff by the addition of the perpetuals is some Golden Men continuing to live in Stone Man society.
