Chaos Terminators: I know they're pricey, but I'm mainly taking them for casual/not too competitive games as suicide DS units. One group is 3 of them with combi meltas and 2 power axes, 1 chain fist, for tkaing out armor.

How should I outfit a second group? Again, they are a DS suicide unit for taking out a particular threat. Should I grab another axe/combi melta unit, or something else (for infantry, other stuff)?
>>
>>43890567
If you want Anti-Infantry, go Combi-Flamer and Power Mauls, or dual Lightning Claws. I've had good results with that.

One of the advantages we have over Loyalists is that we can mix and match our Termies in the same squad. It's not that effective at small squad levels, but at large squad levels a mix of LC's and Combi-Flamers w/ Heavy Flamer can be really fucking mean.

This is probably the wrong place to ask this to get a realistic answer, but I'm gonna ask it anyway.

How much profit do you think 3rd party model companies make?

Do you think business like Kromlech etc actually make a big profit or just get by?

agree with this completely I just don't know many other 3rd party sites so I just used them as an example.
>>
>>43891112
Get buy. I'm sure Raging Heroes made a decent profit on their Kickstarters though. It's probably minor amounts.

There are two kinds, Kings of War tier who make bulk models of low quality, or Kingdom Death tear which make expensive resin models which means small quantities.

So, yeah, not great but it's a job.

You made me replay DoW2 and I'm at the end now where you just farm defence missions for gear. Shame none of them are good. I want a purple heavy bolter or something, best I get is blue. I swear DoW2 had a couple of purples.

I've played the game over and over, trying to get Forgebreaker, but it just never happens.

Fuck loot-grabbing, too. I always get a high-rarity weapon drop from the boss, and then the cutscene kicks in and it just sits there, taunting me.
>>
>>43891267
Is that in the original DoW2? I don't ever remember getting purples in the first one. Only in Chaos Rising and Retribution.
>>
>>43891256
Bases are bases, so you can forgive it a bit more. My main problem with Kromlech is how cartoony all their shit is. I mean, look at the not!Leman Russ turrets. Would you really want to put one of those on your models?

I play Admech, too, so I really want to like Hi-Tech's Bio-Tech Covenant stuff, but it's all clunky and fat where it shouldn't be.

Apparently nobody but GW knows how to make a tech-priest that doesn't look like shit.

Haven't kept up with 40k for about 2 years. Played Tau since 4th ed and stopped when the 6th ed codex came out. I'm considering getting back into the game, this time with vanilla marines. I'm thinking about making a list focused on drop pods, but not necessarily dead set on it.

Question to vanilla marine players: What lists are fun to play? Don't give a fuck about the meta whatsoever.

Pic related, it's the chapter I plan on painting.

A "beatstick" unit is generally just one that hits very hard, and is often able to move (or be moved, via transport or Deep Strike) very quickly to facilitate aggressive tactics. It's the sort of squad you bring specifically to wipe out whatever enemy units you most need dead, rather than holding objectives or providing support.
>>
>>43892417
You don't need squads to finish the game. Just get good gear. I've completed every campaign. I remember a green Fusion Gun for Eldar was better than epics. It really fucking irritated me.

Those "reloads less frequently" or whatever really boost your DPS. In original DoW2 I switched a HB out for a Missile Launcher which only does less damage, but fires 3 missiles before having to reload. That obviously keeps the DPS near HB level, but the main draw is being able to hit Focus Fire and see three missiles slam into tanks.

Tarkus's 989 range DPS due to a Lv.16 Stormbolter having something like reduced cooldown or something ability shoots his DPS up another 400.

>>43892394
Not really, no. Some stuff is OP, the Wasps for Eldar were OP, but I think they've been updated. Corsairs are apparently OP now. Manticore Missile Batteries and Earthshaker Artillery Carridges are OP due to the price for what you get. Sure, you can't move, but you can fit in more and that's all that really matters. Manticore are more OP obviously as you've fired them off before they ever get to charge you. ES are fucked if you get into firing arc.

My logic was that since they're in rhinos and not drop pods plasma would be more useful with a longer range. You really think plasma is that bad? even with the FNP from chapter tactics?

And there really isn't any plan for flyers because nobody actually uses flyers all that often at my store. I guess I'd use the NDKs heavy psycannons and hope for 6s.
>>
>>43892932
>>43892915
Not a bad idea, just make sure you play with a decent amount of LoS-blocking cover. Markerlights+AP3 weapons make it pretty easy for a Tau army to get rid of a Jetbike unit quickly if they have the chance.
>>
>>43893023
Optimal range for plasma guns is 12" for rapid fire. Grav guns are just as good if not better at that range against anything you actually need AP2 to hurt. It's just a better rule than boring S7 AP2 gets hot!

I say this as a plasma fanboy. There is no reason to take plasma on anything that can take grav instead.
>>
>>43892664
Are they Space Marines?

Are they wearing actual Space Marine Power Armor?

Is there anything on them a normal Space Marine Veteran wouldn't have access to?

Then no, no problem. MkVI was used mostly by RG, but still got distributed widely, and is an entirely effective armor pattern that nobody would object to using.

>>43893186
>There is no reason to take plasma on anything that can take grav instead.

Plasma Guns can inflict Penetrating Hits on vehicles, are better at damaging lighter vehicles and infantry with poor saves, and can inflict Instant Death on T3 targets. Grav is fantastic against the heaviest vehicles and infantry, but Plasma is more of an all-rounder. It might not be as good as Grav against some units, but it's better against others. Grav-guns on Tactical Squads don't generally bother my Dark Eldar in the slightest, but massed Plasma can be an issue.

as balanced as I could with the models I own. Some grav on the centurions, plasma on the tacticals (with lots of bodies for target saturation), psycannons and incinerators on the grey knights for real gud ap4, and enough GKs to work as a mana battery for Loth using either Telepathy or Biomancy. AV13 or 14 could be a problem since I'm lacking melta, but I've got Daemonhammers on the NDKs and one in the Terminator squad. I guess the big decisions I'm trying to make now is whether to put meltas or plasma on the tacticals...it feels like a waste to put meltas on tacticals that will start on rhinos and might not ever get within 12/6 inches of an enemy vehicle.

Every marine player I know uses plasma gun bits and calls them grav and nobody bats an eye. Even at LVO.

>>43893543
Pens on vehicles are shite when you only have a 1/6 chance of blowing things up. Grav is an auto-immobilize and strips hull points like a mad cunt, which is the more efficient way to kill vehicles. Anything that has a shit armor save laughs at grav but is terrified of bolters anyway.

Some of the items you can turn in for your choice of gear can provide purple weapons - the 1st Gift of the Artificers can give you a purple sniper rifle, the Salvaged Weapon can be traded in for a purple lascannon, and the 2nd Gift can be redeemed for a purple axe, heavy bolter, shotgun, or bolter.
I think the Space Hulk missions also had a purple holy Terminator Armor that you had to destroy all the item crates to find

>Grav is an auto-immobilize and strips hull points like a mad cunt

If those sixes come up, and that's the problem. It's unreliable unless you use it en masse. For units like Devastators and Centurions which have access to multiple Grav-Cannons with Amps that's not a problem, but I've never been convinced by Grav-guns in Tactical squads. It's a crapshoot whether or not you'll get the sixes you need. Plasma can reliably ding Hull Points on AV10/11 vehicles and can shake/stun them to limit their firepower, which Grav can't.

>>43893795
I generally run my Eldar very aggressively, using a couple of Wave Serpents with Dire Avengers and Wraithguard, a squad of Vypers, and a squad of Jetbikes to pile down one flank and quickly join them with Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks (usually led by an Autarch to make sure they arrive on-time) entering via Deep Strike. Dark Reapers and a few token Guardian Squads hang back on the objectives and provide fire support. It works pretty well and avoids the most overpowered units in the Codex, which some opponents will appreciate.

You know, I was up for the idea of a "my army vs your Titan" match before they added that extra bullshit "hit on 6es and immune to haywire" shit.

Yes cool take away the specific anti-Titan methods a non-Titan army would use so it becomes joyless to face that's fine.

I suppose their ass-backward logic is that doing a "Try to kill my Titan" match is for pussies and only Titan/Titan duels are allowed.

I find the Kromlech MANZ to be far more detailed and much more proppa looking than the boxy little MANZ GW sells. Especially the Killsaws; GW's ones are bloody tiny, whilst the Kromlech ones look like they're capable of sawing a Titan's leg off.

So, I was reading through the Chaos Space Marine codex today... I want to know, why is it that Space Marine Librarians can learn Daemonology (Malefic) but Chaos Space Marine Sorcerers, can't?

I mean, that makes loyalists better at summoning Daemons than the traitors that actively worship them, or am I missing something?
>>
>>43895418
That's an excellent question.

The answer can be found on page 404 of Codex: Chaos Space Marines.
>>
>>43895418
They were printed in sixth edition when there was no daemonology.
They can take it though.
>>
>>43895418
Yes they can.
>>
>>43893831

I checked everything available to me and since it's undefined you'll need to find a consensus, either it has no HP whatsoever, meaning you can't glance it at all, or you take the old 6th ed rules, which would make it a small building with 3 HP.

Personally I'd count it as a small building and thus 3 HP.
>>
>>43895459
I would say the same.
>>
>>43895418
All Psykers can use Daemonology, with the exception of Grey Knights who can't take Malefic, Daemons who can't use Sanctic, and Tyranids who can't use either. IIRC at least; there's a clause in the core rulebook.
>>
>>43895418
All psykers can learn both Daemonology schools (execpt grey knights/daemons who have to stick to their own), they only list it in the newer codexes to remind players of it.

Everything from a zoanthrope brood to an eldar farseer can summon squads of daemonettes, plague drones, bloodthirsters, you name it!
>>
>>43895484
To add to this, Eldar and Harlequins can only use sanctic.
>>
>>43895309
>>43895376
I believe in the Emperor and he'll reward me for my faith.

I think I'd do a small one of each. But I want the Thanatar at least and the Infernus Malcador for IG.
>>43895392
That's the problem, there isn't any cute Eldar models. Not even any good 3rd parties afaik.
>>
>>43895418
The rulebook says that every army has access to the Daemonology discipline. This is because the Daemonology discipline was brought in with the release of the 7th edition which would have meant that no army had access to the discipline so the rulebook stated that every army has access to the discipline with the exceptions that Grey Knights can't use Malefic and daemons can't use Santic.

How can a Riptide make use of it when it's a Signature system? i say this because it clearly says 'Models with suits' and gives a re-roll to the Nova reactor, something only a Riptide has.
