Arguing won't stop now. /tg/ was apathetic about shitposters, now they're here shitpost forever.

But, those who tried to point this out were told to "ignore it", well, I hope if you get a cancer tumour, you'll ignore that too. I mean, that always makes it go away, right?

Once upon a time, people would stick to their own threads. Warmahordes didn't come to 40k and vice-a-versa unless they played both. FoW stayed in it's own thread. Now people go into other threads just to shitpost, because they think it's allowed. Look at AoS, it's been nonstop shitposting for 8 months now.

But it's just AoS, right? Who cares. It won't spread into 40k or CYO() or whatever, right? We won't have cunts like Carnac will we? :)

No I'm saying that /tg/ has let shitposters and trolls establish roots and 99% of people are apathetic about them. It is literally board sanctioned shitposting because we allow it to happen. AoS is a major example, but it's in 40k now with Tau shitposts done specifically to piss people off. Like the "oh this is a fun casual list of Tau for 1000 points" and it has 2 Riptides in. Cue dozens of replies.

Considering an Imperial Knight to take alongside my Blood Angels army.
What's the best load out for a Crusader?
Also, outside of the obvious choice of a Crusader what is the next best choice for a knight? I think the Paladin is good overall but I like the Errant too because the Thermal Cannon basically deletes everything it touches.

Centurion Armor becomes a 2W model with 3+.
On death during a shooting phase, place a Space Marine model with single bolt pistol (if ranged) or frag grenades (if melee) where the original model was removed.
If killed during an Assault phase, neither variant may place their model down to replace them, as they cannot evacuate their armor. The assault centurion, however, will detonate his frag grenades. Place a Blast Marker over the center of the assault centurion killed in melee, and resolve hits against all models under the marker as though they were hit by a frag grenade. These hits occur at the initiative step of 1.

Y/N
I asked in last thread and all it became was Termis vs Cents. I want to know if it's a decent idea to separate them from being just another marine infantry model.

Cool, but would only allow the frag-suicide if the Centurion squad is wiped out. They really shouldn't be popping frags into each other the second they die.

>>
>>43884367
Same squad. Having 3 different targets you gotta shoot at because those fuckers are on the VP would be retarded.

How about:
If the unit would be wiped out in assault, instead place a blast marker over each surviving centurion, hitting all targets under it as though they were hit by a frag grenade.
The enemy may attempt to stop the marines with an opposed initiative test, stopping any grenades from being detonated.

So I brought my 1250 Dread Mob against a cool IG tank bro and had a decent game. My biggest regret is not bringing a phone charger...

He let me proxy my Deff Dreads double rokkits as double klaws which were his ultimate undoing.

This time I did not hesitate to slog the hole dread blob right into his tank command unit. It had two executioners. Only 4/6 of the Dreads made it in for CC but I ripped him apart on the charge.

My lootas popped a rhino and some guards spilled right into my grootzooka kan wall.

The turn after he finished up my dreads and big mek but I had gotten fairly lucky with objectives and had a strong lead.

We ended the game 9 to 6.

It says that hundreds of marines died in the initial stages of the conflict of war in Kauyon, and many more were wounded. It also says that some Tau weaponry destroyed the geneseed of some of the marine causalities.

The Mont'ka war was larger than Kauyon so the marine deaths must have been larger. I wouldn't feel wrong If I said that at least a chapter or two worth of marines were lost.

If I wanted to fix the Mark of Tzeentch, I'd have it give 5++ base and automatically grant Soul Blaze in both melee and range. I'd also make it so that Soul Blaze counters from different units stack and Soul Blaze automatically hits the turn that it's applied. The magnets which are used are very small and very strong (Neodym magnets, e.g. 2x1mm). You drill holes into the minature, glue the magnets into these holes, prime over if you want and that is it.

Nurgle isn't actally the god of poisoning, he's the god fear, decay, friendship and fortitude which manifests as plague and poison just like tzeentch isn't the god of birds.

It's the magical aspect of his plagues that makes them so unstoppable but the shadow of warp destroys the magical side of them making them mere illnesses. Also, they were not plagues tailored to the tyranids they were just a handful of plagues his daemons had lying around.

Im new to the game and reading through the rules, am i getting this right? Taking a cover save negates your armor/invuln? Instead of in addition too? Isnt that, you know, weird?
>>
>>43887362
In the codex you can find the guide to which parts you need to color that way, since the way to paint it is different if the model is a private, a veteran or a commander
>>
>>43887376
You take the best save available to you. If you have a 2+ cover and a 5+ armour, you take the cover save.

Not as strange as you think given that there's a difference between elements that gives you cover vs concealments. Most objects can't stop bullets.
>>
>>43887399
I'm not sure where you're getting that idea. It's just the way the system works, you aren't loosing any save you just take the best available. You move into 3+ cover with and armour save of 4+, you now benefit from 3+ cover. But if you get hit by a flamer, you lose the 3+ cover save and now take you armour of 4+ against it.

And this >>43887416
>>
>>43887399
Normally the weapon fired at an AP higher than your armour if you're taking a cover save, so it can be assumed that the mook stuck his head up at the wrong time by failing his cover save
>>
>>43887376
>Isnt that, you know, weird?

From a cinematic perspective, sure. It makes sense that if you're a Space Marine Captain with Power Armour and an Iron Halo, in a ruin, that a shot aimed at you would have to first miss the cover you're sheltering in, then penetrate the forcefield surrounding you, then finally get through your armour.

However for the sake of gameplay it doesn't work that way because it would make stuff a lot more survivable. So instead you just take the highest save you have.

Although on a related topic, given how focused 40K has become upon alpha strike, and how bad defensive play is, it might be interesting to see how the game would play if you did get access to your cover, armour and invil saves all together.
>>
>>43887416
Yeah, instead, models with high T and many W are nigh impossible to kill and Monstrous Creature vehicles rule the game.
>>
Cover

Cover is something that’s reinforced with concrete, steel, or earth that can block, absorb, or deflect small arms fire.

Concealment

Concealment is any surface that obscures you from your attacker. It can be something as simple as a hedgerow of bushes or even a door.
>>
>>43887269
That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing!

I'll have to give that a try when I get a Dunewalker.
>>
>>43887399
Would you imagine how long would a game be otherwise? Shooting 100 times against a unit of Space Marines (meaning that you have to roll hundreds of dices to hit and wound) would kill only a really low number of models if they could take 2 or 3 saves, which would make shooting in most cases useless and would make the game last even hours more
>>
>>43887424
I might suggest trying that with a friend. We both think the power levels with some armies have gotten out of hand.
>>
How's this for a house rule regarding saves:
>armour, invulnerable and cover can all be taken
>invun saves given by AoE type effects can be taken while in cover, but at a -1 modifier
The second one is to represent the field bubble not covering so well in confined/cluttered places
Also:
>any unit a that sufferers a Blind test, or passes a save from an item that causes blind tests (such as the Refractor Field) suffers -1 to cover saves if the game is under the effects of Night Fighting
>>
>>43887427
Agreed
But it'd be even worse if that Riptide could have his 2+ armour, his 5+ invuln, his 4+ ruins cover and finally his 5+ FNP
>>
>>43887438

Huh? I play Green Tide and games don't take that long.

Allowing models to take all their saves wouldn't slow things down much more. Of course it would add a bit more time, but really not that much.

20 Fire Warriors shoot at Marines behind standard cover. They roll to hit and wound as per normal. They cause 10 wounds. The Marines roll their cover save (5+) and make 2 saves. They then roll their armour saves (3+) and make 5 of them. 3 Marines fall over.

That's only one additional step compared to what we have now.

>>43887445

I'm actually interested in trying it out myself. The issue I think is that the top tier armies are the ones that also have access to Ignore Cover and AP1/2 weapons in copious armounts, meaning that this change would mean very little to the stuff they're shooting at, but it would make them even harder to kill. A Stormsurge in Ruins with a Shield Generator would be virtually invulnerable to an army like Orks or Chaos.
>>
Would a game balanced around 4-5 models like a herohammer equivalent with tons of environmental damage possibilities make being able to take all armour saves balanced?
>>
>>43887474

Not with the current ruleset, because that gameplay would favour tooled up beatsticks. Some armies, like DE, IG and Orks, simply can't build beatsticks.
>>
>>43887450
Of course, this is realising that it adds a MASSIVE amount to working through shooting
Adding caveats that
>cover is divided into Cover and Concealment
>Cover is negated by AP
>concealment is ablative, each game turn that a unit in concealment is the target of a shooting attack, the cover save conferred is reduced by one
And
>monstrous creatures suffer a -1 penalty to cover saves if stationary in its movement phase, and a -2 penalty if it moved. Gargantuan cannot take cover saves conferred by cover (but can take cover saves conferred by stealth in open terrain, Psychic powers, AOE effects, etc
>>
honestly, MCs and gargantuans shouldn't be able to take cover saves from simply being in area terrain, like their vehicle and super heavy counterparts
>>
>>43887462
Actually on average, after to hit and to wound and taking both saves, only 1 marine should fall over, so if the game goes on to it's maximum number of turns the 20 fire warriors would not be able to destroy the marine squad even if they took no losses.
>>
>>43887462
It's not only a problem of the additional step (that, anyway, repeated every shooting add a fair bit of time), but also a problem of number of models that survive. Let's say that you want to eliminate a unit because it's camping on an objective. It would take many more attacks to destroy it or make it run away from the objective

Next thing you're going to tell me is that orks are good in melee.
>>
>>43887524

Yes, it would make many models more survivable against some shooting. That's the point; 40K right now is massively geared towards offensive power over defensive.

As I said, the issue is that this would not fix the current game because the top tier armies just ignore cover and armour saves to a large extent. The army that would probably rise the most from this change would be Chaos because standard MEQ units would get a significant increase in survivability.

>>43887530

Tyranids probably become ungodly powerful, because MCs have fantastic baseline stats if wargear doesn't come into the equation.

The problem with a 2D6 save is you have to roll them one by one. Imagine having to do that against a round of FRFSRF lasgun shooting. Just give them a 2+ rerollable against anything AP6 or worse, the probability of failure is identical (1/36).

Dude Tyranids fleets have been destroyed by toxin for as long as I can remember. The big deal with Tyranids adapting is that usually those poisons can be used just one time and they have to kill every tyranid as fast as possible, because otherwise if even a bioship survive that ship will become immune and also start vomiting that poison back at you.

Nurgle plague don't work because of both the warp element that is stopped by the Shadow in the Warp and the fact that Nurgle plagues are rarely of the "kill everyone as fast as possible kind", and more of the "the entire hive become as sick as possible while still remaning alive or become a zombie", which allows Tyranids the time to evolve contermeasures.

You sound like this is a clash with the fluff, when it clearly isn't.

Terminator armour is powerful against certain enemies, but against dedicated anti armour, like Plasma, they melt like anything else. This is the same as it has always been. Remember Space Hulk? Genestealers are noted to cut through terminator armour as if it wasn't even there.

I think some of you people are putting a bit too much value into the terminator armour.

The only thing I agree with, is that anything under a certain level of strength or Armour penetration should grant a reroll to the terminator 2+ armour. It is impervious to small arms fire, and 2+ does not reflect that. Plasma weaponry has always been a problem for Terminators, both in fluff and in crunch, no need to change that.

just think of it this way: the flying bullet is strong enough to ignore all weak protections on its way, so only your best protection has a chance to negate the bullet.
It is like having a piece of paper, a peace of wood and a steel plate in a line and firing through them. Paper and wood will be ignored by the projectile but the steel plate might stop it.

So if you wear a T-Shirt and stand behind a wall and the bullet comes through the wall, then it is useless to throw the shirt protection.
If you wear power armour in the same situation and the bullet still flies through the wall, then the armour has a chance of protecting you.
If the wall is hard enough to stop the projectile, then you don't need to save with either T-shirt or power armour.

I do the same thing with the first legion which allows me to play the models in 30k and 40k SM or CSM. Thanks Luther for giving me that choice and thanks GW for the Consecrators which allows me to play 40 loyalists in old armour without warp accident excuse

Honestly, Tau PLAYERS are annoying, but Tau hasn't been annoying in this trilogy so far. W-we just don't think they are worth the attention!"

Seriously, people want grimdark, but whenever bad shit happens, imperial faggots are the first to claim nothing bad happened anyway. I think some of these people don't understand how 40k works, and somehow thinks the imperium is far more badass than it actually is.

And I have no affiliation with either faction, I just find it far more easy to stomach the tau wank than the imperial wank.

Not really.

A first founding chapter master getting killed being a drop in the water is a blatant lie, and the fact that they had to resort to cutting off the entire zone, using a rare weapon that would have made a lot more sense to use against, say, Tyranids, indicates that the Imperium thinks that Tau are a bigger threat than the Tyranids.

Or maybe it just indicates that the Imperium is full of dumb as fuck retards, because the first time they found the Tau, they were a backwater planet far away from space travel tech, and a few thousand years later, they are now a match against titan legions. Giving them more time seems like a hilariously bad idea.

Yeah, except for losing Space Pope, the Tau scored a landslide victory here. Repelling a numerically superior foe through superior tactics and technology.

Then the imperials fire-bombed their own lost planet, doing more damage to their own civilians (It's a fucking hive world, they must have killed billions of humans with that stunt compared to a couple straggler tau cadres who weren't in the capital) and... Incoherent space magic nonsense barrier, that the Tau are already almost immediately getting results in bypassing. And because holograms, it doesn't even matter they lost Space Pope. Heck, given that he was a manipulitiave cunt with schemes inside schemes for his society involving selling countless Tau lives, this is arguably a net gain.

Tau showing IOM the example of the "greater good."

No no man, single lightning claw on your dev sarge.

Model it as the Talon of Horus and tell your opponents he took it along with Abaddon's lunch money.

No, I am not. It's like I said they dud invent a shield that allows them to travel through it. They are in the process of perfecting it.

I just thought of a way how things could have been better for the Imperials. In the Night Lord series Talos cranked up the volume on his vox caster to 11 and screamed as loud as he could at some people in a space station. It didn't end too well for them. If every marine did that to the Tau things would have been different.

Yeah, almost immediately having a prototype means this is a trivial annoyance rather than a real issue.

Plus, the tests are almost certainly drone piloted, given that Tau are only lightly sprinkled with Grimdark instead of full blown grimderp.
>>
The Imperium should really stop trying to use Space Marines against Tau, it never ends well for the Marines.

They aren't near being able to spread this tech through all of their ships and its still in beta. Also, calling something slowly burning away your sector is a bit more then "An annoyance" all tau ships are grounded and can only talk to eachother.

It ended well for the Blood Ravens. There was one Tau who was mad that the Raven Guard was using tactics or maybe it was cover. The problem is that they sent the White Scars and not the Dark Angels. Only when there's a Fallen around would things end badly.

>Oh no, we are faced with problem
>lol, oh well, we'll just invet something to fix this

That's like 70% of Tau lore.

Why not just make weapons with high strenght penetrate cover?
>>
>>43889118
Yeah, its the shittiest way to solve your problems. No gambling, no lives on the line, no sacrifice. If the tau were the main protagonists, they would be from a very shitty writen fan fiction

I have a box of farseer & warlocks and a box of guardians.

What more do I need to create a starter army for Eldar?
>>
Just do what Talos did and Tau removal will be easier when Tau are writhing in pain because you destroyed their hearing.
>>

>What more do I need to create a starter army for Eldar?

3 Wraith Knights and you're set, obv.
>>
>>43889157
60% of the Tau prototype weapons can kill their users (Riptides, portable Ion cannons, previously the Railguns).

Why you no read Tau lore?
>>
>>43889122
Because "Cover save" covers both having a fucking wall in front of you or dodging bullets faster than Neo (this becomes an Invulnerable save sometimes) so you can't apply your idea until the two types of cover get differentiated.
They should make Large Blasts ignore saves conferred by jinking though.
>>
>>43889161
Another troops choice, dire avengers and jetbikes are both solid (stick to 1 heavy weapon in 3 on the jetbikes to stop people thinking you're a twat). Then some form of antitank is a good next step. Exactly what kind of depends what sort of army you want to build towards (aspect heavy, vehicle heavy, do you think the war walker model looks stupid, etc.). I'd get a fire prism myself.
>>
>>43889186

Yes well when you're done fapping to one scene from a shitty novel, everyone else knows that death metal screaming is only an actual weapon for noise marines.
>>
>>43889189
When do we actually see this happening in the fluff, though? We're told that newer Tau weapons are sometimes dangerous and volatile, but we never actually see it. We never see a Riptide's Nova Reactor failing at the worst moment, while the solid-but-reliable Imperial technology holds firm.

Are there any tau weapons with a gets hot equivalent?
>>
>>43889286
overcharged ion weapons have gets hot
>>
>>43889286
Their Ion Weapons can be charged up for a more powerful shot, at the risk of the Gets Hot! rule.
