>The year is 2207
>A popular card game is widely played on Earth, the Moon, and on Mars
>Inter-world tournaments are commonplace
>A massive solar storm cuts Earth off from its colonies for a hundred years
>Travel and communication are finally re-established

Assuming this card game is still popular on all three worlds, could they still play against each other?
>>
Eventually. Initially, you'd have variance in ruleset as well as various card lists which might not be considered balanced by one anothers rules, but assuming the core principles of the game remained you could recreate a 'standard' ruleset, while also maintaining planetary variant rules.

>you could recreate a 'standard' ruleset

No need to create new rules.
Just use the Earth rule-set. It has retained its purity.
>>
>>43624211

That's a very terra-centric worldview. The Colonials might have some disagreements there.
>>
>>43624109
How could we make this more convoluted?
>>
>>43624290

>The solar storm opens a rift in time through which Malcom Jurgenstrom emerges. Malcom is the man who created the card game in the year 2019.

On Mars, each card is actually a 5 ton rock due to paper and cardstock shortages.
>>
>>43624109
That's a very strange question. You playing some Yugioh 5D game that got out of hand or something?
>>
>>43624248
Fortunately the mitary superiority of Terra will allow us to forcefully reunify the solar system. After that playing Earth rules will be mandated by law.
>>

War? We abandoned that foolish pursuit centuries ago. There is only one way to settle this... Card games!
>>
Makes me wonder how a collision of alien 'metas' might look like.
>>
>>43624918
That's how we conduct wars now, mass card game competitions. We have 5 million card game players and support personnel in landing craft and ready to go. Mars better be fucking ready.
>>
Will there be motorcycles?

The Moon getting cut off? It's right there. Like, you can see it. Fuck, send up a guy with a reflective mirror and flash signals back to Earth if you need communication, hobbyist telescopes don't need electronics to see that.

And you'd think shortages of supplies would make card games a very low priority compared to everything else. Fuck, nobody is even going to remember some card game from hundreds of years ago.
>>
>>43628689
topkek, you see the rest of the people on this board?

Game'll be going strong
>>

If the moon has become sustainable, then the biggest concern following would be entertainment.

A card game could definitely survive hundreds of years if they've got nothing up there but rocks and the cards they've brought.
>>
Aiight I'll bite. Let's just pretend none of this hubaloo happens on Moon. Just Terra and Mars. If the Moon was cut off, their society would either have to shoot for Terra or Mars in relocating or perish. It's a fucking rock. Let's also assume Mars no longer relies on imports for their cardstock (or whatever material is required for the games' components to be produced) or anything to vitally sustain themselves while we're at it Let us further assume that this card game is a big enough deal to common folk (ie different sports for their respective regions) that it wouldn't fade into obscurity in 20 years.

Terra would have 100 years worth of rulings that would change. Sets released would no longer be the same as Mars.
Mara would have 100 years worth of rulings that would change. Sets released wouldn't be the same as Terra.

This thread is cool to think about, but having expended the resources to lazily think about and type about it, I can ascertain that this thread is in fact dumb.
