Wew, the designers have gone full retard now. Worst model in Dystopian Wars yet.

Nothing will ever surpass the literal Chinese dragon and Japanese squid.

Yep, Russian.

>robots for prussians, japanese and antartica
Sure, they are the vanguard of robotics and science in general.
>clumsily walking fortress for britannians
Fittingly vintage tech used to an effect that gives them something that is competitive with more advanced factions
>cloven druzhina that looks like he is ready to topple backwards
Why? Russians are about stolen cutting edge tech mass produced cheaply and second rate.
This seems contrary to their doctrines.

looks pretty cool to me

is there more

Hoofed I meant.

This is the only humanoid massive robot design I actually like.
Massive centipede and Britannian castle are cool, though I'll probably never buy one- I'll spend the money on a Planetfall Leviathan instead.

He has an oversized drum feeded automatic obrez pistol of bolt action. He does not need a heart.

Britannian one is probably the best of them, but 45 britbux is way too much, especially since DW has been helped out thus far by having fairly good prices.
>>
Indeed. The recent batch of super-robots managed to be even dumber than before. The metzger had charm. The flying eiffel tower was semi-sensible within the setting. The fucking robot dragon, samurai and hammer-mech are just...no. We went from Victorian science to fucking cogfop town. And of course they also announced the absolutely vital release of fucking HALO character busts when other games have been on life support (the removal of xelocians from pre-order being the biggest joke- how do you manage to greenlight something to be put on pre-order and then remove it? It's not like they're Coca-Cola, with long chain of communications!)
>>
>>43622768

I'd fuck it.

Looks nice
>>
>>43624277
I wish any other company was in charge of DW. Spartan are just so fucking ADHD about shit.
>>
>>43625353
Honestly..it seems Warlord is picking up all sorts of odds and ends in terms of games, I'd love if they bought out FA and DW, and spartan can just masturbate to Halo forever.
>>
>>43626123
Well, my local group seems to love Bolt Action. Spartan is going to bloody ruin DW, it's a wonder FA is doing as well as it is. (is it? I don't keep up with it, beyond knowing it doesn't have these stupid robots.)
>>
>>43626123
I don't understand why the hate, halo is a fucking corpse and spartan games will pay to approach to a dying franchise
>>
>>43626466
the problem is that Halo was probably NOT cheap

so they likely had to raise prices all across the board to cover costs
>>
>>43626466
Because Spartan is small. Like, 20 people small. And they already had 4 fucking systems (3 of which were supported regularily) on their plate. With Halo, it's up to 5. And halo wasn't cheap- license, plastic kits rather than resin they can work in-house, constant approval from the IP owner...so yeah, it takes time and effort that could be used to suppor their original IP's...but then again, Spartan doesn't seem to be too fond of developing the games' backgrounds beyond bare necessity.

And if you think it's all nonsense- Spartan, in last few months, raised the price of all Firestorm (and presumably DW) boxes by some 5 pounds on large sets and 2-3 on smaller. without ever saying so, just bam, price is up. So yeah, as far as I'm concerned, Halo is a parasite of a product.

It doesn't matter in the long run of course- Firestorm is doomed anyway, with hawk's Dropfleet kickstarter delivering next summer with plastic modular ships, Andy Chambers' name on the rulebook, an established, suprisingly well fleshed-out background, and a reputation for supporting and delivering high-quality product. FA, as fun as it is, will not stand a chance because Spartan just doesn't understand people care about such things.
>>
>>43627148
not only that but GW might bring back sepcialist games

maybe not fully support them or add in new stuff, but if they may at least sell old products again. so BFG may come back
>>
>>43627536
Irrelevant at this point- whatever good will GW had among old players is gone, and new kids dont have any nostalgia for specialist games.
>>
>>43627622
>whatever good will GW had among old players is gone

meanwhile people have bought like 2-5 copies of the new HH boardgame
>>
>>43627737
That's not the same target audience really..Of course i could be wrong, and people will forget the absolute slap in the face that the dreadfleet was, but even then..any rerelease of BFG would be done by the same hacks who did AoS...
>>
>>43624277
>cogfop town

This was always coming, anon. What you get for liking a terrible steampunk game like DW desu

i can't seem to find the dragon, but there are at least 3 different models for robot squids.

I blame Spartan.

>>43633821
>>43633857
The naval squid and Metzger set a sort of benchmark for "this is how silly the game gets". Then suddenly the dragon and these megabots decide "fuck that, who cares about consistency, we want to be like GW!".
>>

>the removal of xelocians

Damaged molds? Perhaps they donĀ“t have more than one set.
>>
>>43622768
Who didn't see it coming? I mean, Dreadnought robots made sense for Prussia (Teutonic Order), EotBS (Alchemical College) and Covenanters (who love robots anyway). And they managed to fuck up those already.

But Russia? The "gone full retard" step was already achieved when they considered doing a megabot for them.
>>
So does anyone actually play Dystopian Wars?

>>43638568
It's not like there wasn't a precedent for the ruskies having something fuckhuge, but the giant bipedal robot doesn't fit them in the slightest.
>>
>>43636280
I find flying buildings a lot more silly than squid robots.

Moulds for resin are very easy to make. Definetely not two-months delay. Fuckery is afoot.

>It doesn't matter in the long run of course- Firestorm is doomed anyway, with hawk's Dropfleet kickstarter delivering next summer

Which is a shame, really. I like DZC and the aesthetics a lot, but I couldn't care less about the ships. With Firestorm it's just the other way round, love FA but hate the Planetfall models.
>>
>>43627148
>Spartan doesn't seem to be too fond of developing the games' backgrounds beyond bare necessity.

I dunno, Hurricane Season & Storm of Steel had large, detailed fluff sections. Fairly certain Pacific Cyclone was the same.
Plus they just did that big fluff piece on the Relthoza (though I have no idea how much of that was original as I'm new to Firestorm), just because.

Plus all the different alliance factions in DW & FA do much to fill out the universe whilst also adding gameplay variety.

>>43639083
I did a lot at uni, but there's no player base where I am currently.

But given the fact that the UK Student Nationals next year won't have Infinity (which they did last year), but will have DW is the sign of a pretty healthy player base to me.
>>
>>43639789
The fluff was fairly dry in the campaign books, sadly. Still, it was better than the dearth of it there is now.

I was privy to some of the reasoning as to why DW ran at the 2014 nationals in Leicester- it ran there and Malifaux didn't, and the only reason is because getting terrain for DW tables was a fuckload cheaper than kitting out Malifaux tables. As for why DMU removed it, that was probably because their wargames organiser was sucking Mantic's dick the entire time.

I liked that style of fluff. It read kind of like a well written popular history book, just about fake history.

Ah yeah, I had some friends who were going to Malifaux 2014 and were pissed when it got dropped.
There were Mantic games at 2015?

Also, can this now be Spartan general? Painting up my Ryushi and wanted to share.
>>
>>43640390
Fair enough then.

Yeah, it was between Malifaux and DW- neither game had enough to run on its own, but enough people had put the other as a second choice that cancelling one would let the other run. So the decision came down to which was more feasible- and since a few plastic islands did the job for DW, it ran.
I know that a load of Mantic games were up for being included, while their GW counterparts weren't, or were included begrudgingly. The guy was trying to get Dreadball to run, but wasn't running Bloodbowl etc.. I don't know what happened with categories in the end, since I didn't go, apart from that the guy had no fucking clue how to do terrain for 40K/Fantasy.

Reminds me of Homeworld. And it's not like a DW thread is going to get near the bump limit without including all of Spartan's games.
>>
>>43640390
Still debating what scheme to use for my new Aquans.

Considering either the classic blue, or either something really bright and colourful like a reef, or maybe an orca theme in black and white - no idea yet how to do weapons and engines in that last one though, red probably.
>>
>>43639789
I have hurricane season. It's not background, it's batreps in fiction form. He went there, did this, the end. The world building is almost nonexistant. As for the relthoza piece, it was just the relthoza section of the zenian fleetbook, copied verbatim. Spartan has jack-shit background compared to about any other company. I mean fuck, Tomorrow's War, a generic wargame designed to fit all scifi tropes has more developed story.
