Milled metal dice.

You can get d6s, but others are impossible. Sintered is available, but milled is casino precision.

Animu-themed dice
Kids love that stuff

Dragon dice tried to do the CCG thing with dice instead of cards. It didn't work as you've pointed out, but surely there are other ways of inducing a commercial frenzy with dice?

I wonder how feasible it would be to make transparent dice with those laser-etched hologram things inside.

Make various versions with different gaming-related images inside, try to work up to where you can get official licensing deals to use shit from popular media (Marvel and DC comics, Star Wars, some of the bigger anime series, etc.). Put out new designs on a fairly regular basis to keep demand fresh.
>>
Dice that roll themselves via tiny robotic thumpers inside. Voice activated and all.

I think there might be a market for novelty dice.

>Random Dice with Random Faces
>Crack a pack: one die has body parts, one die has shades of blue, the last die has critical failures involving the eyes

Would you buy something like this?
>>
>>43578421
Depends on the quality (etched vs painted, balance etc), rarity scheme and price point; but probably.
>>
>>43577667
Tell them get bent grandpa, ride off on my scateboard and continue to use virtual dice instead.

Nerds.
>>
>>43577667
We pitch it to some hot new RPG that's doing well already. We make them casino-precise and package them with a small desktop shrine to the setting's deity of fortune. The shrine has a statuette, slots to individually nest three complete sets of dice, incense holders, and one of those raised bowels on legs you use to heat scented oils. We sell one variety of some real high-quality ritual oil and incense to go with it (chosen by some holistic snake oil saleswoman), get some new-age Wiccan or some shit to write up some bullshit blessing to put on a prayer scroll.
>>
>>43577667

"Exploding dice" made out of real TNT.

Slogan for sales: "More bang for your buck than any other dice!"
>>
>>43577667
I point out that collectible dice games have never gained a foothold and the market for such a product is so limited and already crowded that it would not be worth the resources necessary to develop a product. I produce substantial documentation of this from the past 20 years.
>>
I make a D1,000,000 with a list of the effects of each number sealed on a tiny scroll wrapped so tight it's smaller than a baby's pinkie finger inside the dice.

So the deity of fortune is also the god of torture and human sacrifice?
... makes sense.

To be fair, fortune telling was traditionally done by reading something's innards.

I'd involve feminism or non-standard gender identities somehow. As little as I care about both of those things, word of mouth would take care of advertising for me.

>>
>>43580585
NASA calls back and informs you that they have about enough regolith left to make maybe twenty normal dice, and that's all reserved for display.
>>
>>43580722
No, you can buy them. And you don't have to pay market value either. You just have to reimburse them for the Apollo missions, adjusted for inflation. Divided by twenty dice it comes out $all-the-money per piece.

Swap the TNT for something a little less destructive and it might not be a terrible idea.

Each die has an uneven weight distribution so that one side comes up more often. Each die also has a complex mechanical system inside that changes the weighted side every time you roll it.

So a 'collect em all' sort of thing where you buy the pack without knowing what's inside?

I guess I'd do several sets, each set themed after some kind of monster. Skeleton set would be all bone-looking, dragon set would be red and look sort of scaley, etc. The d20 could have the monster's head as the 20.

Maybe someone could make a game with it? Idk, I'm not creative.
>>
>>43581668
I used to have some of those. It was less fun than advertised.

>33 rarity levels

Kinda like Diablo 2 runes but it real life.

>>43579418
People don't collect things for no reason. If there is no game then a tie in is the only thing that might work. Get Disney on the phone and see if we can license some Star Wars dice.
>>
>>43578421
sell a few, include a ruleset on a playing card that has gotten wet so that the writing is no longer legible, include documentation that mentions the ruleset and occasional rules but without details.
refuse all communication with customers and wait for someone to come up with a game based around the dice.
>>
>>43577667
Design a tactical wargame that uses existing miniatures factions but in a non-traditional way, like Bloodbowl. Have each faction use different-marked (or even differently sided) dice for its task resolution mechanics.

Example: Most factions roll multiple d12s for task resolution, each side having a number and an icon. Humans might have shittier icons but slightly better numbers on those dice. Orcs might have slightly more icons that cause injuries to their team AND the other team. Elves could have icons that count as a higher value if you're shooting or dodging, but fewer icons that inflict damage. Etcetera.

Each set of dice includes six to ten dice for a faction, as well as a small rulebook including what the icons on the dice do and what kinds of units the faction fields. Later expansions could introduce additional dice for a faction with slightly different icons on them, and when you play a game you declare in advance which kinds of dice you're using (if you roll six dice for task resolution you could pick two dice from the original set and four from Expansion 1, for example).

League of Legend themed dice, but sold like a booster pack. No idea what you're going to get inside in terms of hero theme.

And just to make SURE they sell, there's a code for Riot points inside.

That should take care of it.

Astonishingly, terribly cheap dice. No art, colored whatever plastic was available, unpolished. Very roughly smoothened and not tested for balance.

The d20 only costs nine cents, and the rest are even cheaper.
