Emperor Class Titan wouldn't be downed by 12 Tiger Sharks AX1's. There is a reason they invented the Stormsurge and KX139. This is because AX1's weren't enough to deal with Scout Titans and Titan Knights, let alone Emperor Class Titans.

I'm just going to cover the bases and say you're Carnac Tau-wanking again. Even if you're not, you're doing Tau wanking like he does.

Wrong, you git.

The Stormsurge and KX139 were created to expand the Tau anti-titan arsenal. Tiger Sharks AX1 were the first of many anti-titan Tau weaponry. They are meant to deliver a Mantas punch at long range safe from enemy fire. During its first test on Taros, a single Tigershark downed a Warhound Titan.

Can the Emperor Class Titan withstand the 12 punches from Manta Class Railguns at the same time?
>>

If I remember my Titan correctly, I think an emperor class had sufficient layers of void shield for about that, not to mention is absurd mass.

Given the size of the Imperium compared to the tiny amount of Tau controlled space, what he's saying is not so absurd. I wouldn't say hundreds per flier, but a 1-1 ratio wouldn't be surprising.

The Imperium just has problems bringing its guns to the fight. It's got a shit-ton of guns.

So, What your saying is. The imperium can't win because it doesn't know where its guns are.

Warp storms, lost planets and generally not being a functional empire like the tau empire.
>>

Helmsman; course for the planet, ramming speed. Engineering; remove safeguards and overload all systems. Weapons bay; prime all torpedoes and missiles. Do not launch.

>>
>>43540029
>So, What your saying is. The imperium can't win because it doesn't know where its guns are.

>Warp storms, lost planets and generally not being a functional empire like the tau empire.

Kind of, but not really. It's not hard for the Tau to function, because it's young and small. The opposite of the Imperium. The Tau can be be efficient in comparison.

Remember that the Imperium has eradicated many other xeno races and empires before it ran into to Tau, when the Imperium eventually got around to bringing its guns to bear. Essentially the Tau survive because the Imperium either can't take the effort to squash them because it's so strained by its innumerable other pains, or it doesn't care enough because it doesn't see the Tau as a serious threat. Probably both.
>>
>>43540283
Nids are coming to eat the Tau.

The Imperium shouldn't be worried about the blue scum.
>>
>>43538917
The Manta has a special rule stating it's hit by blast weapons, and normal ground forces just shoot at normal BS due to its immense size.
>>
>>43540325
>The Imperium shouldn't be worried about the blue scum.

>>
>>43540354
Latest rules I can find says you only fire using normal BS. Nothing about blasts nor templates getting to hit it.
>>
>>43540325
There is no major nid presence near Tau space.

There is only a huge Necron presence and it's currently directing its wrath on Ultramar.
>>
>>43540325

arent tau perfect for killing nids?

hit and run tactics with good fire power
>>
>>43540456
Probably, if the nids are just coming from one direction. Which the nids aren't generally restricted to, since they have all the numbers and can come from any direction, including from above or below.
>>
>>43540456
Hive Fleet Gorgon gave the Tau a very hard time by evolving around their tactics and arsenals. Altered carapace and mucus membranes over their exoskeletons would highly bloom, defract and otherwise dissipate Tau laser, plasma and other assorted energy weapons.

Sure the 'nids eventually got stomped by a combined IG/Tau combined assault but a fistful of hiveships escaped with Tau in hot pursuit; not that it matters. The Tau think that if these ships get back to another fleet then the Tyranids will absorb the experiences and adaptations/evolutionary quirks that Gorgon did.

Too bad that they're fucking wrong.
>>
>>43538304
>it's looted
emprah help us
>>
>>43540325
that's what I'm saying.
Imperium has much bigger problems than a tiny xeno empire near its border.

Huge Ork Waaghs, Resurgent Necron Empire, Unending Invasion of Tyranid Swarms, and Abbadon's next Black Crusade.
>>
>>43538304
>>43540934

>>
>>43537964
Circle the remaining titans. Titians tend to fight in legions of 30-60. The only way they managed to make a kill on an emperor is if they managed to catch it of guard and isolated.

Also, the Titans aren't under the command of the Guard or the Astartes. They answer to the AdMech alone. As such, I really don't do anything but offer advice.

Besides, is't a dozen mantas something like a third of all tau super heavy assets or something?

Not really. They still don't have the numbers to match the Imperium on the grand scale, but Mantas not only serve as troop/tank landers, but also as Crisis-suit bombers and 'fighters' in ship combat. Each warship would probably carry a few, as well as any major military installations.

Tigersharks, which are the subject of the thread, are even more numerous.

Also, because mechas sell and GW likes your monies.

>>
>>43541555
>when the Air Caste isn't around
but you need the air caste to deliver it
>>
>>43541555>>43541530
Then use hammerheads, riptides, and sky rays.

A normal manta can carry 4 hammerheads and 8 Crisis suits. That will do just as much damage as a stormsurge, if not more, even without the thing shooting.
>>
>>43541597
Anon, baby, you're not understanding market appeal. The fluff is perfectly logical and coherent. Just because they change some minute little details like the combat doctrine of the tau, shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the IP.
>>
Maybe floating spaceships consume more fuel than ballistic suits. I wonder if they have specialized Mechs to reload ammunition of the Stormsurge and the Manta.
>>
They are probably just mag-lifted to the surface of the planet. It's a Gargantua creature, so it's deceivingly quite fast for its size.
>>
>>43541660
The Stormsurge doesn't even look cool though. It's got no arms, it's got an open top to see the pilots, and its default pose is taking a dump.

Even the art in the codex makes it look like garbage.
>>
>>43541532
Yeah, and Broadsides. Whether it is on a Tigershark or a Hammerhead, a railgun is a railgun, and it packs a punch.
>>
Air forces can't hold ground.
>>
>>43541661
They're using nuclear power, so fuel isn't a major concern.

And it's pointless if you're saving energy with the suit, since Tau care about lives and a fast victory more than saving fuel. And the suit needs to be air-lifted in anyway, so it's not even like you're freeing up a transport.
>>
Artillery is more responsive to the immediate needs of the land forces than air support, they don't have to deal with anti-aircraft fire (only worry about counter-fire) and you can hide them in strategic places. Also they are probably cheaper than Mantas.
>>
>>43541871
You know what all that is true for even more than a Stormsurge? Hammerheads.

They're skimmers, so they can relocate even faster and 4 of them can fit in a manta, they're easier to hide because they're not the size of a building, and they're cheaper because rather than being a giant robot, they're just the standard Tau tank chassis.
>>
>>43541871
>they don't have to deal with anti-aircraft fire
given a stormsurge has to be airlifted into fights, it's going to be worrying quite a bit about anti-aircraft fire
>>
Tiger Shark AX-1-0 are more cost-effective than Mantas. It's like a C-130 gunship. The US this kind of transport retrofited into a gunship because they can (it would be more efficient to just deploy helicopters or smaller planes). Note that C-130 Gunships are far more vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire and would never be deployed in the presence of a SAM.

You still need propellant to move in the void. Nuclear reactors just allows you to not carry fuel.

> Well the manta isn't designed for fighting enemies that have extremely limited to literally nonexistent anti-air ability. After all, it's only equipped with a metric shit-ton of missiles that can down Void Shields in seconds, and a Heavy Railgun that can penetrate 100 meters of steel/ceramite from over 100 kilometers away. In addition, it's ability to carry an entire army of mechs with more railguns that aren't quite as powerful isn't really doing it any favors in the Anti-titan department.
