Well now hold on, I remember that section as well but does it ever say that it was Nehekarans or just the remains of older, pre-Teutogen tribes?
>>
>>43536119
it doesn't specify, but the maps in Sigmar books mark it as "Tomb of Rahotep" - which is clearly a Nehekharan name.

Are Grove Riders with shields instead of bows worth it? I think I'll convert at least 5 anyway, but would be nice if they were cool.

And what about Bladedancers and musicians? Is it worth taking a musician at last?

The swords were curved at the end, but straight at the base, though the handles had long since rotted away, leaving the corroded remains of the tang visible with scraps of leather still clinging to the metal.

He later reads

That would either be in Pre-Empire Wissenland, or Solland, I'm not sure how much territory Solland covered before it was destroyed, or more likely Averland as the Nehekharans would have Black Fire Pass to move through. so, we have High Elves, Dark Elves and Wood Elves, which is nice and proper.
we have High Humans (i.e. Empire), Dark Humans (i.e. WoC) and Wood Humans (i.e. Brets)

the question is... where're my Wood Dwarfs?
>>

>>
>>43536472
So are halfling chaos dwarf fault? Like every annoying race?
>>
>>43536472
Halflings and ogres were last ditch attempts at a magic resistant race by the Old Ones, but were failures.
>>
>>43536491
Ogres were a success, but the gates blew up before they could be taught their mission by the Old Ones.
>>
>>43536491
Not exactly, before 8th ed. Ogres have better chaos resist than any other races (except lizards).
>>
>>43536508
Considering ogres can use magic, I wouldn't call them a success. Halflings can't use magic at all, but were considered a failure as well. The qualities both races had just weren't right for what the Old Ones must have wanted, as both are lazy, gluttonous assholes.
>>
ogres can still get corruptified.
in fact, I don't understand why Chaos hasn't bribed all the ogres with yummies and wiped out Empire long ago.
>>
>>Age of Reckoning

I'm actually tempted to get in on this, but I can't find a place to get the game. Any help?
>>
>>43536544
Halflings were Proto-Ogres, the absolute lack of magic use was considered too big of a trade off for the resistance and Ogres currently need to be willing participants for most corruption.

Imagine if they had been trained or mentally programmed to never willingly participate in Chaos crap.
>>
>>43536561
A few ogres are intelligent enough to know that siding with Chaos isn't always the best idea and that they can play both sides against the middle. Being mercenary is more profitable.
>>
>>43536470
Near feral Lizardmen live on the Dragon Isles, as some have only the youngest Slann to guide them while others still have no Slann at all. The Dark Lands is home to the Chaos Dwarfs and their greenskin slaves. Various Chaos tribes migrate through there as well, though it's mostly to trade with the Chaos Dwarfs.

>>43536579
I suppose we'll never know. Humans are also speculated to being unfinished as they were still savages when the Old Ones disappeared.
>>
>>43536636
I hate how Chaos Dwarfs will never get much attention or even codex from GW,while being so important faction

>>

>>
>>43536661

But I agree, I'd like to see them more
>>43536696
If total warhammer turns out to be successful I don't see anything stopping them from adding the chaos dwarfs units of forge world, even if just as new units for warriors of chaos.
>>
>>43536778
>world would work almost exactly the same without them.
But Warriors of Chaos would have no armour,no artifacts,no chariots and no cannons. All orcs would be savage orcs, and ogres would rule a far more bigger empire.
I would say they are pretty important
>>
>>43536778
>created black orcs = responsible for Grimgor and more
>not important
>>
>>43536796
Oh yeah i forgot that they're also the ones to blame for orcs getting their grips on iron weaponry instead of sticking with sticks, stones and bones
>>
>>43536796
That's not all true, to be fair. The gods gift their warriors with artefacts, weapons and armour. What they really offer are the Hellcanons. Not to say that they don't make artefacts, weapons and armour, but Chaos forces wouldn't be screwed without the Chaos Dwarfs.
>>
>>43536799
If they were important, then why haven't they got a army book or appeared in the End Times books?
>>
>>43536796
>Warriors of Chaos would have no armour,no artifacts,no chariots and no cannons.

What? The Chaos Gods supply the Chaos Warriors from their own hell foundries.

The only thing Chaos dwarfs did for the WoC was give them cannons. Khorne does that too on his own.
>>
>>43536845
They have a book. It's really old, but they had one. And don't use the End Times as a measure of quality. Even armies that have updated book3s didn't get a lot of spotlight, like Beastmen.

>>43536855
It's both. Chaos Dwarfs know how to smith Chaos Armour as well.
>>
>>43536845
Because GW doesnt care
They were supported to maybe around 5th edition but they got axed because the minis didnt sell well enough

That doesnt nullify their importance in the lore itself, when the minis dont sell like normal chaos and spess mehreens do
>>
>>43536855
>What? The Chaos Gods supply the Chaos Warriors from their own hell foundries.

They are given armor from the Chaos Gods themselves.
>>

But beastmen featured in a lot of the battles and had their characters do stuff. Sure most of them died but they were part of the Chaos horde.
>>
>>43536886
Compared to everyone else, they did little but slay nameless foes and have all their characters die off in little blurbs. If you weren't Empire, Elves, Dwarfs or Chaos, then you may as well have killed yourself.

to be honest, it's kinda true and not true at the same time.

it's like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D for MCU. yes, if you care about Agents, you know they have direct impact on MCU, but you can watch MCU with no problems without even being aware Agents exist.

same here. if you care about Chaos Dwarfs, you can plainly see their impact on WHFB, but if you have no idea they exist, your vision of WHFB doesn't suffer either.

It would be retarded, like Chaos Sorcerer and Empire longsword fighting in the same team, but it would be fun

Gonna post a couple images of the Dwarf Ranger from Vermintide in hopes of getting ideas for models to use/convert for a Mordheim warband based on the Vermintide crew.

The Avatars of War dwarf rangers are too cloak-y, by the way.

As a person who plays Vermintide, I have to tell you guys the game is great, and the best part of it is the voiceacting and dialogues. If you ever catch it on a discount don't hesitate, it really reflects the WH world well, and I mean the Old World, even though the End Times are just beginning in the game.
>>
>>43540390
I guess it's personal.

My headcanon involves only some new characters, Nagash returning (with or without the sacrifices, I don't care) and that's it.

8th Edition starts a lot of plots indeed, but I don't like how they were resolved in End Times. I prefer open-ended storylines anyway, so in my headcanon they remain open-ended.

>>43540610
I'd swap Eshin and Pestilens
>>
>>43540390
consider the most accepted timeline stopping at archaon's incoronation, without considering the end times books, sigmar's blood and the whole story about the captured elven princess
>>
>>43540835
forgot to add; it's not that the whole end times thing is considered not canon in its entirety and ignored, just treat, for the sake of conversations and setting, that it still has to happen and may happen differently from the exact way it unfolded

for example, the end of the elven civil war, the resurrection of nagash and the fall of the moon seem to be widely accepted events to consider in any different rewriting of it regardless of the changed details around them
>>
So did they really just repeat Storm of Chaos with the same champion but declare chaos won this time?

Seriously, nobody in -any- faction other than Chaos and Skaven was decently represented. Lizards were pants on head retarded and didn't use half the tools at their disposal, Dwarfs put up literally no fight against Skaven and Orcs, despite having fended off colossal armies of the beasts numerous times in the fluff, elves were all kinds of a clusterfuck that I don't even have a llong enough character limit to properly describe, ogres were hinted as to be fucking shit up after the mountains of mourn were blown up but promptly disappeared off the face of the earth until they got somehow subjagated by orcs, chaos dwarfs did literally nothing, Brets -almost- did something, and then were killed off camera...

Jesus the list just goes on.

Nagash and Settra were kinda cool, I guess.

I'm curious what you'd do with Endhammer, if you could change some story points around. The Dwarfs still need a ton of work, as do the Lizards and Skaven (as their role in End Times was much changed). Elves have tried to be salvaged with some parts of Khaine intact but most of it thrown out the window.

Brets have been brought back from the brink.

Warhammer Roleplay question:

Should I give all of my players Perception for free at character creation?
>>
>>43549631
No. Some careers start with Perception, so that would be giving some of them a +10% right off the bat. The only thing I would consider giving them is Read/Write, but only if it's your first time GM'ing WFRP. If no one in the party can read or write, it can get really annoying really fast. If you and your players are even a little seasoned, I wouldn't give them any skills or talents unless they can give a convincing trade off, which my group calls 'Traits'.
>>
>>43549631
Do what you feel is best. WHFB is designed to be rough, and some people like it that way, and some people don't. If you think that it is fair for your group, go ahead with it.

Is it just me, or is the magic system in the roleplaying system blatantly bullshit, especially in consideration that in the wargame magic is far more stable [1/36 chance with two die miscasting, while with 2d10 it is 1/10th]? Even then if you fail to cast spell, you don't suffer a wound (the equivalent to an insanity point) if you roll all ones. Hell, even if you roll all ones, there is still the chance you actually succeed in casting it, depending on your wizard level and the casting value.
>>
>>43549096
Did you have a heart attack?
>>43550455
Wounds aren't equivalent to Insanity Points. You can also be subject to Tzeentch's Curse when you roll multiples of any number, not just one. The miscast results can be really deadly to you and even to the entire party.
>>
>>43545612
I remember reading those when WAR was coming out

RIP that game
>>
>>43550513
Great job to completely ignore what I said.

I meant on the tabletop it is the "equivalent", since you will definitely take wound in the RPG before you will have an IP.

>You can also be subject to Tzeentch's Curse when you roll multiples of any number, not just one

I said 1/10th, not 1/100th, with the chance of you getting a miscast increasing as you add more die. Like I said before, this isn't even remotely equivalent to the danger of miscasting in the tabletop, which shows that when people says "It's representative of the lore!" they have not a fucking clue what they are talking about.
>>
>>43549631
Yes. It is literally a skill that pretty much any other RPG would take for granted that fucking character have, with any skill related to "perception" be based off of an actual stat, or a bonus to said roll.
>>
>>43550963
See, this is what I was thinking. However, >>43549759 has a solid point (though you could just as easily houserule that you don't get the +10% from the free Perception) since some careers are designed to have it. But Perception also is a default stat in all of the subsequent FFG games...

If I give my players Perception, does that invalidate Search and Evaluate? I'm especially not clear on the difference between the first and second skill.

>>
>>43551388
As someone who is in a DA campaign, this is an easy question. Search is specifically looking for something. As in you know, there is a switch for the secret door around the room, and you need to look for it. However, perception is for SEEING the groove switch on the wall to your right. Evaluating is for determine how much said switch costs to build.

Another example is that you are searching the woods for a deer to hunt. Once you find a deer, you use perception to see how many points the deer has on its rack. When you hunt the deer, you use evaluation to determine how much its coat costs.

The thing is, I don't see anywhere where it says there is a 10% bonus.

>>43551684
In fact THEY ARE IN THIS VERY THREAD.
>>
>>43551741
The 10% comes from careers that already have Perception getting it again. Every time you take a skill again you get a 10% boost.

Also, DA?

Still, what was his answer to your question about numbers of AoS players?

For what purpose?

He said there was a lot of people playing. Based on his answers, suspicions have formed in my mind that he might be exagerating. Slightly.

It's 40k, but the general idea is the same.
I'm pretty sure there's more similar stuff in the pastebins somewhere.

...WHY?
>>
>>43556125
I don't recall what the posted reason was, and the website today only says that they were hacked "yesterday" and will be back up shortly. Presumably the site just didn't have good security and made an easy target?

Ah, that's the one I get my stuff from. The guys there are actually pretty cool, I never tried to ask them about AoS though. I'll touch the subject next time I'm around.

I'd probably invest as soon as possible in a stegadon. These guys are a no-brainer and the kit is great. The I'd tell you to get more skinks and then a slaan with a few more TG to bunker him.

Yea
>>
Did lizardmen still have that 'magic item' that was basically a laser gun in 8th?
>>
>>43557000
Literally two posts above you
>>
>>43557158
nah he's talking about one of the other ones

I think it was called a sun staff or some shit? Kind of like kroq'gar's laser gauntlet but a staff instead.

Oh yeah, that's still around
