So somefaggot I know wants to play D&D. I've never played before. For someday fucking reason he wants me to play. Everyone thinks D&D is shit.
Game suggestion?
>>43473899
Wait, he wants you to DM?
Flip him off. Asking you to run a game in a system you know nothing about is entirely unreasonable.
>>43473899
>everyone thinks it's shit.
That's a huge generalization there, anon.
>>43473899
First, do you want to actually DM? Have you been a player before? Has HE played before?
Experience is useful but not 100% necessary in GMing.
>>43474046
He was probably just talking about the people he plays with.
If anything, everyone knows D&D is fine, and only the lowest nerds spend their time complaining about it.

>5thed D&D
>12031 games
>14292 players
Literally 1 GM and 0.14 players per game?
>>43474120
Ah well then >>43474029 pretty much said it best, If you aren't comfortable running something, don't do it or suggest something else.
>>43474120
>everyone knows D&D is fine

>everyone knows D&D is fine
This.
I don't think you picked a representative sample for gaming on a global scale, but you're right.
Almost every time I hear complaints about D&D, they're the result of the players, not the system. The two most common issues that arise are with minmaxers whom the DM doesn't ever rein in or with players who go nuts because they don't think outside the box (use your skills and make ability checks once in a while).

At that point then, one of D&D's biggest problems is that it is too popular.

Bloating the numbers are probably games that exist to just test maps out.
