Thread topic: Broad daylight shadowruns and dedicated daylight shadowrunners: what would you take in account before a sunny day run, and what would the implications of running during the day openly bring? Would police forces have an easier time tracking sunlight runners down or would it be easier for the runners to blend with a crowd of civilians?

Secondary thread topic: Has anyone had luck running Shadowrun in non-Shadowrun systems? Asked in the last thread, didn't get any responses. I've heard about FATE, but I'm really not a fan.

Also, day-one errata for Rigger 5 confirmed, someone found where Wakshaani fucked up within 20 minutes of the book going live
>>
>RENRAKU DOVE (PILOT AIRCRAFT) A Renraku product, the Dove is licensed exclusively to GOD. It flits quietly around major sprawls, searching for illegal wireless signals. While the Dove is, in general, an unimpressive design, the radio-snooping technology is top-notch, while the software can alert GOD operatives to activity, drawing attention from support operators who then call in larger, more combative drones to deal with the lawbreaker. Standard Upgrades: Radio signal scanner (6)

>MITSUHAMA MALAKIM (PILOT AIRCRAFT) The standard response drones for GOD, the Malakim are quad-copter drones that pack non-lethal weaponry and high-level jammers, released in support of agents on foot. The Malakim’s job is to block off communication, keep updated via reports from Doves that are scattered around watching potential escape routes, and serve as a last line of offense should a takedown be needed. While well-armed and armored, the Malakim’s larger size prevents it from entering some areas, so if you’re being pursued, move from building to building and never get caught out in the open; if you do, it’ll drop you. Standard Upgrades: Standard weapon mount, area jammer (6), directional jammer (6), Targeting autosoft (4)

>NEONET AVENGING ANGEL (PILOT AIRCRAFT) The last of the GOD-specific designs, the Avenging Angel is the Thor Strike of drones. No muss, no fuss, the Avenging Angel is a multi-MACH milspec drone that carries a single fuel-air bomb, capable of leveling an entire city block, for when you absolutely, positively, have to make sure that decker nest is rooted out. Officially, none have ever been used. Officially. Standard Upgrades: Heavy weapon mount

Holy shit, GOD is going HARD in Rigger 5.

>>
>>44231979
Yeah, seriously. I don't get it, but our usual GM couldn't sort out character creation in SR5 even with my help, but as soon as he read through the GURPS basic set he said he could never go back to a d20-based system.

I just want to play a goddamn Shadowrun campaign with friends.
>>
>>44232026
GURPS isn't hard, but SR is easy as fuck too.
>>
>>44232092

SR 5e is a bitch to figure out if you're new, because it was edited by some cultists of the Great Old Ones. The only way to actually know how shit works is look at fan edits and then check with the book.
Or you can shred the book and sink the pieces in a translucent crystal vase. As the moonlight filters through it, listen to the corners, which will then proceed to explain the system. Just remember to politely decline their insurance offer.

damn, close. and that's what I thought, I'd imagine Ares would just slap a new cyberarm on then automatically deduct the funds from that person's account. Employee discount of course. Further question, after something like that, would they let the person quit?

It really is. Yekka, can we get you to redo the cover art for all the books? You've got better taste than CGL.

Outsource a table of contents and index to any anon who wants to do it, replace the cover art, start putting the revised editions into the pastebin download list. We can do CGL's job for them, and probably better.

For fucks sake what in the fucking fuck!

How the hell do those fat fucks get on in the first place? there is no way in hell they are benching 300 pounds... There is no way in hell they could make the time on the 1.5 mile. no way in hell they could do 3/4 of the requirements.

That is pretty absurd, where I live the physical requirements for a sheriff's deputy is as follows: Drag 165 lb. dummy 30 feet in 15 seconds
Scale a 6-foot wall in 12 seconds
Run 500 yards in 1 minute, 45 seconds.
>>
>>44240432

>Scale a 6-foot wall in 12 seconds
I'm 6'3", this can't be real.

This can't fucking be real. I'm out of shape as all fuck and I could easily do that.

>>
>>44240536
>>44240539
Keep in mind this is for Sheriff's deputies not local police. Requirements are not as high because sheriff's department are rarely first responders, local cops usually are. Considering trying out for deputy myself though, pay is 65K a year starting.
>>
>>44240356
Yup. All drones in the network share programs, they gain a pilot rating equal to the DR of the RCC so you don't need to spend 20,000 per drone for Pilot 6, AND they get a dice pool bonus equal to the number of other drones in the network. It's fucking ridiculous.
>>
>>44240474

I think every PD in IL requires the "P.O.W.E.R." test.

a 16 inch sit and reach, 37 sit ups in 1 min, benchpress %98 of your bodyweight, and a 13 min 46 second 1.5 mile run.

They only thing i couldent do was benchpress %98 of my weight.

But my local PD has a fuckton of fat fucks on it that are EASILY 300 pounds.

If i wait till im 30 the requirements become easier. benchpress drops down to %87 of your body weight.
>>
>>44240580

Also every sheriffs department around requires the POWER test as well... fuck my life.
>>

Cybereyes. Vision upgrades paid for with essence (except for ultrasonic) work for determining line of sight.

Probably the one upgrade (other than a few bits of cultured bio) that's actually a reasonable choice for a mage.
>>
>>44241395
This, cyberlimbs are pretty useless for a mage, or for most people unless you plan to abuse the shit out of the capacity rules. But then that doesn't really apply to mages as they have magical ways of avoiding/mitigating damage. Leave the chrome tank role to those that didn't put A or B in magic.

Teacup sat across from the Johnson and swung her dangling feet from the barstool. It looked childish, especially from Teacup. Being under a meter tall made her look like a child, and she played the role when she could. It wasn’t her favorite role - that would be wheelman - but right now Dagger wanted her to sit up tall, swing her little legs, and bounce, ever so slightly like a happy child. It kept Mr. Johnson’s mind off-step.
“We’ll do it, but the cash has to be up front. Once this is done, we’re in the wind,” Dagger barked. The harsh tone of his voice jarred the Johnson’s eyes from Teacup. “Uh, well. My employer...” he stammered. Quite unprofessional. “Up front or no deal,” Dagger said again. This time Teacup timed her bounce with a little shoulder stretch and stuck out her namesakes. The move caught the Johnson’s eye.
“Of course. Up front. Let me just make the arrangements.” Mr. Johnson’s eyes seemed to light up as a smirk crossed his lips, “No need for your whole team to be delayed. I’ll work it out and transfer the money to Miss Teacup here. I’m sure the team trusts her to spread it around fairly.” Teacup almost laughed. The innuendos in his speech were so blatant they almost couldn’t be called innuendo.
She held it in and smiled demurely.
“Go ahead guys. The cars already warmed up and rolling up front. I won’t be long.” No one argued. They knew she could handle this creep if the need arose. She had already sent commands to the car, the van, and six drones in the area while bouncing childishly on a chair in order to preoccupy the mind of the closet pedophile Johnson. Brushing him off was as easy as pointing out how similar she was to a little girl, despite her more mature accoutrements and Mr. J would clam right up.
Two minutes later the money was being distributed, and Teacup was uploading a rather inappropriate proposition from Mr. J to her private storage in case she found a way to use it against him someday.

It's a matter of personal security, as you never know when you'll run across an unprofessional fuckstick who'll try and turn on you.

So, it's easy to get lost in all the new toys, but is anybody else looking at Rigger 5 and realizing they've completely redefined what drones are in Shadowrun? The android secretaries, the Pilot programs being closer to proto-AI, it's a more invasive sort of thing than the ineffectual Manservants and dogbrains we've been looking at in previous editions. Are you going to play this up in your games (if you're in control of that sort of thing) or keep it more toned down?

I'm fairly new. How do you go about researching a johnson when the point is you don't know who you're working for.
>>
>>44243131
Johnsons are often middlemen just like your fixer. Finding out who exactly hired them to contact your fixer and find runners is difficult, but chances are "Mr.Johnson" himself is known in the shadows.

Research tbat, what kind of jobs he offered, how it turned out, that kind of things; get any edge you can.

>>
So, to give a bit of flavour to their achievements I sent my players a mail with a audio log transcript about them found on JackPoint, where the author tries to keep a track of the "noisy" jobs they did but now they absolutely want to find the guy who is doing the tracking.
>>
>>44243310

Or just some cop or corpsec guy.
>>
>>44243310
Some rich corp kid with too much time and surveillance equipment.
>>
>>44243310
The guy who posted it onto jackpoint doesn't have to be the guy who made the recording.

Whoever made the recording can be anyone who would have an interest in shadowrunner activity. Whoever uploaded it and is an actual member of jackpoint could be someone who has a lot of information network contacts and the actual tracker is just a small fish among many.
>>
>>44243353
>>44243371
>>44243389

>>
>>44243310

JackPoint is a Data Haven. They're like an invite only Warez site.
They're considered illegal by the corps, because they tend to post stuff that they want a secret, the corps have no influence to censor them, etc.
To avoid spies and wikipedia bullshit, JackPoint has a list of trusted members, who have the right to post information. For someone to be elevated to Trusted, they need to submit data through someone who's already trusted, who will then vouch for them. The admins then look at the data the applicant has to offer, which needs to be something not just anyone can get their hands on. After that they get a trial period before becoming trusted. All members must continue to provide data otherwise their rank gets revoked.

Reading on JackPoint is a lot easier though. I don't know if it's just open access, but all the rulebooks are styled to be JackPoint excerpts.
>>
>>44243470
>They're considered illegal by the corps
There's a line somewhere that's basically Piratebay. Something about a Data Haven in Sweden getting raided by a HTR team who straight bricked all the servers there. Then a line about the surviving backup servers being currently on a ship travelling who-knows-where, trying to avoid getting traced.
>>
>>44243470
Most JackPoint sections are supposed to have been compiled and edited by Jack's circle of contributors, and released to the public should it become important. Or other Runners should they manage to convince someone with access to share.
>>
>>44243493
So... WikiLeaks?
>>
>>44243470
So my runners' indic (the cousin of the adept, actually) has access to the feed too. And he probably had to give out and is still giving out data to have access to the feed.

Interesting. Lots of plot hooks there.

I've never read the rules for cyborgs, or cyborg PCs, but I came up with a character concept that's really cool fluff-wise. Before I even delve into the SR4 books, have any of you tried to do it before? Is it even worth trying? If it is, do you have any house rules for cyborgs?
They'll be a hacker primarily since the crew's got a loltroll already, and I know if I focused on combat with the 'borg I'd instagib everything.

Jokes on you, the part that makes you useless is not that your playing a cyborg, but that your playing a hacker in 4e. Seriously, dont play as a hacker, just buy a commlink and load it up with agents and programs, and stick in on the mage or sammy.
>>
>>44244227
How bad is hacking? I've heard bad things about it (and worse about technomancy) but it's iffy on the details. Is it not as good as agents, is it boring?
