Last time on Maticico we got moved, Rizal discovered her inner Scientist, and Umbra has finally arranged a pick up for the death miasma.

We discovered Rizal's interesting quirks, MASSIVE trade deals were made, and our lovely Warlord is avoiding zombie hordes for...reasons. Also pretending to not witness what is going on between the CEO and Ginny.

A large number of our forces went 'missing' for the Warlord's training trip. They were last seen moving among the monsters. Meanwhile Sal is still missing.

Anyway the Genie has a cold so expect quality to decline this thread.

Tek Bandits are still traumatized

CEO, go to the Think Tank with another project.

We want to improve RAGE tank design. Not for artillery only, but as a superior Tank or Anti-Air autocanon as well

Currently the RAGE and SAMFAP system + Tek guidance the autocanon can fire the right amount of the right shells with impressive accuracy+speed

There is still the issue of the pilot delay. The pilot must approve IFF, and communicate with the other tankers

Even more Time could be cut out Neural Helmets to link psionic tank pilots telepathically. Psions who can see past walls and hills can relay info to each other at long distances, and employ "Instantaneous shoot on sight" tactics where when a pilot see's an enemy (either visually or via psionics) the trajectory and fire rate is calculated and fired in less than a second. An entire whole row of targets could be fired on faster than one blinks by a single tank. Smart shells can be guided to target weakspots by the forward observer.

Scattered RAGE tanks can coordinate like an entire battery, a whole team of can destroy on a spotted hostile together. Land or air targets

We'd also like to improve the general structure, armor, chasis. Improve a good Super Tank design into a great Super Tank design

"The problem with JAL's tech is that its infused with MADNESS. While this can have beneficial consequences they can also be harmful in equal measure. JAL is a MAD AI he has infused the strange AI solutions with MADNESS to create his own brand of tech. Given that he is able to even upgrade a hero(Roy) he is absolutely very good at what he does."

"As for manufacturing...well why not grow them? Granted they'll be infested vehicles but that only means they can regenerate and enjoy other Brood benefits. He was instructed to find Forti Co remnants for their specialties. He will no doubt find them...eventually.

Using psions to pilot is one thing. However to give that same benefit to non psions will require either advanced enough tech infused into the pilots or psytech.

The Think Tank admits psi tech isn't really their specialty at all. Not to mention they point out that currently your vehicle targeting assists and newly installed AI systems are actually quite advanced.

They already communicate with each other and offer firing support accordingly. They'll even time each other's shots so they can hit the same target at the same time.

Problem is that is entirely AI based and frankly the tech used for is costly. Ginny arranged to get them during the shopping spree then had all the software downloaded and hardware replaced.

Frankly the only way they can improve in such a fashion anymore is using the pilots themselves and improving their connection to their vehicle. A trick according to Lil P isn't at all easy.

Even Lil P wont claim to be well connected to anything but Big P.

Now basic other improvements is doable. Ginny just states that for improved performance like that will require either a damn good programmer(as she can somewhat handle the hardware aspect) or improving the pilots.

Seems like an oddly slow day today.

Perhaps now we should just focus on filling out our numbers of vehicles. Do we have designs for fighters and such, as the Warlord requested?

When I look at our defenses, we have a bunch of advanced stuff, but still the same superstructure, auto defense network, trenches and barbed wire we've always had. Perhaps we should upgrade these things? (or build some awesome base shields)

We're still getting Omitar Black's upgrades one at a time; is anyone keeping track of that?

You would have to use infested vehicles and infested pilots but it is certainly viable.

The reason why humans were convinced the Brood was actually an hivemind was due to how absurdly good they were at communicating and working together.

Ginny offers the morbid option of using actual brains. Apparently they were a cheap alternative to legit AI and was seen as more 'trustful' then true AI systems(which is actually entirely untrue). However some people get little antsy about it but its not like mind wiped 'reformed' criminal possible soldiers weren't a thing. It was only a short step from there to implement brains 'AI'. One of the big reasons why they didn't want people to crack open a 'black box' for an AI housing. Is because often times it would actually reveal a jacked in brain and life support system for it.

Corps LOVED using brains for a cheaper and 'safer' alternative to 'artificial' intelligence.

Yeah my setting is actually rather dark at times but humorous at others...

Fucking corps when you consider their advanced biotech and distrust for AI leads to some really fucked up shit. At least the Brood were obvious and blunt about their literal brain farms.

Life support systems are very fucking important in the post fall world because of all the shit that is floating around which can fuck you over without actually fighting you.

Dude is apparently adopting a heavy mechanized force for your military. All infantry including support personnel are required to be a suit of power armor by him.

You'll get all the Omitar black tech in about 11 turns. They only reverse engineered the tech you specificly requested.

There are no volunteers except for a few crazy personnel. That was when Axum stated 'this is what slaves are for'. To fulfill purposes our people wont be interested in.

Aircraft are being...grown. Meanwhile we have proceeded to make additional aircraft as well.

CEO does a fine job at finding more aircraft. In fact their designs are better then our own and he even arranged for the purchasing of Old World aircraft. Admittedly the CEO had to trade for them with our own tech given...well he didn't have much else to trade besides are precious expensive resources, also he didn't want them to know just how wealthy we really are.

Which is all obviously far superior to our own homegrown crafts.

According to Sarah there is just too many factions. Many of whom are powerful because they are ALL interested in the tower. Good news is this means they tend to pour too many resources into the tower to cause much trouble for their neighbors. So fighting is actually surprisingly minimal all things considered.

Axum states we simply have too many troops for the amount of vehicles we'll need to support them. He suggests stealing, salvaging, or smaller but easier to make vehicles.

The CEO is currently doing his best making friends with bots, bandits, and mutants given they are the least biased against us.

About the living space, I think we should explore some of the cleared monster dens we found at the end of last thread.

We're not suffering overcrowding yet, so there's no rush. Some of the dens might be old facilities we could get running again.

Much of the monster bases have been reclaimed. A few of them were however claimed by JAL.

Last we contacted him he stated that he was going to teach our forces the art of subterfuge...after they enjoy their trip to the wasteland and back.

After that he claims they will be officially finished training and you'll be able to enjoy a nice harvest of bad ass forces. As for requests...he would like some better combat drugs and more vehicles.

He says their training will be done in a few more turns as right now he is finishing up the trauma. 'Either they will be broken and dead or completely bad asses motherfuckers.' as he claims.

The idea is less a small thruster and more 10,000,000 normal-sized thrusters that coordinate to generate the same thrust as a handful of huge ones. Fewer engineering hurdles there than creating a megathruster. The idea being that the mountain already floats so we mainly just need to push it places and be able to add additional lift occasionally if needbe.

Problem is a lot of stuff is pretty well picked over or is rather buried/dangerous. Lot of rubble hard to believe this used to be a megacity.

Psi borg augs constructed. Sadly they are not as high quality as our first batch.

Ghouls like it because it doesn't bother them hardly at all. Mutants are merely resistant. Its why they can be found in wastelands without special tech.

Still the CEO looks around for mutants. Fortunately ever since the horror trip that was the wasteland he knows of some mutant bases to visit.

Diggers proceed to start digging.

Finding wrecks and proof there DID exist a megacity here at some point. Just the surface of it got wrecked so hard to the point of being nonexistent. Not to mention being drowned in rubble.

Alright, here's some suggestions on how to deal with everyone when we're trying to take over the region.
Weak factions: Essentially make them our vassals. They pay us for their continued existence.
Strong factions: If possible, make friends. Otherwise terminate with extreme prejudice.
Monster dens and Zombie nests: Most will get infested. We need to find some that, when cleared, would make good bases, and take them for ourselves.

The 'township' is less a town more a clusterfuck of a city. Hellish maze that actually hasn't collapsed on itself due to your high corporate standards for building codes.

Pity the poor bastards who ever think of trying to assault that place. Its become quite the clusterfuck ever since you went bandit and got so populated. Better off just pummeling into rubble...problem is that place has a LOT of juicy tech inside and corp paranoia for defense.

You know that literally today, the modern day world uses plasma on a fairly common basis right? Every coal or natural gas power plant in the world produces shittons of the stuff. Star plasma isn't any different aside from being mainly hydrogen (not at all hard to make) and being an order of magnitude or two hotter (for no inherent reason aside from having the heat around and available). If star plasma is special because of magic or something in your setting that's one thing but there's not a scientific delineation.

Lightning plasma is also the same as star plasma. Though in general you do not need to have stuff be nearly so hot before it forms into plasma and becomes electrically conductive by definition.

Before the sheathing development plasma weapon tech was very crude to nonexistent. The sheathing tech was also key in developing cold plasma shielding once they figured out cold plasma.

Cold plasma shielding is wildly popular among human forces for their space ships. However there were some problems with cold plasma shielding development for planetary usage so i wasn't all that common yet.

Before the breakthrough in plasma weaponization. Laser weaponry was king of the human energy weaponry.

Plasma breakthrough however strangled laser tech especially on planetary surfaces where the atmosphere really screws over lasers.

Other forms of energy based weaponry like ions weren't really all that advanced yet among humanity but very popular among aliens.

For a very long time for space age weaponry humans widely used/limited to missiles, Gauss, and Lasers. Plasma weapon breakthrough was a rather recent development and provided a nice boost to other forms of energy weapon development.

Firearms are a classic however and even they actually advanced a bit when new technologies was used to upgrade them to prevent them from being completely outdated. Mostly due to logistical and expense purposes. It would of been hellishly expensive otherwise.

The biggest gains for firearms was in the form of munitions and material development. Guns were now made to fire special ammo depending on the situation or even influence their munitions to have a special effect bestowed by the gun to its own ammo. You now had 'elemental guns' or guns that were able to switch between ammo like fire, caustic(both in anti armor or flesh variants), and all other kinds of fun!

Combine that with some nice tech development upgrades off and on making sure guns were actually able to hold their position despite the increasing competition.

Yeah i'll admit my inner /k/ came out when I worked on the weaponry. They really helped a lot actually. I will also admit to not being a scientist but i do try and do my research. My setting may be soft sci fi but I like it when I can still rely heavily upon irl development as a basis and enhance it for my setting.

For instance i will admit to being massively butthurt when I discovered energy restraints for stuff like power armor in terms of battery capacity. Other stuff I am no engineer so I don't really know how to best describe the varies components. I did however did my research on advanced materials science and discovered the joys of blueprints+rd printer. Which really helped cover my ass. Like a lot.

Upon seeing the recent breakthroughs I realized i would need to make some new abstract material groups.

That is how 'exotic' and 'rares' came from. I know theoretically there are materials out there that we don't know about yet or that we will later develop. I know that my setting crosses different universes. So I included this into my 'material' brackets.

Rare, exotic, common, uncommon, I organized the materials like such. While its not the best system it DOES however take into consideration unknown materials and breakthroughs.

So I do try and while i wont EVER claim my setting is a hard sci fi its because I know there is simply no way to tell what kind of interesting materials we may discover and breakthroughs that will occur. Still I do try to make a passing nod to what we DO know about and stretch things out quite a bit to better fit my setting.

I always liked the settings where the writers didn't handwave everything and actually had some of those details in the background included. There is some stuff I personally conceal like the 'black box' materials that corps don't want you to open because of 'dangerous' materials excuse.

The REAL reason is help coverup whats inside! That is why they do their best to prevent tampering...they don't want certain things to be known. So i have to include that in the available knowledge and hidden knowledge.

Biggy found them. Somehow they got mistaken for a couple from our own faction and shenanigans happened. They somehow got married by accident and went on a strange trip/honeymoon that wasn't even ment for them.

Still they are married now.

Axum and the director both agree upon the use of outposts. However they disagree on the defense layout.

The direct wants a series of bunkers but Axum doesn't. He wants only a couple of key bases. Problem is the directator states it will take time for our forces to react. Which Axum claims is the point.

If when they are attacked and they get drained it makes them even more dependent on the security that Axum offers...diabolical really. It also means our forces will have less of a hard fight ahead of them as they get drained as well.

Not to mention Axum asks about the underground?

That is when the director states that he would of preferred to use a towers and combine them with the outpost. However if we use bunkers...he shows us a security screen.

The bunkers have the unique ability to form an underground defense network layout. Since we can see whats in the air unlike with underground. he preferred the use of bunkers to help with underground defenses as we wont have nearly as much of a warning should it come from below.

Meaning the bunkers of a duel defensive purpose.

Axum however likes the towers idea as not only it would it improve our detection range it would also mean the towers could support one another with firepower from afar. Even creating multiple rackets to draw forces away aiding our own forces directly or indirectly. In otherwords a more aggressive approach.

The two of them cannot seem to agree on anything. With Axum taking an aggressive stance and the director a Defensive one.

We can only do one or the other buts likely to piss one of them off no matter which we choose. Unless we do something else.

What if we combined underground defenses with our Subterrine fleet and Brood Diggers?

Our Subterrine fleet could be trained in underground-land naval warfare with the use of nucelar torpedo's or close range ground piercing rounds via SAMFAP and RAGE systems, as well as the drills for melee attacks head on. In addition to this our MAD Diggers to support the armored undeground with infantry underground

The Brood underground monsters could also serve as additional defense, perhaps Rizal could develop Brood Tech Walls and tunnels that self repair.

Bases could act like subterrine fleet outposts, deploying subterrines for underground attack or defense. Possibly with more drill torpedo emplacements as well

Its not like nobody shipped for them as a couple anyway. Given they are the only two heroic psions we possess. Still they didn't exactly like the encouragement and their strong abilities meant constant spoilers with a non heroic spion as they knew exactly what they were thinking of all the time.

Oddly enough both Axum and Director both firmly agree upon the need of taking a firm stance. They both agree a dynamic mobile defense and offense is a bad idea. Axum doesn't mind letting the brood cover for our underground defenses but Director doesn't trust them with that. Preferring the bunker approach and allowing us to keep a closer eye on them by encouraging them to the surface and watching them more closely.

Supposedly the reason why they agree on the notso mobile offense and is according to Axum. The new world is a gigantic costly clusterfuck. Mobile is good when trying to take ground or run away, but keeping it not so much. Too much shit comes out and will gradually eat you alive if you try to stay unless you got a nice pretty big base between them.

Director suggests it because he says we aren't familiar with how things have changed and its easier to hold onto something should we firmly fortify it. Especially given the awesome manufacturing base we possess and our ability for construction. He says we should stick with an overlapping defense network and slowly push out gradually taking ground while fortifying the entire way.

When he explained Axum had a 'SON OF A BITCH' moment when he shouted out loud. As suddenly he remembers some stuff and suddenly its all making sense...followed by a 'no wonder you fortified assholes are so hard to take goddamn'. Which the security director merely grunts in confirmation.

Okay, Security Director wants to keep a close eye on the Brood. This is based on distrust, but if we're going to eventually merge with them it'd be good to get closer to them anyway.

I'm almost tempted to go with both plans: a few towers, with many defensive hidden bunkers between them. The fortifications enemies can see, with the ones they can't see as a surprise.

Other than the Brood thing, I'm leaning towards Axum's plan.

We plan to conquer a place then fortify it, so this is good training.

Plus, I'd imagine Axum would think that's too easy. What would be the point of fortifying a place to test defense if there was nothing to defend from?

Is your plan to train to conquer and fortify locations by fortifying and then conquering something? That makes no sense, but I don't know how else to interpret what you're saying.

And are you forgetting most of our military forces are doing Axum's last stage of training and are MIA?

Be aware silenced artillery cannot silence the resulting boom when it lands so well unless you cough up the money for those snazzy silent shots the Tek bandits got.

The difference is the director doesn't want a bunch of big bases. He wants a network of overlappinger bunkers. Make it easy to retreat to the surrounding bunkers should something get fucked and to easily reinforce each other.

Axum would prefer towers and not entrench into the ground.

Axum was very disappointing that literally everyone failed the test. According to our psions though the last test was beyond fucked up. Our guys managed to survive but didn't pass it.

So you may wish to reconsider redoing it.
