Run teams generally such a dysfunctional bunch of weirdos that you just have to make a team where everyone is combat oriented/capable and you end up with a metal-gear solid boss team.

Case and point, the game I'm running most recently had:

>Invincible Australian Gnome with a minigun
>Punk (Former) Eco-Terrorist Shaman
>Srsface Elf Sniper, Punk's Sister
>Lusty Trap Hacker who's themed after a stage magician and used lots of holograms and invisible drones

A. I never actually made it to the end in the first place. There's ~350 unposted images between those two archives.

B. The only reason I was able to post so much is because I was between jobs and waiting around bored for emails from recruiters and such. As I have recently started a new job, this is no longer the case.

C. A few people (including Little Mac, from what I could tell) were starting to get annoyed, and I prefer not to bother people.

D. It was getting dangerously close to avatarfagging, and I'd like to go back to true anon-hood again.

E. >>47392175's point is excellent. I've been picking up quite a bit of excellent non-catgirl art that I plan to start posting instead. The variety in /srg/'s go-to images is in dire need of improvement.

F. If anyone really misses the kitties enough, then they can pick up where I left off. The images in the top level of the first archive and all the images of the second were not posted to /srg/. Also this one escaped the archival process, so she's been posted here.

Let's say my runner has lost a lot of essence through all the ware she has gotten. Like >1 essence left. Does that dull out her previous personality?

I had an idea that after her childhood accident with shitty sprawl gangs and growing up with ware. She was a bit cold and didn't have any friends. So she acted out for attention and got a cool cyber tattoo, later after seeing some sexy slutty Simsense star with breast implant 2.0 she got that. Same thing after seeing some rave stripper girl dancing on stage with fiber optic hair.
All these mods only make her more weird with her ice cold personality.

Does this sound unreasonable or did I inadvertently make cyber-tomoko?

You're not sold on a game that is not yet out, and hasn't released any sort of beta or even said how it's going to work other than "It will be like regular Shadowrun, but different"?
>>
>>47393186
If you're allowed to play that, go nuts. In a game that's a bit more loose on the definition of "magical realm", that character concept sounds pretty good to me, and I in fact think it makes her more memorable (not to mention that of course people do that kind of shit in the Sixth Age).
If your game is stricter, though, or has some people who're allergic to animu, let it off. The only thing it'll do is stir shit.

The social and personality impact of Essence loss can be represented in several ways.

It can look like a sense of superiority, a general disconnect with humanity, a coldly robotic personality, the jitters of Wired Reflexes, etc.

There's no one thing that Essence loss does to personality. Multiple Qualities in the game can represent some of the more extreme effects, like Superhuman Psychosis or Cyberpsychosis, but none of these are universal.

What does tend to rub out personalities is abuse of personafix BTL chips.

Does anyone here have experience with bow users?
One of my players wants to use a bow, and I want to know how it goes/ what the pros and cons are
>>
The damage to my eyes had been superficial, with little effect on the optic nerves. The street doc Fizz took me to was pleased about that. She gave me two different models as replacements: The left a B&L Envisio 280L, the right a Fuchi-Tanner AVX. One blue, one brown.

My eyes weren't what I expected. All I knew about cybernetics, I'd learned from adverts and Trid shows. On the trid, whenever they showed something from the slick cyber-sam's point of view they'd change how the image looked. I'd never really thought about what that would mean in real life. My eyes were like little trideo cameras. The image was too sharp sometimes, with too much detail. Colors looked different than I remembered. At first my left eye changed focus faster than my right, which gave me splitting headaches; I got that fixed after about a month.Occasional bursts of static or distortion cropped up without warning. I could see shapes better in darkness, but it was harder to pick out details. The biggest changes where the most subtle. I could always feel them, especially in the morning when they felt colder than my meat body. When the rest of me felt wasted, the eyes continued to perform. They also changed the way I saw.

I'm not talking physical vision. The cybereyes changed how I reacted to what I saw; They instantly distanced me from what I was seeing. For a while I felt like I was watching the world through trideo cameras; the eyes gave everything a sense of unreality, a detachment that made me a voyeur during the events of my own life. That level of detachment lasted only a few weeks or so after I got the focus problem fixed, but it made an impact. Every now and then it creeps in, the sense of disassociation as I watch events unfold. I stare a lot, I'm told, unblinkingly, because of the electro-static charge on the outer lenses that keep the eyes clean. People say it's disquieting. I know what they mean.

The pros of the bow is that it's a strengthly weapon that's more or less legal in most jurisdictions, doesn't set off most metal detectors (assuming the metal parts of modern bows are replaced with plasteel), and can be fired nearly silently.

The cons are that it's about as complicated to sneak into someplace as an assault rifle, can't be broken down nearly as efficiently and who the fuck trains someone to kill people with a bow in the 2070's? Do you want the cops to know exactly who shot up a corp facility with a fucking bow? "So, Officer Fucknob, what do we know about the perp?" "Well, Officer Dingus, the perp used a bow, so I think we can safely say it's the same perp as every other bow-related homicide in the last six months. Maybe there's a pattern here."
>>
I was sixteen when I got the spurs. Two of them, both in my right forearm. One extended past my wrist, the other in the opposite direction past my elbow. The street doc said she'd never heard of anyone mounting a pair that way. They made me dangerous, just the way I wanted. Most people's spurs only go one way, to threaten the guy in the front, they guy sneaking up from behind isn't expecting to meet a blade in his gut from your elbow. I had an edge, and I used it. A pair of street punks tried to bounce me for the cash bag I was carrying, and I took both down with a single swing of my right arm. It felt great.

My spurs gave me power. Even though I was just a courier, my spurs let me solve a couple of minor problems on my own. The yaks kept an eye on me and liked what they saw. The spurs made me cocky, and it showed. I knoew they where there. I could feel them whenever I twisted my right wrist. I lost a fair amount of flexibility in that wrist, but I thought the price was worth it. The spurs sliced some humility from me. I knew I could kill someone if I could reach them, and with practice I learned to make an attack look like a completely natural motion. I stood a little taller and talked a little sharper. ON the street I took less drek and acted a little less afraid. The yaks took notice and I moved up.

By the time I was twenty, I ran the couriers. They all answered to me, I told them where to go and what to do. I also carried a gun by then, an old colt commanche complete with smartlink cyberware. That wire was caustic, I had to replace it twice before it worked right. By then I'd moved up to a bonafide yak cyberdoc, he wired the smartlink through my right arm, which made me wish I'd installed the spurs on the left. He actually left a little scarring, but I didn't' really care that much. Actually, I liked the scars. I thought they made me look like bad news. I was Somebody.

It requires a fair amount of optimization to make it competitive, especially because you are probably going to be spending karma on adept powers and abilities to max your STR while other people can just spend nuyen on guns for the same effect.

It's silent, you can get cool arrowheads, and it's stylish as all hell, which ought to be enough. I'd recommend having a backup weapon like grenades or a machine pistol for when you need to fight groups of enemies.
>>
>>47393267

They've said Anarchy will be compatible with regular Shadowrun, which has rules I'm not personally a fan of. It's not that much of a leap to suggest that maybe the final product also won't be what I'm looking for.
>>
>>47393492
pros
>hackproof
>silent
>good for taking down people without killing them
>able to do damage similar to a gun
>not restricted
>good for ambush or sniping

cons
>ammo is expensive
>difficult to conceal
>ammo is also difficult to conceal
>bad for assault
>no full auto mode
>>
>>47393492

>>47393598 covered most of what I'd say, but the other downside to bow use is that like melee, it requires more stats and effort to make viable. Bows can be startlingly effective on a troll or ork thanks to their high STR, but a human will have to invest harder to keep bow damage in line with guns.
>>
>>47393492
They're not the best, but they work.

Outside the core book, the relevant rules are in Run and Gun and Hard Targets.

A high strength user is doing about the same damage as a lower-tier sniper rifle. Variant arrowheads and shafts add some options firearms don't have, and the stick n shock arrowheads with static shafts are the top damage option for lower strength users.

The Archery skill also covers a few other oddball weapons, like the harpoon gun and the slingshot which you may find a use for every now and then.

There's a few archery-specific adept powers, but they are not so powerful that a mundane is not also a perfectly competent and viable archer.

The big advantage of bows is that they're completely silent.

The smartlink interface made the commanche feel warm when the safety was off. Neat trick, and it brought a real meaning to the adage 'Happiness is a warm gun".

[...]

Eventually, my entire left armor became chrome. It also got banged up a long more than the meat right. I guess I treated it less careful. I knew it could take more punishment, except for the fragging skin (Don't let anyone sell you on the paradise of synthskin, chummers, the drek is a pain. It may be slightly more durable than real skin, but it doesn't heal. When it gets scragged up you gotta replace it. I've had enough new skin over the years to cover a thousand limbs. My line of work isn't kind to a body)

I kept sticking my arm where it didn't belong. I trashed it once, a surreal experience. I'd paid extra nuyen for the full-function pain receptors (If the option comes your way do it, it will safe your life) so despite the weight and motion differences the arm felt like it was mine. Iscragged it tangling with wendigo up in Athabasca. The beast and I where equally surprised when the arm came off in it's claws. Pain dampers automatically cut in when something like that happens, so I felt a hellacious twinge and then, pop! The wendigo staggered backwards holding my arm. I stared at it. THe beast stared at me and then tried to nosh on my limb. WHile it was tasting metal and getting more confused I picked up my fallen comanche and put two rounds in it's eye.

In time I got a bunch of add-ons for the arm, but I kept it looking as normal as possible. Looking like two tons of death can be beneficial sometimes, but for me looking like a tough but-still-human SOB was a better choice. Plenty of people suggested that I get the right arm done, too, some docs believe things work better in pairs. I don't know if they meant physically or psychologically. I resisted, I figured one arm was enough.
>>
What are the best SR books to read through, in your opinion? Looking for stuff that nails the feeling of classic Shadowrun. Right now I'm just puttering through Market Panic and the Sixth World Almanac.
>>
I got my first set of wired reflexes right after the wendigo incident. I hated them. They gave me a terrific edge, but I lost total control of my own body. With wired reflexes, you're -always- on edge. Any little noise, any little motion, could set me off. It took me years to train myself to handle the edginess. They're called wired reflexes for a reason, a reflex action is automatic, you react and the reflex takes over, removing the thinking/judging/responding time from the equation. Perceived threat equals reaction, so you better hope the threat's real. Early on I took steps to lose control. As dangerous as it was, I kept my gun turned off. It took only fractions of a second to bring it to a ready-state, and I needed those milliseconds to bring things under control.

I started doing all the things that I'd spent years laughing at street sams for doing. I sat with my back to the wall, not just so that no-one could sneak up on me, but also to force my friends to approach me from the front. That way my wires couldn't overreact and geek them. I kept my eyes open, tracking everyone, watching the movement around me I became paranoid by necessity. I was lucky, I never accidentally killed anyone. I punched my brother Fizz too many times to count and sent more than one poor slob who stumbled too close spinning across the pavement, but that's it.

I picked up some headware communications gear along the way and learned why street sams always seem to be talking to themselves. They're actually talking to Johnsons and Fixers and contacts and anyone else that might give them a job. I found out that some of them talk to themselves to make everyone else think they're hot in the biz and tracking the scene. All too often, those guys are talking to their moms or calling the voice-sex line where their girlfriend works.

Bioware frightened me, and I resisted it for a long time. To me, chrome was chrome. It was a machine and I could deal with that. Parts of my body had been replaced by metal, null grief. Docs had been replacing parts of people with machine bits for years: Hearts, lungs, stomachs, livers, kidneys and so on. No one thorught wice about it and neither did I. ut bioware, that drek is gengineered body parts grown to be better than the ones nature gave you. Also, cyberware tends to replace parts that don't work anymore, with bioware they actually go in and replace some part of you that's perfectly fine with a hunk of vat-born cells that do the same job and more, they hope.

So that drek spooked me. After a long while I opted for muscle augmentation, which I convinced myself wasn't all that different from cybernetic muscle replacement except in techno-babble ways the docs could argue over. In the end, I was pleased with my choice. I could feel the difference: I could hit harder and faster, and handling really heavy guns or other gear wasn't nearly as much of a strain. I felt like I moved a lot more smoothly, too, though I'm not sure if this was real or just a psychological quirk. It felt like my body was more in sync with itself.

As with the metal, my first piece of bioware made the next ones easier to deal with. I had a street doc inject me with some symbiotes to get me on my feet faster after I'd screwed up and gotten hurt. They made me feel incredibly good, and I didn't mind having to carry around pocketfuls of stuffers. I'd always been a big eater and needed to exercise a lot to keep my weight down, so the symbiotes did me something of an extra favor. They also make me feel like I'm running a slight fever, but I'm willing to put up with that minor discomfort. Funny thing, I haven't gotten a cold since the symbiotes where put in.

My last piece of bioware was a nasty adrenal pump for emergencies. It's come damn close to giving me heart attacks twice, the most embarassing of which happened at an urban brawl game that I had too much money riding on. They're not kidding when they tell you these things are touchy. My regular doc also tells me my blood pressure's slightly elevated and warns me against salting my stuffer fries too much. Small price to pay, though, for a biogadget that's saved my life more than once. Because of that pump, I've taken hits that would have felled an elephant and kept on going long enough to get out of bad trouble. I paid for it with fucking-near-total physical collapse, of course. I'm talking a few solid days flat on my back, then another week feeling weaker than a baby. but I stayed alive, that's the important thing.

I've gotten nothing much new in the past six years, except for minor parts and incremental upgrades to software and firmware. I had my bones laced with plastic four years ago, and I can feel that all the time. I'm not sure if the docs did a bad job or what, but I swear sometimes I can feel my joints grinding together. Then again, it might just be old age creeping in.

>>
>>47396306
>will do anything to get loot.

Anything? Like do legwork, plan an illicit operation, and execute without a hitch? If yes, then maybe you should give them an opportunity to do the typical Shadowrun things rather than just having them kill a bunch of stuff legally.

(it can be wetwork if they really, really love killing).
>>
>>47396419
>>47396421

They've wanted to try it, it's just that typically they really want combat most of the time.

One of them tries to take charge as party leader but barely thinks at all and most of the time, lands the party in hot waters.

One always min maxes and the last one only want to live a quiet life as a hired gun.

And since I've played Shadowrun for a bit, I've been chosen to GM.

>>47396665
They're willing to plan heists and stuff. It's just they usually don't think it all the way through and get caught, which results in just plan out killing anyone in their way.

Unless the person in the way has a vagina, then the "party leader" will try to convince her to join them even if it means the other PCs are pushed to the side.

This then causes party conflict of pettiness that continues to grow larger and larger til they accidentally blown up a city.
>>
>>47397178
Yeah, put them in Chicago or the Barrens where they can't do any harm (at least not to people with the resources of nations), crank the mohawk up to "Hot Pink", and have at it.

I recommend the gang warfare surrogate idea from a week or so ago, if anyone has that cap.
>>
>>47397178
>They're willing to plan heists and stuff. It's just they usually don't think it all the way through and get caught

In that case, have their initial runs be against people who can't go to the law - extract a girl from an illegal bunraku parlor, steal a shipment that was already stolen by some Vory, kill gangers, that kind of thing.

That way they can practice actually succeeding at missions with softer consequences if they completely fuck up.

If/once they've managed to improve, then they can start running against megacorps and whatnot.

Less often than you'd think, by the way people talk about it. Unless you live on the outskirts of Sydney, that is. Getting in or out of the city is testing your luck.

Specific knowledge of the 4th age is almost non-existent, unless you're a dragon or immortal elf that's been around since those times. It's known that there were elven and orcish cultures, but aside from that there's next to nothing known.

Still, you could have him uncover an alchera that dated back to that time, get bushwhacked by a rival working for the Atlantean Foundation or one of the dragons, then have his name dragged through the mud by that rival so that nobody believes him. Would be easiest for me if it was a description per specific spell (copypasta's fine between spells, just a matter of how shit's stored), but that's the general idea. Essentially I'd have it show those notes as a tooltip, then populate them into the default notes for the spell. Personally I just copy the spell text into the notes field once I've selected 'em, but that doesn't super help with finding them in the first place.
>>47399698
I'd suggest discussing it with your GM. If he's interested in that sort of high-stakes campaign, have him discover something major like the Horrors, or the location of an intact kaer, or proof that one of the immortal elves isn't actually a prince.

If your GM allows it, you can always refluff normal cyberarms. Pay the same amount of Essence and nuyen (for the cost of making them work on a human body) and roll with it. If there are no crunch differences and you have a reasonable amount of B/R skills, it'd be a rare GM who had a problem with it looking like a drone arm. You could even take a flaw or two to denote the snags of implanting it or its lack of sensation (if you want to do that).
I can't see why your GM wouldn't allow this, though of course there's always someone out there who interprets RAW completely literally and won't allow anything else.

So it's not actually connected to the body, it's just strapped onto a framework holding it in place?

Can you use a control rig to control a drone without being jumped into said drone? It comes with a free datajack, they could plug the arm in directly and direct it to move without actually getting the feedback.
>>
>>47404088

If it wasn't actually connected to the body, then there wouldn't be Essence loss, so I'd still wire it through the nervous system.

In my mind the Omegaware downside would be that anything done with that since the arm doesn't provide sensory feedback, the user would suffer the downside of the Reduced Sense (Touch) quality (or perhaps a more intense equivalent) for actions done with that arm.

Alternatively, there's really nothing saying that couldn't add those systems to a drone arm, and if you just want the aesthetic all you have to do is say that your Obvious cyberarm looks like it came from a drone. Maybe get it at Used to represent it was cheap and not exactly fit for human implantation.

On the topic of your post, if you strapped a drone to yourself but didn't jump in, then any action you needed that arm/drone to do would require a Control Device action instead of just doing the thing. Also, anything you did with it would act on the arm's Initiative rather than your own.
>>
>>47404203
You could say that it was mounted onto the skeletal structure (for the essence), but that because drone arms don't have the right connections for nervous systems that there's no feedback.
>>
>>47404314

Yeah, that'd work too.
>>
>>47404314
Maybe only part of it. Drones would have a rudimentary touch sense, just to tell them when they are actually grasping an item.
>>
>>47404314
>drone arms don't have the right connections for nervous systems that there's no feedback
'What is rigging?'

Of course done arms have the capacity for neural feedback.
>>
>>47404485
But not without some third-party device like a control rig or RCC that converts the drone's senses into nervous system signals. The limbs themselves don't have the right connections to attach to metahuman nerve endings, because they were never designed for that.
>>
>>47404485
Not by default. Rigger 5.0 pg. 125:

>DRONE ARM
>Similar to a cyberarm, a drone arm is much cheaper due to the lack of flesh-chrome connections and sensory translation.

rolling my first melee phys ad, question:

>which would be better: berserk + berserker's rage or attribute boost (bod, str, agi, and rea) lvl 2 each?

the berserker's rage grants a static +2 bonus, whereas the attribute boost would average at least 2 hits (magic 6 + lvl 2 = 8 dice)

the berserker's rage is a complex action, but grants all the bonuses in one action

the attribute boosts would have to be activated individually, they're simple actions, but would only get one attribute each

the berserker's rage has negatives to mental attributes which nets no effect on initiative and actually negatively affects full defense (assuming it uses willpower) whereas attribute does not

does anyone have input here? i can't make up my mind which would be better

>>
>>47412172
Build as a sammy with good reaction and bike skills.
Riggers are wasted on motorcycle gangs.

I'd prioritise attributes.
Skills are great and all, but I don't see that kind of character either being too skilled, or too widely proficient.
>>
>>47412147
If you can spring for Agile Defender, Berserker's Rage loses the Full Defense malus. Even if you can't, it's definitely more initiate/turn friendly, and does let you max out your boosted Reflexes if you have two ranks of Improved Reflexes. (And you eventually should, even if it's IR1 and the second level via a level 4 Qi Focus.)

In terms of drain, the boosts are superior. And if you have some other powers that also roll or rely on Magic, you may be able to get better mileage out of a rating 1 or 2 Power Focus and keeping the Boosts at 1.

Although if you don't have great initiative, then you're probably going to want to carefully choose which boosts you activate.

With only one vehicle, the reason for getting something like a control rig is if it's some Bond shit with mounted guns and gottagofast as the main goal. For a bike, a control rig just means you can't wield a monowhip as you race through traffic, which is obviously unacceptable.

And it's smarter to have generally high attributes and a respectable 3-4 rating in a bike to start.
>>
>>47412172
Just remember that you want to be able to regularly take two passes. One so that you can control your bike, and one (or more) to fight with.
>>
Suppose I wanted to make a silent hill type of campaign. Is there any place in lore that would work good for that kind of approach? I was going to do it in call of cthulau, but I dunno, I figure it might have more impact of the spoops happen in a system you usually have more power in.
>>
>>47413238
You might do better by setting up a regular shadowrun campaign and then they take a wetwork run that goes majorly tits up and suddenly you're in *insert homebrew city silent hill esque city*.

however, >>47413065 could you elaborate on the "regularly take two passes" bit? sorry im still just getting into the game.
>>
>>47413889
Not that anon, but in SR initiative is determined through a series of 'passes' in a combat turn.

Basically you roll your Initiative, and you go from the highest to the lowest score. Then everyone subtracts 10 from their score, and people who still have a positive number can go again, from highest to lowest. Continue until everyone has 0 or less.

For a Street Samurai, it's critical to have multiple passes in a turn, because that's what makes you a killing badass. In turn, that means that, on average, you need to have an average initiative greater than 10, so that on average you're taking at least two passes a turn.
>>
>>47413889
That anon, but first I want to thank >>47413963 for getting the first half of the answer out for me. Thanks.

And now to add on, I mentioned two because to ride in combat you need to not fail a Pilot Groundcraft roll in one of your passes each combat turn or you (probably) crash. That one roll will cover you for the whole combat turn in most cases.

She cashed out of her stake in her bodyguard business and used the money for WR3 and to hire the best goons at said business to help her hunt me down and do terrible things to my bits with her hand razors.

So pretty far, I'd say.

The 5e Core book (P 143) describes the binding skill as:
>Binding is used to compel a summoned spirit to perform a number of additional services. See Binding, p. 300.
However, that page and the following only list the check for binding as
>Opposed Summoning + Magic [Force] v. spirit’s Force x 2
instead. I assume the p.300 one is a misprint, but can anyone confirm?

Hey guys, playing shadowrun for the first time, making an in/out character that I'll occaisionally play with some guys when I'm not working/volunteering. I'm kinda thinking of an elf bartender who sometimes follows the main party on adventures (when I'm playing) and can be an npc when I'm not around, as he bartends and stuff, and is good with shotguns and social stuff when he IS around. Anyways, is this a good concept? I'm honestly not too sure where to go here.
>>
>>47415105
It says binding in the reprint. So it probably has it somewhere in the errata.
>>
>>47415148
In SR there really isn't a bad concept frankly. It's mostly about the execution.

Yes, run with your concept.

That's fine. Get the Day Job (40 hours) Negative Quality; it explains where the character is all the time (sorry guys, working a swing shift at the bar, can't go out criming this weekend), it gives you a steady income to represent that commitment (that you can use to buy shit so you don't fall super-far behind the other characters) and it gets you 15 karma out the gate to use on other things.

Side note, make the character a mundane rather than Awakened. You won't get the flow of karma necessary to make a mage or adept really shine, but with 5k¥ a month you can save up and buy some cool toys.

So I need a little help here guys.

So me and my group (wife and her cuckold husband, a really masochistic girl, a ex-army guy that is very dominant and me a crossdressing girlyboy) want me to run a "magical realm" type of game in shadowrun.

Now I am familiar with all the rules but they never touched the game. So what is some good advice for helping new people understand the rules other than telling them "this isn't d&d stop assuming rules".

Also if anybody knows some good magical realm mission ideas, that would be appreciated. Thinking of using some ideas from taimanin asagi cause that is vaguely shadowrun. Cyberpunky with magic orcs and biotech

I guess my advice would be, in descending order,

>Jesus Christ

>Go to the pastebin, there's a lot of player aids there. Use the Hayek Sheets, and read the advice PDFs

>Set a level of minmax, because things can vary wildly. 12 dice in your primary action, between your Attribute, Skill, and bonus modifiers, usually works fine

>Bunraku parlours are the most obvious magical realm stuff- girls (or boys) with chips in their heads that give them different personalities. Pseudo-illegal, depending on where you are. You know, because of the implications.

>Remind them to use their time and non-combat skills. It's not dungeon diving, you can meet the guy who delivers coffee to the 4th floor at a bar and ask him what the layout is like. The more legwork you do, the easier the dangerous part of the run.

>Your boners are going to drown in d6 pools and tables, and you will deserve it.

>>

assualt

It could be both. Depends on how and who you're breaking bits off of.
>>
>>47415723
Rando walking down the street, slice them off with an edged weapon with no tissue involvement.
>>
>>47415733
If they have a SIN and you don't, it's probably assault with a deadly weapon, damaging property, theft, and whatever else the local PD corp feels like tacking on.

If neither of you have a SIN, then it may not be taking place in a location where a PD would be (normally) working, so it's not a crime but any friends the guy has are going to be targeting you.

And if you somehow have a SIN and they don't, you're probably getting off with property damage and reckless endangerment. Gonna have to be brought in and booked, though.
>>
>>47415762
What if you both have one?
>>
>>47415733
That's definitely assault, if only because the law doesn't allow you to say "I just shot the cell-phone out of his hand, it was property damage and not assault!"

There's currently cases like 'Mr. Collins', a veteran using a MAD (one of those wheelchairs for quadrapalegics), who had his MAD damaged by an airline, which went down as property damage.

Steal prototype cybergenitalia

Spend a week bodyguarding an exotic SURGE prostitute or simsense star

Destroy/leak/steal the working copies of a simsense porn company's upcoming masterpiece

Anything involving a bunraku parlor

A recurring Mr./Ms. Johnson who prefers to meet at the weirdest strip/sex clubs s/he can find

A VR sex program has developed into a sentient AI and wants to be extracted

Follow a local scuzzy politician and get evidence of infidelity

Panty Raid! Mr. Johnson wants the used underwear of his favorite celebrity

Tarnish the reputation of a local fetish club, by any means necessary

Steal a shipment of sex drones; they're defective and become active in the middle of the run

Liberate a mad biosculptor's 'sexperiments'

Stop a half-mad mage who's been using spirits to molest people
>>
>>47415871

Literally did that in a run. Wasn't magical realm at all.

Run went damn smooth too. I was the party face so I ended up planning most of it. The GM was pissed at us because it went too smoothly.
>>
>>47415883
>Wasn't magical realm at all.

Oftentimes the differentiation between magical realm and not magical realm is simply where the descriptive emphasis is placed.

The bulk of those ideas can be completely non-magical realm depending on how you frame them.

>>47418389
>Would a street doc work out well on a team?

As a contact or NPC sidekick, 200% yes. But as a PC, less so.

First, a doc's advanced medical skills are mostly wasted while on a run, unless shit happens real hard. (Or investigations like in SR: Hong Kong where Racter can determine it wasn't torture, but that the Elder got beheaded first and the dead body cut up afterwards.) Unless your GM is really generous, you won't have time to salvage cyberware/bioware from bodies while on a run in most cases; assuming you kill in the first place.

Lastly, there's the question why a skilled doctor, who can make money/favors easily patching people up relatively safely, would go on the much more dangerous business of running.

Should point out that you need to split your dice pool to do that, but it does mean you don't have to worry about recoil, which is nice.
>>
>>47419783
Hm... honestly if you're thinking on that line, you might want to consider chatting with your GM and fellow players. Though, I think you might be looking at it slightly wrong. Part of what makes an RPG good is working with a team and making shit happen.
Got any more context? Like what team you're playing with, why they're basically dead weight, etc.
>>
>>47419812
I think you only split your pool if you're actually making two attacks in a single simple action.
>>
>>47419889
You can't make two Attack actions in a single turn. Multiple Attacks is the only exception to this (Acting as a modifier on the type of attack action you're making), which then requires splitting the pool.
>During his Action Phase, a character may take two Simple Actions, though only one can be an attack action.
>A character may also take a Free Action with the two Simple Actions.
>>
>>47419889

>>
>>47420108
I hate to answer like this; but it really depends on how hard your GM is on making you work to maintain contacts.

If he's rather permissive/generous with (re) gaining loyalty, then a bunch of helpful guys complementing one another. If he's harsh, then a couple of really loyal contacts that won't disappear at the first loss of loyalty are better.
>>
>>47420108
Depends on what contacts the others have
Generally I'd say that high connection and heavily used contacts get higher loyalty due to it allowing you to get better stuff or stuff cheaper
