If Terry Collins wanted memes, why didn't he bring along Joe Maddon as a coach for the ASG
>His team doesn't have the best record in baseball
>>69375625
thanks for stripping that title from the Cubs.
I don't even mind that this is a down year and we'll likely miss the playoffs, as long as I get to watch the Cubs choke in hilarious fashion and get to watch the reds lose 100 games, the season is a success

The Giants lineup has been mostly Rivercats for weeks now and they've still become the best team in baseball
>>69375665
good thing you don't mind missing the playoffs, cause with an aging roster like that, you're gonna have to get used to it
>>69375689

the most embarrassing of all
We'll take care of the Giants come September and October. You may not remember, but the Cubs also struggled around this time last year and eventually feel out of the playoff picture for a day. Then we swept our way past the Giants into the 2nd WC spot
Can Matt Harvey take legal action against Terry Collins and that mentally ill Dan Warthen for making pitch?
>Cubs innning in October
>>69375856
Probably not when he pretended there was nothing wrong with him
>>69375856
>Harvey and Boras ask the Mest to limit his innings
>Mest say fuck it and use him heavily all the way till the World Series (where he blew it)
yet we surprised that he developed a long term injury
>>69375900
if only there were warning signs the Mest could have seen, like decreased velocity or an elevated ERA
>>69375789
So you're saying it's some great accomplishment that the vagiants are leading the NL west, a truly competitive division this season?
Scherzer in, Strasburg out
better than fucking Bartolo Colon, but seriously, where's Pomeranz
>>69375856
He's literally the Matt Hasselback of MLB.

>"I want the ball"

>>69376011
who the fuck cares?
Harvey's career is done.
It's a real shame because hes obviously the only one who could have challenged Kershaw as best pitcher.
>>69376030
I do, fuck you
>>69376011
Padres fans cease to exist after opening day, so that's probably why he's not in
>>69376011
Pomeranz has fallen hard since his good start
>>69376050
yeah ok
>>69376050
he's still the lowest ERA of any non-All Star in baseball right now

>All the smaller writers who cover this type of stuff for my are mega cucks who are instead tweeting about how blacks should have the right to kill police officers free of consequence
For fucks sake I just want to see muh prospects
Dumbass here
What exactly is Tommy Johns surgery and why is it so popular in pitchers?
>>69376083
Isn't there always going to be someone who has the lowest ERA of any non-All Star in baseball?
Logically speaking, there has to be someone who has the lowest ERA among those that didn't get in.
>>69376110
there are ligaments in the elbow that pretty much attach the whole arm's muscles together
pitchers tend to wear out and tear those ligaments all together and need them repaired or even replaced
>>69376011
>Scherzer in, Strasburg out
>>69376128
yes, but that guy shouldn't be twice passed over when an injury replacement is needed
>>69376128
...yeah...
>>69376128
Pomeranz is better than Colon and better than all but maybe 8-10 NL pitchers in 2016.
He's an all-star
>>69375789
WHATTUP BLACK PHILLIP
>>69376148
Scherzer was penned as the ASG starter in 2015.
He pitched 7 innings a couple days before.
Greinke gets the start and Kershaw gets added to the roster by Bochy.
That's what a capable person does.
>>69376168
>better than all but maybe 8-10 NL pitchers
not that impressive tbqh
if you're a starting pitcher and you haven't been good enough to get the start, then you should honestly just spend the week with your family at home
Kershaw hasn't been replaced yet, right?
>>69376202
Scherzer is defensible, but Colon is not
>>69376207
Kershaw is one of the greatest pitchers to ever live and wouldn't have been an all-star in 2015.
He's probably not good enough either huh?
>>69376207
He has the sixth lowest ERA in the National leaguer 2.47, fourth lowest amongst players who will pitch in the NL. If you don't think he's an all star you're an idiot
>>69376306
Its probably the same autist who claimed Quintana wasn't good enough to make the ASG.
>>69376270
Didn't he get the loss in the 2015 All Star Game? LMAO
Kind of offsets your point
>>69376357
Did he finish the season with 300+ strikeouts and a 2.1 ERA with a sub 2 FIP?
Kind of offsets whatever you're trying to imply.
>>69376408
He actually finished the season losing the NLDS again
>>69376357
And Price got the win for the AL.
LMAO
What exactly is your point retard?
>>69376428

>>69376428

>>69376487
>>69376466
>>69376428
Ironically his game 4 performance was the final dominant outing we saw from a NL pitcher for the remainder of the season.
>>69376510
I know, I was just trying to be a smartass
Kershaw wins MVP and Cy Young.
Who else is even in the conversation?
>>69376563
Probably someone without a broken back
>>69376563
Retards will say bumgarner but his numbers look like shit side-by-side. He takes cy young easily and if he comes back strong from the DL he takes MVP as well.
>>69376110
Pitchers wear out a tendon in their throwing elbow due to the unnatural strain that pitching puts on their arm. Tommy John surgery takes a tendon from your wrist (hold your palm upward and flex your hand toward you. Those tendons you see in your wrist are the ones used) and replaces the blown out tendon. It usually takes a long period of recovery time for the pitcher to return to pitching.
The procedure has gotten much better in the past decade and you can see pitchers coming back stronger than before their injuries.
>>69376689
Nobody would say Bumgarner is Cy Young, especially not MVP you fucking idiot. Kershaw won't win MVP, but the only way Kershaw doesn't win Cy Young is if he misses the rest of the season

I train with Pilates in the offseason and in-season on a daily basis. Pilates gets my body into a position where I'm activated, I'm loose and I'm ready to go as soon as I step out onto the field. It aids my warm-up process; it gets me much more ready for the day of activity than any other type of warm-up ever has. And the amount of core strength that I've built with Pilates and hamstring strength and hip mobility and mobility in my shoulders and my spine -- those are all things that directly correlate with what I have to do on the field.
I kind of brought Pilates to the Cubs. I went to Ricketts, Jed, Theo, and I told them this is our way to be innovative. In five to 10 years, every clubhouse in baseball is going to be doing this. I think at first a lot of guys were skeptical. But as time has gone by, the amount of guys that are taking part in either a morning routine of Pilates or an afternoon session is pretty high. I'd say there's been 15-20 guys that are actively using Pilates. And they are all seeing the added benefit.

Do you have the hairy ass quote?
>>69380993
My wife says I have a good ass...
I'm extremely hairy. I yell at my dad every time I see him for passing it down. It pretty much connects from the top of my head to my toes with a nice upper-body sweater/track jacket type of thing. My knuckles aren't that hairy, but that's about it.
I'm shaved right now. The chest is good, the back is pretty solidly shaven.
The back hair doesn't get all that long, it's just really thick. So if I don't keep it shaved once a week, it's a problem and it could take two hours. And my wife's got to do it, so it's her problem. I told her we just need to buy a laser hair removal machine because it would take three or four years and probably 50 sessions to get rid of it. So I think a machine would probably pay for itself.

i feel like it isnt too much to ask for them to hit over .200 with RISP
i feel like im entitled to something more than stranding a dozen runners on base in a game or going 2-16 with RISP over 9 innings
YANKEES SUCK
Is travel baseball the way to go now and in the future? High school and little league just doesn't prepare and challenge elite players.
>>69381070
What is copy and paste
im really liking this math/statcast special broadcast in the cubs game
>>69381132
at somepoint someone had to type it out
it didn't just magically appear in someone's pasta folder
>>69381124
Only for hitters. Travel ball will ruin pitchers and they'll need TJS by the time they're 17.
>>69381163
I didn't consider that. I guess that is a lot of stress for the pitchers.
For everyone else though the sheer amount of games and practices is tremendous.
>>69381124
Yeah, it's the only way to stay sharp and compete with players of a higher level if you're trying to actually make baseball your life. I played travel baseball for a few years until I got to high school and didn't make grades to play in high school because I'm a loser. It's fun and everything but I just got burned out from playing pretty much year round for a few years straight
>>69381154
Pretty sure it was printed in a magazine from an interview with Arietta and somebody just copied it from that
>>69381259
From the website I mean
SEA-KC WHERE???
>mfw Mets are actually improving with Fat Harvey gone
>>69381222
How do parents and coaches prevent kids from being burnt out? I imagine there is a high quit rate for travel kids
please no bully, this is how the voters would really vote

>>69381460
I'd put Donaldson over altuve but other than that this is actually a pretty good list.
>>69381399
I don't know, I was more just mentally burned out. It started to feel like a chore after a while. A lot of these kids have psycho sports parents and don't really care if their kids enjoy it because they want their kid to git gud and get a scholarship somewhere or some shit
>>69381460
good list but I think Maeda should finish 3rd over Diaz
>no M's-Royals thread
what's wrong, /sp/ =(
are you burnt out by all the bads news?

Bryant is inferior to Arenado in every metric.
What makes you put him at MVP #2?
Arenado would have 100RBI before the ASG if he was on the Cubs.
>>69381643
because >coors
>Including Daniel Nava's first inning homer heist of Manny Machado, the Orioles have now been robbed of seven longballs this season. According to ESPN Stats & Info, that's five more times than any other team.
Excuse my autism.
Wouldn't this mean the second team to be robbed, would have been robbed 1.4 times, which is impossible? He meant 5 more than the second place team?
>>69381658
Hits more homers on the road than at home. Not to mention Arenado might be an all-time great defensively.
>>69381498
That's unfortunate. I'm glad my parents never pushed to play sports that isn't want to play.
I had the problem where I loved to play the game and would've played it every week of every month if I were good enough for travel.
>>69381688
If there's one thing no one can take away from arenado, it's his god tier defense. He's incredibly good.
>>69381643
keep on telling yourself that...
>>69381643
Bryant is more important to his team than Arenado is to his team
also your claim is untrue, metrics back up Bryant as the much better player and complete package
>>69381688
all the park-adjusted metrics say Bryant is better
>>69381688
>He thinks the Coors meme is just homers
Home: .312/.391/.649
Road: .261/.328/.495
That outfield massively boosts BABIP, stretches singles into doubles, and stretches doubles into triples. The thin air causes breaking stuff to hang half the time, allowing them to tea off on meatballs. No Rockies player should ever be judged by anything but road stats.
