UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>>
>>68254169
It was worth giving Maxwell a shot given his pie chucking and the lack of a non-shit number three at the time.
Doolan had played very well against South African bowlers during warm-up games and his Pakistan selection was just a case of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks in response to a terrible tour along with the aforementioned number 3 problem.
Boland is a fine selection for the touring squad. He only played games last year to search for a world T20 squad, which you WOULD know if you weren't a fucking casual.
>>
>>68254814
Scott Boland was a sore back away from a test cap. Neck yourself.
>>
>>68254169
Why would you list Doolan when there have been far worse selections? (Quiney, >XD, Beer etc)? Doolan was bad but atleast he was coming off a decent Shield season so there was some sort of logic to his selection

>>
>>68255856
>aping krazycivilservant
>trying this hard to force the WABA gimmick

The difference is that NZ has next to no spin options as opposed to the bottomless pit of good fast bowlers in Australia. Hesson has made some mistakes but he's also made quality selections that Marsh has never done (Grant Elliott, Mitchell Santner, WT20 team selection etc).

Fucking jackass.
>>
Mustafizz is very great king of the cricket worlad..he is very dauntless
>>
>>68256860
>that Marsh has never done
SEEEEEEEEEEETHING fucking casual detected. Rod Marsh is the best Australian selector in decades, he is a better selector than Pisson and has made some great calls including

>retaining GOATges when every man and his dog wanted his head after the Ashes
>giving Khawaja a call-up despite coming off injury his Shield record being so-so
>picking Burns as the new opener
>picking Zampa over all the other shitters like Boyce, >XD etc
>keeping faith in Best Marsh (the benefits of this decision WILL be revealed soon)

>as opposed to the bottomless pit of good fast bowlers in Australia
You couldn't be any more clueless if you tried. The four-frontline bowlers (Hazlewood, Starc, Pattinson, Cummins) are great but all are extremely injury prone. At literally no point in the last 5 years have more than 2 of them been fit to play Test cricket at the same time.

Beyond them the bowling is fairly mediocre. Jackson Bird played in Australia's most recent Test and he isnt better than any of Poo Peelands bowlers. Chadd Sayers was unironically in the squad.

Mark Craig playing Test cricket was a disgrace. Even if NZ had no other options (clearly they do, Santner and Sodhi are objectively better), you may aswell just pick an extra batsman or seamer because that idiot is a waste of oxygen. He is a club cricketer masquerading in a Test cap.

What's worse is that Hesson picked him over, and over and over again. And then AGAIN. Rod Marsh learns from his mistakes, Hesson clearly does not.

This is the problem with Mitchell Marsh. His bowling isn't quite good enough to be a specialist bowler, and his batting isn't good enough to be a specialist batsman. You've already got Faulkner and Hastings who are better bowling allrounders, a third bowling allrounder in Marsh is unnecessary.

And in Tests, the top 6 batsmen have to justify their spot in the side on their batting alone. Marsh does not do that.

Marsh is a holding bowler with a tailender's technique. You might as well have Peter Siddle bat at 6.

You LITERALLY cannot Daniel.
A $200 jacket is the upper end of low tier anywhere outside of Poo Peeland.

Honestly though its worth it. Moore Park is a world-class facility. Mahela Jayawardene, the former Sri Lanka captain who sits on the ICC cricket committee, has confirmed that a recommendation has been made to reduce the margin of umpire's call on the Decision Review System (DRS) which would lead to more batsmen being given out lbw.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo after the first day's play of the third Test at Lord's, Jayawardene, who attended the latest meeting last week after being appointed to the ICC cricket committee in May, revealed that the proposal is to reduce the margin by half. If the change is approved, only 25% of the ball would need to be hitting the stumps in order to overturn an on-field not out decision, instead of the current 50%.

kek

India would love to play a test at Perth for those broadcasting shekels. Last time they won a test in Australia was at Perth as well.

The WACA didn't get a test because it's a shithole and no one wants to watch cricket sitting under 40 degree heat with no shelter.

It wasn't a complete road back then.

KEK.

India getting steamrolled in three days at Perth was LITERALLY one of the reasons for the pitch being flattened out
>>
>>68262174
He is LITERALLY correct though. The WACA being shit is completely independent of the pitch and IS the reason the WACA didn't get a Test in '14. The fact they'd rather play infront of nobody in Brisbane says everything.

The WACA pitch is also shit now. Sydney's pitch has been restored, Poorth's has not.
>>
>>68262019
Why dropping Boult over Southee? Southee's been the shitter one

Also I don't really think we need 2 spinners. I know Harare is pretty slow but it'd unironically be better just to treat it as an SA warm up game and try out all our quicks.
>>
>>68262214
It's mostly due to venue size more than anything.

The pitch is shit now because after all the short tests held there CA told them to flatten it out. It hasn't fully recovered since they've still been using new clay and shit, and they've only recently changed over to the old stuff again.

What happened to Faulkner lads?
>>
I quite like Woakes actually. He gets a lot of shit for getting picked ahead of other people but he seems like a nice bloke who just hasn't been given enough shots to prove himself.
>>
>>68263412
his FC batting average is 37 and bowling average is 25, he's clearly shown he deserves chances. he bowled well enough in the last test to get in the team ahead of finn now imo unless finn does really well this test and woakes goes to shit again. he probably balances the team well enough for >us to use moeen at 7 as well if we need to, someone with a first class average of 37 at 8 is pretty good
>>
>>68263412
He made a good case for himself last game tbqh
>>
>>68263457
And regardless of what actually happens, it's another nail in the Mark Wood coffin
>>
>>68263554
I was thinking this but Finn's been a little bit off-colour. I originally thought Finn had killed Wood's chances of regaining an immediate spot but he hasn't done too well recently. Really depends on how Wood returns in terms of his pace.

I'm not really sure Woakes is better than Wood as a pure bowler though, and it's not as if England need any more batting.
>>
>>68263554
he's ridiculously injury prone, he made his first class debut 5 years ago and he's only played 30 first class games, so he's averaging 5 a year. he's never going to be able to complete a full english test summer without damaging himself in some way
>>
>>68263386
One trick pony and teams figured out how to neutralise his one trick

He needs to learn another trick or he will stay shit. I quite like him, think he could come again. Should play as a bowler alone in England for the 2019 CWC. Easy to forget he was still the 2nd best bowler after Hastings over the summer in boreDI's.

>>68263457
jack of all trades, master of nothing, exactly like Faulkner who I was just discussing

Alright England XI vs Pakistan assuming Stokes is fit again

Cook
Hales
Root
Borthwick
Bairstow
Cuckfield, but could replace him too if we're being harsh
Stokes
Ali
Broad
Finn
Anderson

I'm not a fan of sticking Mo at 8 but someone's got to go there, and Stokes has been demonstrably shit there in the past.

Root
Bairstow (wk)

Not really sure that's necessary, you'd be better off plucking some super green upcoming batsman and sticking him at 7 for no reason other than to get him some test experience. Dan Lawrence?

Cook
Literally anyone but Fales. I don't know anything about Engish domestic cricket so I'll pick an Australian: Robson
Root
Bitchstow
Bell
Buttler (wk)
Strokes
Allah
Bread
Finn
Blanderson
>>
>>68263659
woakes is a bit quicker than fuckner tho, which is why their willing to persist with him. he's moved the ball slightly later this year in the first game game supposedly rather than just from the arm and that means he's going to get a lot more wickets in tests than he has done. I think he could end up at 7 batting wise as well for england, he's a lot tighter technically than moeen and doesn't give his wicket away unlike ali does sometimes with his airy drives
>>
>>68263801
>>68263807
>LE FUG LE ALEX FAILS XDXDXDXDDX

He is LITERALLY averaging 50 this series. I know you hate him with a raging passion but there is NO fucking way you can drop a guy who isn't really doing anything wrong. He's done better than both Root and Cook.
>>
>>68263832
Whoops didn't mean to quote both

I kinda agree but is it really worth a full spot? They could use the surplus batsman to their advantage and just use Buttler as a specialist keeper, like I said here >>68263799
>>
>it's an england's unnecessarily stacked tail bail out their top order episode
>>
>>68263807
>ian bell back in the team
kek
they have two options with what they want to do selection wise now, as the selectors are generally conserative, like a long batting line up and tend to give batters two series before getting rid
>a:
Cook
Hales
Root
Borthwick
Vince
Bairstow
Stokes
Ali
Woakes/Finn
Broad
Anderson
>b:
Cook
Hales
Borthwick
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Ali
Woakes
Broad
Finn
Anderson
they seem obsessed with keeping root at 4 even though your best batter should be at 3, blooding borthwick at 3 seems dumb when you can stick him at 4 rather than exposing him to the new ball in the first couple of overs potentially in his first test rather than a man averaging 50 and ranked #2 in batting in world cricket. for me stokes, woakes and ali in some order are good enough to bat 6,7,8 even if stokes is a bit shit or bust and goes long periods without a score, you've got to get him in the team somehow. also the lower you put stokes down the order the more and more he seem so implode so you've kinda got to put him higher
>>
>Woakes' test average is now higher than Compton
>>
>>68263817
pace isn't that relevant in England otherwise Bitchwide wouldn't have been complete trash like he was

Fuckner is, ironically, as good a bowler in English conditions as Hoakes. Fuckner averages like 23-24 in FC cricket because Tasmania were rolling out rank green seamers for a few years and he basically mastered bowling on those along with Jackson Bird. But Fuckner isn't even considered for Test selection because he lacks any outstanding skill that would make him a threat at Test level (be it pace, height/bounce, control over swing/seam). Woakes falls into the same category imo.

Woakes is quickish in the low 140's the last time I saw him but the ball coming out of the hand doesn't do much.

That all said, I'd pick Woakes ahead of Blanderson in Australia in a heartbeat
>>
>>68263863
it's been like this for ages now, used to be even more fun when broad as an actual batter and swann used to come in and have a biff, guaranteed 100 runs in no time at all with non-shit prior at one end and one of those two at the other
>>
>>68263850
It is when Bairstow ruins big wickets like ABDV and Mathews regularly and you're batting down to 8/9 anyway.
Bairstow is a good batsman and I'd much rather see him focus on that then be dragged down by a shared focus on keeping. I've said this before, but I still feel like Buttler will make it in test cricket, and I don't think the team is calling out for him to do it just yet anyway with the batting depth they have
>>
>batviz

What is this sick new meme

Is this the new version of Caltex Techron Power Rating™?
>>
>>68263953
Yeah. I would say it's worth keeping Bairstow on if it was any other team, but the fact that England HAVE to play an accomplished batsman at 8 pretty much no matter what means they could put Buttler there, no pressure if he fails.

Wood will literally never play more than 3 tests in a row so Woakes and Finn will always be around.

England are just going to have to be wise about when they pick Wood. At this rate they might be best off keeping him as an Australia/SA specialist, with Woakes doing duty in home tests, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

>>
>>68264206
Reminder Kikeal Cuck literally cost them the Ashes by batting first at Edgbaston.

If he'd sent England in and had them at 90/5 it would have quickly scared them off the possibility of preparing a paddock at Trent Bridge. But he fell for the classic >LE BAT LE FIRST AGGRESSION XDXDXD meme and ruined his team's series and his own career in the process.

The Ashes loss and Phil Hughes' death were singlehandedly his own fault. Hughes was sick the day of his death and only played out of desperation. Hughes would have been selected anyways had Clarke not been such an edgy gloryhunting faggot.
