Through the dumpster fire as the final flames burn out of the organization the phoenix will burn as bright as the days with Montana and Young but this time the phoenix will go by the name of Blaine Gabbert

It's happening folks, through trial tribunes of today Gabbert will become the god card next season

Expect him to be the best QB after Mariota

Tbh they're both playing better than expected.
>>
>>63982552
It wouldn't have helped in this case anyways because it happened after the two-minute warning.
>>
>>63982552
They should just stop doing the super slow-motion close up replays from all angles that fuel all the arguments about calls that are made by a couple of refs in real time while they're watching for a hundred other things.

They should only do it on plays that are being reviewed in similar detail by the people who can actually change the calls.
>>
>>63982566
What will paying refs more accomplish? It won't attract better refs, because NFL refs work their way up from the lower levels of football, so they would still have to endure 10+ years of getting paid jack shit. The NFL already has the best refs available.

If you want more accurate calls, replace the refs with 10 guys monitoring every area of the field from the booth, and just have a ball boy spot the ball via electronic sensors.
>>
>>63982618
How the fuck is Mariota playing better than expected? He sucks dick. Crab Legs does too.

>>63982604
>6. Tyrod Taylor
>13. Brock Osweiler

Intradesting.
>>
>>63982628
>What will paying refs more accomplish?
You realize all the issues we have now is because of this right?

Here's a fun fact:

In the last two years, 23 new refs have been introduced (thereby others being replaced)

Prior to that, within a span of 7 years, only 17 had been introduced/replaced

The refs are not nearly as dedicated to the craft as they should be. They are part-timers and many of them are new to league.

Hell, the best ref crew in the league (Gene Steratore's) is led by a guy who refs Big 10 Basketball games for Christ sake.

The NFL takes owner Jew-ery to a whole new level.
>>
>>63982630
What are you talking about? For rookie QBs on bad teams they're both playing well. What did you expect, that they'd step in and be Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees right away?
>>
>>63982647
>You realize all the issues we have now is because of this right?
I literally just explained why this is incorrect RIGHT after the sentence you quoted.

>In the last two years, 23 new refs have been introduced (thereby others being replaced)
>Prior to that, within a span of 7 years, only 17 had been introduced/replaced
Okay? What is your point? That they're too inexperienced? Then how are they supposed to replace current crop of allegedly bad refs?

>The refs are not nearly as dedicated to the craft as they should be. They are part-timers and many of them are new to league.
What would be the point of this? They're already essentially full time in-season, and they do seminars and stuff in the off-season. They already break down every game. What more can they do, get paid to rewatch the same film?
>>
>50 super bowls will have gone by and the Browns, the Bengals, and the Bills will still have none of them
>>
>>63982690
You missed the point.

The refs who were replaced werent bad.

They left the league after realizing that the tax pensions in the referee deal absolutely buttfucks them

They all took the money in ran

So now we have inexperienced new refs who dont take the craft seriously nor have enough experience to ref well
>>
>>63982699
Browns and Lions are on another (lower) level than Bills and Bengals. Bills have been to 4 owls and the Bengals have been to 2 and didn't even exist for the first 2 owls. Browns and Lions predate the owl and have never even played in one.
>>
>>63982724
>who dont take the craft seriously
What are you basing this on? They work well over full-time in-season, I doubt you'd ever consider spending a similar amount in your cubicle on any given week.
>>
Did something happen to the 49ers recently that I don't know about?
>>
>>63982745

They're the best available, since you can be arsed to leave the basement and show 'em how it's done. And fwiw their error rate isn't any higher than normal, you're just hearing about them more.

>>
>>63982812
>Now you're just speaking out your ass.
Actually no, I looked it up. But given that I you don't have any documentation of your own, I'd say it's you speaking out of your ass.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2015/12/02/referees-officiating-dean-blandino-refs/76687956/
>Dean Blandino, the NFL’s vice president of officiating, said the number of referee mistakes is on par with recent years – with an average of 4.5 mistakes per game through the first 11 weeks of this season. Blandino’s staff is still evaluating all of the calls from last weekend’s games.

If you've been breaking down every game and keeping track, I'd love to see your findings. Otherwise, you can stop with the "muh team got skrewwed, refs r fuggin fags" shit.

Better ranking

1. That entire play. It had an illegal hit to the helmet, an offsides, and a ball carrier go out of bounds and then back in

2. The second half of Pats-Broncos, and some of the strangest penalty calls and non-calls I've seen out of "professional" refs

3. The entire 49ers/Cards game

4. The entire Steelers/Seahawks game

Sure, blown calls are going to happen, and good teams can compensate, but there's only so much a team can do when the refs are consistently making phantom calls

It's not a penalty just because some tiny part of your hand happens to touch the tip of someone else's mask. The refs got it wrong. different anon;

I honestly don't blame the refs. It's the reviewing policies that are ruining the game. I think it's crazy that, despite all the technology we have, we still expect refs to use the eyeball test when decided petty penalties, despite how chaotic football is and how much is going on at once. Umpires in baseball are really good at making the correct call with their eyes, but usually they only have to observe one thing, like whether the player hits the plate before the ball arrives. They use the same philosophy in football, except it doesn't work because there's just to much shit going on and sometimes they don't have a good angle to see it. I know people don't want to lengthen the game by reviewing penalties, but it's probably the only way to ensure fair calls are actually made.

The NFL can say things like that all day, but show me their sources of how many penalties refs have had over the past few seasons. How can they quantify how many calls constitutes "on par"? There wasn't refball.
Broncos are the leaders in sacks and have less than 0.5 holding calls for them per game.
Teams commit an average of 1.2 of those per game.
I saw 2 not called in a 10 play spam.
That game was bad all around.
Only really wrong call was the Gronk OPI,rest was just doubtful.
>>
If the NFL is not rigged then why did they move the authority to change calls on replay to the NFL headquarters in new york, instead of keeping them with the on-site replay official?
>>
>>63983590

If we're going to play that game let's just look at it from the lens of the entire game, and every "controversial" call that can decide the course of the rest of the game

you realize the team is in a worse situation than last year, and will likely go into further upheaval in the coming offseason right? this shit is going to be awful every single year for a while and top 5 draft picks won't save us, unless we magically luck into a good coach that re-rails the team again, but that's still a band-aid for the long term future of the team. until york is out, our final destination will always be the cellar and we will keep heading back there sooner rather than later.

to be fair, that was before I really realized just how awful York was. dunno about the others. york only took over in 2008 so I put most of the pre-harbaugh blame on singletary, and when he promoted baalke to GM in 2011 who then picked up harbaugh I figured he just might be a decent owner after all.

now that I'm wise to his bullshit, it's going to be a lot harder for him to fool me with misdirection or shifting blame. when people look to answer the question "why are the 49ers still bad again this year?" the first place they should look is Yod Jerk.

What's the deal with refs this season? The past 6-7 weeks have been absolutely atrocious.

I have never seen this many blown/missed calls. Hell, even the replacement refs were better than this.

Also, why the fuck doesn't the nfl give coaches the ability to challenge any penalty on the field? Who gives a fuck if it's a judgement call, if it's wrong it's wrong.

They fucking break down every game, every week you mong. Not just the league, every single fucking crew does it too.

>How can they quantify how many calls constitutes "on par"?
Because they track it over the course of years.

I don't think Elias keeps records of the number of penalties, much less anyone else at this point.
Of course they do, as does PFF and other sites like that.

>At the very least, there have been an above average amount on high profile bad calls/no-calls this year

Travis Lewis is coming along as decent depth. Travis Swanson is our starting Center and seems like he's gonna be on the team for awhile. It's been bad but I wouldnt go as far as to say worst in the league. Mayhew was real hit and miss but he brought in Levy, Suh, Ziggy Ansah Sam Martin and Larry Warford who are all great players. He was pretty good in FA too bringing in Tate, Glover Quin, Rashean Mathis and Haloti Ngata but he was horrible at handling contracts. Just hoping the new GM isnt worse than Mayhew.

So how many of you dumb kucks legitimately think aaron rodgers is the best quarterback in football and how many of you just claim he is so you don't have to give that honor to the quarterback who is actually the best?

Negros in particular seem unable to come to terms with the reality, which is that Tom Brady has had more success and won more rings at quarterback than the entire black race.

Lil bit delusional friend. Chip is in some shit and there's not much he can do this season to salvage it. Reviving RG Busted Knee would be like Dr. Frankenstein creating the monster

I really don't understand people who say that teams are going to be eager to pick up RG3 once he's released.

If a team wants a meme-QB Kaepernick will be available, why would they pick RG3 over him?
>>
>>63987594
I'd definitely take Kaepernick over Bobby Three Sticks. He's got dat cannon plus he's not really injury prone. Shit, if it wasn't for Teddy Two Gloves I'd take him

"No."

They will both get picked up in the offseason, unless they're too proud to take a massive paycut, in which case they'll be out of a job in the League. Hope that doesn't happen to Kaepernick, not really his fault SF imploded.

But then he WOULD be the savior

Better RB, Eric Dickerson or Emmitt Smith?

Kek because the Cowboys suck dick. Bottom of the weakest division in the league

Landry and Benjamin are the only ones from the AFC that pop into my head. All of the good returners that I know of are in the NFC

really not much different than a contract with a high ceiling but almost all in incentives, it's just nuance. it's not like he's going to trigger those performance clauses anyways, one of them required him to play in a super bowl.
