What? Ohio state is not your rival. Fuck off you clingy child. We are only rivals with Michigan, and vice versa.
You shouldn't have beat Michigan. We destroyed Michigan. We played a historically bad game and poor playcalling allowed you to have a fluke win and beat us on a field goal.
Other examples of HOW FUCKING LUCKY sparty has been all year? Rutgers spiking on fourth? Almost losing to fucking purdue? Indiana keeping it close?
Ohio State is objectively a better team and you know it shitposters. Academically, we're superior too.
Have fun getting btfo by Iowa and tOSU sneaking into that fourth spot.

We keep talking about doomsday scenios
Bama losing, Clemson losing. For either Clemson or Michigan State to lose wouldn't surprise me in the least, but what would Florida need to do to even beat Bama? Florida's defense is actually pretty good IMO, so could its offense run on some successful/lucky meme plays? (trick plays, shots down the field, hail marys)?

desu I don't see Florida winning that game in any scenario.
>tfw 5-7 teams will be in bowls this year
>>63961310
>so could its offense run on some successful/lucky meme plays?
Cowherd was talking about this yesterday. He admitted Alabama's front 7 is incredible, but that their efficiency numbers are likely highly inflated by the fact that almost every SEC team has a shit offense. Assuming UF doesn't run the ball 20 times because their run game is shit (>but muh kelvin taylor preseason heisman darkhorse) they could sneak in a couple big-gain plays in their passing game. Yes, their pass offense is shit also, but I'm willing to be McElwain takes a lot of risks on offense this game.
>>63961308
Maybe, but muh rankings are a meme.
I throw teams in at the bottom with the eye test, and teams can only move up by someone in front of them losing ("The whole point of the selection committee was to replace the simplistic horse-race nature of Top 25 polls — where teams only move up if someone above them loses" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_Football_Playoff#Voting_procedure)
But of course, there is a "Game of the week flex" where I can put any team two spots behind another and call it "the game of the week"(Like the CFP with LSU and Bama)
I have mastered the best aspects of polls for my poll, and thus created the only true poll.
Reminder that UCF won 0 (zero) games this season
>>63961327

Even then Florida would really have to meme hard to even score, they might as well through interceptions and get the game overwith cause they are going 3 and out every drive

We're always just a few steps away from really breaking into the next echelon. The three very close Rose Bowl losses, the two hail marys the season we had Russel, the meme ass endings to ASU and Northwestern. Always feels like luck just doesn't away towards Wisconsin like it did in the 90's. The key components are there: fantastic defense, young offense with some room for growth, a new head coach. Seems like we'll just continue to be stuck in an 8 or 9 win range. I've come to accept this, and can sleep well at night knowing that Wisconsin is consistently bowl eligible and competing for the Big Ten West despite a storm of coaching changes in the last few years. I wish we could reach for more, but I'm content with the state of the program. It's odd how schools like Georgia and Nebraska absolutely hate being just good.
>>63961922

>>63961932
I feel ya. It's nice being able to pencil in the Badgers in for a good bowl and at least a 5-6 seed in the tournament every year. Most schools don't get that.
>>63961869
1973 had 4 undefeated teams: Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma tied a 2-loss USC and didn't play any other elite teams that year so they're out. Ohio State and Michigan played to a tie, but the general consensus was that Michigan would go to the Rose Bowl because they largely outplayed aOSU but missed two chipshot FGs and arguably fielded the greatest defense ever at the time. And for people who will say I'm only claiming that because I'm a Michigan homer - I guess Woody Hayes was a Michigan homer as well. MSU voting for aOSU to go to the Rose Bowl because they were coupled with the fact that the "No Repeat Rule" was conveniently lifted the season prior led to aOSU being chosen instead.
As for 1997, just no. Nebraska played 4 ranked teams, Michigan played 7. Michigan also dominated Nebraska in terms of common opponents (+59 point differential opposed to +31). Let's not ignore the fact that Nebraska also played 2-9 Akron and 5-6 UCF that year while Michigan played only P5 teams. So no, Nebraska absolutely did not have the better resume. All of that being said, I'm still fine with Cornhuskers unironically claiming a shared title for 97 because the fact is they were undefeated - it's just non-Cornhuskers trying to meme Michigan out of a championship despite the fact they objectively had a much better resume any way you look at it.
>>63961936
That doesn't help Tech.
No matter how crazy this weekend is, there is literally NO WAY that Ohio State gets into the playoff. The winner of Iowa/MSU gets in. Oklahoma is a lock. If Alabama and Clemson were to lose, Stanford and UNC would take their places in the top 4. Period, end of story. Ohio State has looked good for 1 (one) game this ENTIRE season, and completely dropped the hall the second they played a competent team in Michigan State.
Roll tide.

It's not like if UM was chosen to go to the Rose Bowl, they would have been selected as national champs. Ohio State blew the fuck out of USC, and the AP and coaches still voted in Notre Dame and Alabama respectively. They both played in the Sugar bowl, and I believe they were both undefeated, making that a true title game. Notre Dame would go on to win the game take AP #1, while Alabama would be selected coaches poll #1 before the game, giving them a natty* to add to their current total of 15* natties.
>>63962024
I would be fine with Oklahoma winning another natty. They haven't been quite relevant since 2000, and have only been known for choking. >>63964126
UNC would have 1 (one) more win than OSU, 1 (one) better win than OSU (vs 1 instead of 15), and 1 (one) conference championship (instead of 0)
Clemson would have 2 (two) better wins than OSU (vs 8 and 9 instead of 15), and 1 (one) more overall win, with a tougher SOS
Please explain using objective facts how OSU has a better resume than either of those two.
>>63964150
>UNCheat
>two fcs schools
>losing to SCar
>playing in the ACC Coastal
>Clempson
>Participation trophy
>two teams from the worst conference into the playoffs rather than two teams from the bet conference
>>63964212
oh so youre just a conference troll, which literally does not matter anymore in the playoff era
>>63964150
better loss than UNC
better SOS overall
pass the eye test way better than UNC
both teams dominated illinois, but tOSU didn't go to OT with fucking Va Tech.
the committee KNOWS UNC will be blown out in the semi finals, and KNOWS tOSU will make it to the championship game.
they already made the mistake of letting the ACC champ in last season just to get exposed.
Also they're ranked 10. You're fucking retarded if you think a conf championship will let them jump 6 fucking spots lol
>>63964380
oh god muh better loss. my sides when kekeyes have to rely on this
Even giving your argument any credence, Clemson still has a better resume with a better SOS
>>63964450
I'm going to be laughing when Ohio State squeaks in after Clemson loses to UNCheat and repeats. I /cfb/'s assessment will eb the sorest ever recorded in history.
>>63962333
i want to be like number 34 when i grow up
>>63964487
I still think OSU needs a Stanford loss this weekend, too, before they sneak in anywhere
>>63962399
not saying miami is a blueblood by any stretch but it's unique in the sense that it is a complete bandwagon school
when/if miami is ever as dominant again as it used to be, it'll be just like the 80s and 90s
every kid wanted to play there
every coach wanted to coach there
every person in south florida wanted to be near it
the program and the city has that allure. richt is a step in the right direction, because with him the school should be perennial ACC contenders and backdoor playoff candidates once every 2-4 years. but he won't take them back to the jimmy johnson era.
in a sense i disagree that miami isn't a sleeping giant because the talent in south florida is enough to create a ridiculously good college football team. if richt harnesses that recruiting potential they will be a 10 win team every single year.
but you're going to need a coach like johnson after richt to start being a stupidly dominant school again. i don't think richt will get it there.
but i'd just take an acc championship at this point

Go all the way, soonerbro. You're the real GOAT team, it's time you made than unarguable again.
>Iowa's strength of schedule rank:60
>S-i-x-t-y
>theres 128 FBS teams
Are there people retard enough to believe that if Clemson loses by say 1-3 points. That Clemson will still get the fourth spot assuming Stanford lose as well.
UNC Will not getting into the Playoffs, unless the committee wants to give Bama a bye week.
>>63964849
well bama and stanford then, whatever
point is ohio state can't get in without two non-big 10 teams losing, and one of those teams virtually must be alabama
>>63964910
>8 big ten games

>Iowa's only major motor race is the Iowa CORN Indy 300
>The race is literally sponsored by corn
>halfway through the race every year they bring the President of the Iowa Corn Growers' Association (literally the President of Corn) into the commentary box to talk on live TV about how great corn is for like 30 minutes
Like god damn I get that your state is literally in the middle of fucking nowhere but dont you have anything else?

>As for 1997, just no. Nebraska played 4 ranked teams, Michigan played 7. Michigan also dominated Nebraska in terms of common opponents (+59 point differential opposed to +31). Let's not ignore the fact that Nebraska also played 2-9 Akron and 5-6 UCF that year while Michigan played only P5 teams. So no, Nebraska absolutely did not have the better resume. All of that being said, I'm still fine with Cornhuskers unironically claiming a shared title for 97 because the fact is they were undefeated - it's just non-Cornhuskers trying to meme Michigan out of a championship despite the fact they objectively had a much better resume any way you look at it.

>being this obsessed
Get over it, you lost
>>63965532
How? That would mean the loser of the B1GCG would either have to move up after a loss or not drop at all
YFW the only conference that could actually get two teams in is the ACC
LOL
O
L
SOS is bullshit honestly.
>team A beats 12 6-6 teams
>team B beats 6 11-1 teams and 6 1-11 teams
I know those wouldn't be exactly equal SOS but the point is RELEVANT games are what matters, not whether you played Hawaii or the Richmond Spiders for your OOC.
And by that measure, Iowa's schedule is damn weak, Alabama's is weaker, Ohio State's is average (with a loss to their most relevant opponent), Clemson's is good, Michigan State's and Oklahoma's is excellent
>>63965553
You played three ranked teams, they played five.
You played one top 10 team that you beat by 5, they played two that they beat by 25 and 30.
>>63965553
>>63965693
Also I'm not that guy, nor do I care about either of these teams, nor do I wish the championship had been unanimous one way or the other since both teams had great seasons. But claiming Michigan had a better case is objectively false.
>>63963851
You're right, it'll be a blue blood natty, but it'll be OU-Bama.
>>63963873
With all this salt you must live in Utah.
>>63965741
The only top 5 team alabama can beat is iowa.
>>63961333
I'll take it
>>63965693
We played 7, they played 4.
>>63965737
It's objectively true. More ranked teams, better against common opponents, didn't played 2-9 Akron and 5-6 UCF one year removed from FCS.
>>63961290
>hiring a recruiter to be your head coach

Okay. Ohio State got exceptional play from a retarded 3rd stringer for 3 games last year.
>>63965829
>any program that isn't a blueblood or Tennessee/PSU/Miami
>respectable
Nope
>>63965772
It'll be
1. Clemson
2. Bama
3. Iowa
4. Oklahoma
Bama beats Iowa, OU gets the revenge kill against Clemson.
OU continues cukcing Bama and improves to 4-1 against them.
