It's been pretty much agreed upon that Alabama's schedule is weak, right?

So why are they #1 in most of the computers? checkmate atheists
>>
>>63939305
>this OP
>>
Alabama is shiiiiiiiiiiiit
>>
>>63939305
because they're stats look good on paper, but they haven't beaten a team with less than 3 losses and lost to Ole Miss

the SEC is in for another shitty bowl season because all those mediocre teams that got bowl eligible by playing each other are going to get matched up against decent teams and get murdered.
>>
>>63939724
I hope they play oklahoma and get exposed. Saban can't stop the spread!
>>
>>63939815
both Oklahoma and Clemson are matchup nightmares for Bama, with extremely strong front sevens and good to great secondaries so coker's all sec (aka mediocre) passing abilities will be nullified

they both have mobile qbs that will give their plodding d-line men nightmares of all those wind sprints they didn't do and quality receiving corps to exploit the weak secondary of bama
>>
>>63939861
I can't disagree that Bama doesn't matchup well with them offensively if you look at past games. I have a hard time believing Coker could win the game with his arm a la McCarron, if they can shut down Derek Henry. And these mobile QBs have been Saban's kryptonite.

But you are selling Bama's D FAR short. Their defensive line is not "plodding" at all. Alabama has had difficulty in the past because they have not been able to generate pass rush with 4-- they have been mostly run-stopping specialists. Bama has been forced to play zone and given mobile QBs too much time to find holes and create plays. And when they have played man they haven't been able to get pressure and leave the scramble open. Getting too far downfield and lacking quickness has hurt them.

But Saban has made adjustments. Thias is one of the greatest D-lines of all time, especially considering their depth. They have big bodies and quickness. The LBs also play well in space. But the pressure they can get with just 4 has really helped the secondary this year. They absolutely shut down Dak Prescott and didn't let Harris beat them with his legs, to say nothing of how they adjusted against Auburn. This college defense is the best I have seen in my 27 years, maybe just short of 2011 Bama due to lack of depth in the secondary. But Cyrus Jones can shut down a WR (if he plays the ball) and Saban now has the personell on defense to matchup well with any offensive scheme.

But it will all come down to Coker's arm, and I'm not confident there. He holds it way too long. At least he can shake off hits.
>>
>>63939305
Because the computers all agree that Bama's played the toughest schedule of the top 4
>>
>>63939724
Coker is the worst QB in the west outside of Harris.
He's not all SEC. Your hate boner is funny.
>>
>>63941200
come on now he's better than either of the dudes Auburn's trotted out this year
>>
SEC is going to maul in the bowls this year. This year the only weak west team was Auburn.
>>
>>63941224
I suppose you're right about that.

But he is definitely worse than

>>
>>63939815
>>63939861
>>63940231
Friendly reminder that all the key plamakers on the Oklahoma squad that beat Bama in 2013 are still here, but with arguably the best quarterback in cfb. Saban is praying he doesn't get matched to Oklahoma, since they'd be playing in Dallas which is deep in OU territory.
>>

Alabama is built to beat teams like MSU. When is the last time Alabama lost a slugfest? 2011 LSU I believe. Spread teams are what beat Saban.
>>
>>63947227
>When was was the was the last time Alabama lost a slugfest?
Last year's Sugar Bowl
>>
>>63947035
That faggot King of the SEC will tell you no. But as a Georgia fan who doesn't root for other SEC teams, like the aforementioned faggot, he is an ok hire. Basically, if you're a shit to mediocre team then he'd be a good hire. If you want to just make it to a bowl and win a majority of those bowls then yes he is good. If you expect him to come in and win your team a championship, then your going to be disappointed. Personally, I thought he was good and I liked him as a person, I plan on rooting for whatever team he ends up at. UGA fans are babies.
>>
How come we always bring up the ass beating OU gave to Bama, but no one ever mentions the skull fucking Clemson gave OU?

And also, OSU is a spread team. We basically copied Oregon's meme offense but with better lineman.

I actually had to look through Clemson's recent seasons because I didn't even know what game you were talking about. And who cares about an 8-4 OU vs. 9-3 Clemson? Alabama was 11-1 when OU blew them out (exposed them) so it's more relevant because it shows a quality Stoops team > a quality Saban team

OU didn't have Mayfield for the TCU game, nor Mixon and Perine for large parts of it.

Stidham is better than Russell.

OU outscored, outgained, and defensively played superior to Bama against Tennessee and we played them on the road. We owned you 2 years ago when our team and coaching staff were far worse and your team was far better.

This next one won't be played in the heart of SEC territory either like it was when we did this to you in the final year of the BCS after calling your shit conference overrated.

SEC has not won a NY6 bowl or better since OU played Bama and shattered the myth of SEC superiority.
>>
>>63947323
>why does no one bring up the fact that an OU offense missing its only receiver starting a shit qb that was paralzyed literally a month prior to the game went against a defense that had the entire OU playbook because oh wait their defensive coordinator had been at OU for over a decade and they lost?

I hope we catch Clemson and complete the revenge tour. Clemson lost 8 starters from last years defense and our offense is bran spanking new

No they didn't. Oregon runs primarily the read option and tempo. In that game, they had Cardale at qb, so that limited the qb runs, making the run game smash mouth down the middle with Zeke. They also didn't start to run tempo consistently until this season.

They could possibly make it if Alabama also loses & Iowa wins.

Clemson losing puts in Stanford. Bama losing leaves out the SEC.

Then the choice would be between:
1-loss non champ Ohio State
2-loss non champ Alabama
2-loss non champ Notre Dame
1-loss Champion UNC

If MSU wins, now you have another team in the mix, which is a 1 loss runner up Iowa (which may just take tOSU's spot).

Only one of those teams would have a conference title. Depending if they use the letter of the rules, you could not say any of those others are unequivocally better than UNC.

Pretty bored of the Playoff debate by now. Personally I think only conference champions should be considered (and independents with good resumes); there's no point in others playing. You can't be the best team in the nation if you aren't the best team in your conference. No second chances.

Anyways, What potential Bowl match ups are you guys most excited about? If things go as planned (1. clemp 2. bama 3/4. OU 3/4. Iowa/Mich st), I'm pretty pumped to see Stanford v. Iowa/Mich St./tOSU as well as Notre Dame Iowa/Mich. St./tOSU.

The Sugar Bowl, too, will be fun. I hope the meme 12 twelve can fuck over the SEC once again. It should be Baylor versus Ole Miss, and Ole Miss loves being the most inconsistent team in cfb.
>>
>>63950021
The defense is far different with a better secondary and Mike Stoops in the press box. The offense is also completely different and it could have changed the game entirely if the offense could stay on the field (see OU v TCU. TCU basically got infinite downs because Trevor knight would go 3 and out every time, the defense suffered as a result). In any case, I think OU matches up better against MSU and bama better than against Clemson. It won't be an easy win for clemson, and OU will need to go all out.

Why should any team who can't even win their conference be given a shot? All this resume bullshit is retarded. You aren't the best team in the B1G, so you shouldn't be allowed to try your hand to be best in the nation. Didn't earn it. A 4-loss Conference champ has a better claim than you.
>>
>>63951104

Because conferences are arbitrary, wins are not, retard. There is nothing saying that the conferences are of equal quality, they're not.

Isn't the PAC 12 an "academic" conference? Hopefully you understand the logic. You're just spouting memey platitudes with no substance. The committee has always maintained it is first and foremost about finding the best 4 teams in the FBS, not arbitrarily shoehorning as many conference champs in as possible, it's merely a tiebreaker.
>>
>>63951133
Half academic - Stanford, Cal, UCLA, USC, and Washington are all powerhouses, Colorado and Oregon are good, but the rest are shit. Still better than the SEC and B12, though.

Yes. In it's long and historical run, the committee has showed a true dedication to finding the 4 best teams in the nation.

>>
>>63951133
Finding the best team in the nation is dumb anyways. Bowl games are about seeing match ups between conferences; seeing a rematch is fucking stupid. That LSU bama game was a travesty.

Winning your conference is the cake, natty is just the icing. You can't call it a successful season if you can't even beat your rivals.

By that logic Michigan has one less loss

If he cant shake off hits youre going to really be in trouble. Coker is going to have to throw the ball if he wants to win.

He wont be playing some crap ass Notre Dame or LSU team.
>>
>>63951565
Clemson is a lock with a win against UNC
OU is already a lock
Alabama spills spaghetti and drops from the top 4
Stanford loses and is removed from Contention.
Iowa or MSU are a lock
This leaves one more spot and the next team in line is tOSU. The only other option is ND and I doubt they jump up 4 spots
>>

Well, no he won't. But he will be playing worse teams than the crap ass lsu. The big twelve is a joke.

OSU runs a spread option but most of what they run out of it is power, counter, and draw plays. They don't run any tempo at all and most of their plays are essentially gap blocks. There is nothing complicated about it

Alabama got beat because they played better players and better coaches

This. Passionate fans unconditionally wish pain and suffering upon a rival that not only beat them, but eliminated them from a championship.

"Fans" (read: bandwagoners who sprout due to their local team's recent success) try to make the best out of a season-ending loss and rationalize supporting the other team by saying it's better to lose to the best team in the country than relish seeing them get creamed and denied glory because fuck you, if I can't have it you can't either.
There's respectful rivalries (Nebraska vs. OU, Army-Navy) where you can cheer for your rival depending on the circumstances, and then there's the bottomless chasm of loathing that exists between two academic institutuions, each one willing the other to a season of suffering and sorrow (tOSU vs. Michigan, Florida vs. Fla St., Bama vs. Auburn, Nebraska vs. niggerfuckingLonghorns [fuck Texas]) regardless of how far apart one team may be from the other.

ok I'll be serious for a moment. I was focusing on specific rivalries in college football. For example, I maintain that a passionate fan of Michigan football has a not-insignificant amount of disdain for Ohio State football, especially when it involves Michigan in some way.

I believe one should never root for a rival that one's team lost to in hopes that the rival's success will downplay the severity of that particular loss.

Yeah I'd say this is a good hire if only for >>63955538 (that sweet Georgia recruiting). The main issue with him at Georgia is his inability to go from 9-10 wins a seasons to a natty contender.

At this point da U just needs a competent coach who can deliver that.
>>
>>63955544

The problem is Mississippi State pays him a shitload. Other teams look at his track record and can't justify paying him 4 and a half mil. He probably would take a pay cut just to get out of there since the wheels are starting to fall off now.

He might end up an OC somewhere if he gets fired after next year. He does have a good offensive mind.

He only needs to catch lightning in a bottle once, especially in the Coastal where his biggest challenges are GT, Beamer-less VT, and Duke/North Carolina.

Snyder was trash for his first few years because he was coaching at KANSAS FUCKING STATE, that would be like expecting someone to have immediate success at Kansas if they stepped in right now.
