Professional NEET
Starting my second semester of Junior year
No. Not going for my Master's either.
It's shit, but I have a student org I'm a part of. It's okay.
Do well in classes. Slack off if you can afford to.
My college doesn't provide dorm housing to most seniors, so I'll have to commute 40 minutes each day next year. Kinda looking forward to it.

Being a successful anesthesiologist with my own assistants and what not

If my medicine degree kicks off and this wild ride goes the direction I want it to then I'll make $50-90+ an hour, so no.

I smoke a ton of weed with my circle of four friends along with other drugs. (Some dumb bitch sold me 80 mg Oxycontin's for $10 a pill, even better it was real.)

College is shit, literally just one giant grind every single day. My advice would be just do drugs and always prioritize your assignments above all else.

If you're antisocial like me, find a job or something to do to occupy your time constructively. I was pretty miserable before I had a job and would just wake up, go to class, and come back to my room and sit on the computer until I fell asleep. Forcing myself to be responsible and accountable helped me be less miserable.

Why dude?

I'm just going there because it was the cheapest and closest choice.

I already flunked first year and probably gonna drop out.
But why is it bad, I mean, it is kinda outdated because out curriculum didn't changes since the 80s but everyone here is saying it's the best.

>what degree are you going for?
Chemical Engineering
>what is your dream career?
Want to run my own lab.
>how long have you been going for it?
I spent 3 years at CC in liberal arts, I started with government then switched to philosophy. I had a panic attack and realized I was a pot smoking retard with no ambition and dropped out to wageslave full time for 6 months. During that time I taught myself enough high school maths to go back to CC for 2.5 years, now I'm in my second quarter as a junior at a UC.
>are you going to go for another degree?
I want to get my phd
>how is social life at your college?
There are a lot of clubs and I've met a lot of nerds. I'm too nervous to go to bars, clubs, the gym, or shopping but I'm working on it. I made friends in CC and these are the people I mostly talk to (all nerds)
>any tricks and tips to college?
Get involved in clubs and try to take on some responsibility, it looks good on resumes, teaches you some skills, and can help you meet people. Try hard, classes, hobbies, making friends and meeting people. Try new things but try to develop a palette of likes and dislikes, this is another opportunity to mature (we should have done this in high school).

In the country I live in (eastern Europe) I worked for 8 Euros a day when I was in construction last summer. It took me around 2 Euros to buy a loaf of bread and the cheapest junk salami for breakfast so I had about 6 Euros at the end of the 9 hour shift.

It crushed me because of the nazi in charge, after 3 months I lost 15kg and became a shell of who I was before.

The world isn't just USA.

Scots Law degree, hopefully a masters and PHD in the future

Academia or something related to constiutional law at a thinktank or an NGO that advises on constitutional matters.
>How long
In my 2nd year of the undergrad course. Wanted to do law since 15
>Another degree?
The masters and doctorate in public/constitutional law.
>How is social life
Acceptable. Have mingled with many relevant people in important clubs and societies and am active at the debating society, though I'm not close to anyone from uni and certainly nowhere close to being a known quantity.
>Any tricks and tips
Try to block that gut-wrenching fear of doing something you're uncomfortable with. Talk to anyone and everyone even if its just a quick introduction. The amount of times that I've needed information or help or an "in" with something I end up finding that the random guy in my class that I spoke with 4 months ago and added on normiebook can help me out.
>General
IF you're going to socialise in a drinking environment then either practice how to down drinks and to drink heavily before you go, or learn how to /pretend/ to drink heavily. Being able to throw a shot over your shoulder and pretend you drank it is an invaluable skill.

Also for the love of god take it seriously. Do the work and turn up to class.

Absolute shit. It's a really small college and everyone goes home after classes end... I have a few friends to have lunch with. We discuss anime, manga, comics and vidya and that's it.
Girls are either hardcore tumblrinas, mega shy that never leave their houses or lesbians...
>any tricks and tips to college?
I dunno... My only advice is for you to never miss classes. If you start skiping classes\lectures you will end up becoming a shut-in and then you will fail college and spend the rest of your life dealing with trailer trash in some underpaid job.

Like it is everywhere. I'm one of those people that shouldn't be complaining because "they got everything in life".

Reason it seems that way is that my father has a 2k euro paycheck so to everyone we're just some rich spoiled kids that never had to do anything in their lives (which I guess we didn't).
But the psychological torture and abuse I went through growing up is unmatched.
>watch other kids play but never get to play with them because I might get dirty

Yeah, I already have a medical degree, MBChB (I think that's the equivalent of a US MD but I'm not sure, I'm a practising doctor whatever it is, like properly licensed and shit in the UK).

The MSc is specifically about the engineering aspects of Orthopaedic surgery. I'm only doing it because at this point everyone applying to surgical training have higher degrees and just having a medical degree doesn't mean anything. Hence why I'm going to have to get a PhD at some point.

If things go to shit I can rely on my engineering skills and experience to get another job. I don't plan on living with someone else and I'm frugal so money shouldn't be an issue.

geophysics and applied math
>what is your dream career?
trophy husband
>how long have you been going for it?
2nd semester freshman
>are you going to go for another degree?
wew lad
>how is social life at your college?
The other students at University of Arizona make me want to gouge my eyes out, especially the females. Glad I'm not attractive enough to put myself into a tempting situation. I have friends, but I'm very evidently different from everyone else. Two cute girls made me a Christmas card, but I'd never either of them or anything like that, because we're just too different.
>any tricks and tips to college?
Any potential chance at an undergrad lab job, go for it. I got one, and it's insanely comfy. Great for future applications.
>general college stuff!
Don't force friendship.

>Damn so people could already tell you were an aspie from that young? That's a shame.

I took it as a sign that they thought I was ambitious enough to become rich.

>Kinda sad that you already realize you will never have a wife or girlfriend

I have friends and I'm planning on buying a dog to fill the void for companionship.

>Yeah because you have no friends or girlfriend to spend money doing fun stuff with, you just harvest it all away

Like I said I have friends so fun stuff every once in a while is going to be a thing.

Lads, I took a college course in High school and got a B+ in the class. Will college looking at that on my High School transcript consider that bad? I really wanted an A+ in the class :/

I'm studying Geography, how fucked am I upon graduation? I am focusing on GIS + spatial analysis

Plenty of jobs in GIS, anon. Try for mining companies, they pay shit ton of money.

I am 18. I'm just still in highschool. I got left back in like, kinder garden, because I was too shy.
>>
>>25657620
I guess, but the thing is only about 25% of my modules are actually using GIS, the rest are either compulsory ones on general Geography, or other ones I've picked

I would have thought most GIS jobs would go to those doing CS

>are you going to go for another degree?
lol no. I am doing 1 or 2 minors tho (definitely applied stats)
>how is social life at your college?
everyone seems nice, lots of hippy types but usually smart. ive been too autismo since transferring to make any friends tho
>any tricks and tips to college?
do community college or work until you know what you want to do. at least have a general idea
>general college stuff!
it's all about time budgeting. which is easy as fuck without friends but sucks senpai
>>
>what degree are you going for?
Chemistry.
>what is your dream career?
Surgeon, not sure what kind yet though.
>how long have you been going for it?
Senior year of high school when I realized that I hated engineering.
>are you going to go for another degree?
Possibly economics or physics.
>how is social life at your college?
Not the greatest. I do go out every once in a while and my friends say I'm really outgoing at parties, not that I'm able to remember.
>any tricks and tips to college?
Don't get depressed. Go outside and walk around, even if it's by yourself.
>general college stuff!
Talk to your professors. They're really interesting people. Sex is overrated.

Teach yourself some python. I've only ever used arcgis, but that was python based. I don't know what other software types use. Python's super easy to use and learn.

>what degree are you going for?
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
>what is your dream career?
Professor and/or computer science researcher
>how long have you been going for it?
Roughly 4 years now, I still have another year because the university/department fucked me over this quarter
>are you going to go for another degree?
Yes, a PhD, applied to 4 grad programs and hoping I get into at least one of them they're also not elitist schools so it shouldn't be hard. I'm also thinking of picking up a second major in math since I have another year and I can get the requirements done easily.
>how is social life at your college?
It's mostly fratbros, jocks, sorority whores, rednecks and hicks. There are parties all the time and the school is well known for its underage drinking problem. It's not a good place for a robot at all.
>any tricks and tips to college?
1. Don't overload on classes/credits
2. Don't self advise
3. Don't be a social reject
4. Don't be a shut in
5. Don't be a robot, edgelord, fedora tipper, or anything of the sort
7. Get prereqs for you major done early and save gen eds for your junior and senior years
8. Don't live in the dorms
>general college stuff!
It fucking sucks. Don't go. Do whatever the fuck you want, just don't go to college unless you really want to. It's just a ruse.

Also, OP sounds like some freshmen normie faggot. I don't see why anyone would be this excited about fucking college unless they're a first year normalfag who knows jack shit about life.

Why are you going for the PhD?

Most CS people get well paying jobs straight out of college and don't bother with that.
>>
>>25657846
Yeah I guess, I know R pretty well already which is handy

>>25658194
If you hate college so much then why are you staying to do a PhD and why do you want to be a professor?
>>
>>25658561
I didn't know that R was useful for GIS stuff.

I mostly just use arcgis and USGS isis software.
>>
>>25654371
alright, I have calculated my total college costs as $128000, mostly paid my parents, but still 16k in debt
>I'll never get a job to pay my debt or repay my parents
>my dad will probably end up paying my debt as well
kill me, why am I so fucking retarded, I could've gone to a state school and saved $100k, degree is useless anyway, not like I can get a job.
>tfw I'm in the top tier of massive faggots even in this fucking shithole
>>

What did you study at school, anon?

Fuck teh robot
>>
>>25657779
>docked around for three years
Nice, me too. Only I actually graduated. It was fun and I learnt plenty, but now I'm going to start a science major with a vocation in mind.

I'm not doing envieo, but two of my housemates did honours in it. One works maintaining the cities dumps and does enviro education for labourers and the other works in the state enviro department. Seems like a pretty sweet specialty with different paths. They do say they'll have to get a masters or PhD soon though.
>>
Sorry for all the typos. I'm not actually retarded, I'm just a phone poster and autocorrect kills me.
>>
>>25658609
It's not particularly, but was used in a module with Big Data which required us to produce figures from a huge dataset. It can do correlation + regression in a couple lines of code as well

I can use ArcGIS as well
>>
>>25658886
cheme, doesn't matter though, it's useless because of me
>>
>>25659001
what's your new science major?

most state environmental jobs seem pretty comfy.
do they need the degrees to keep their jobs or to advance/get promoted?

>geophysics and applied math

What do you wanna do when you grow up? Geo sciences are hella comfy good choice
>>
>what degree are you going for?
BS in Biochemistry, might change to BioMedical Engineering who fucking knows.
>what is your dream career?
If I get into med school, surgeon. If not, maybe dentist. If I can only survive undergrad, I guess I'll go for grad school and throw myself into a meat grinder.
>how long have you been going for it?
Sophomore undergrad.
>are you going to go for another degree?
Med / Dental school
>how is social life at your college?
Better than I hoped. Roommates from last year ditched me- they had a HUGE friend group, threw lots of parties, seemed bro-tier. I had a pretty great freshman year as a pretend-normie, but I guess they smelled the robot and decided to ditch me after they moved off campus. Have good roommates, and handful of friends with the same classes. Thankfully I might not have to be the only fuck in my labs to not have a partner anymore. I spend most nights playing vidya and trying not to pay attention to the social butterflies having parties literally everywhere around me.

Tips and Tricks
>start making friends the seconds you walk in the door on the first day of classes, it only gets harder as the semester goes on
>study at least two hours a night for your core classes, not including homework
>never decline an offer to hang out
>if you're tired of not getting invited to parties, try throwing some of your own
>the jocks from highschool never went away, now they're called Greeks
>do your fucking homework you lazy sack of shit
>>
>>25659152
My old major was history, my new major is psychology. I'm hoping to either practice psych by doing a Psy. D or go into grad med at the end of this new major (its only two years because of my previous studies and I need the time to study for med entrance exams). I live in Australia which is why I can study a lot and not worry about debt.

As to your other question, my housemates say that they'll eventually need a higher degree because of advancement. Apparently its very comfy for them but they can already see that there a going to be an education barrier soon. Some good advice they told.me is that since enviro is so practical its essential that you get experience when you finish your bachelor's first, and then go in to do a research degree.
