Reposting:
Authorities confiscate Israeli made weapons in Sweida countryside [bound for ISIS]

A source at Sweida Governorate told SANA that the authorities ambushed a car loaded with weapons and ammunition coming from the eastern countryside of Daraa and heading for ISIS terrorist organization in the eastern Badiya.

The confiscated munitions included Israeli-made anti-personnel landmines, an RPG launcher and rounds, B9 shells, 120 mm, 80 mm and 60 mm mortars, grenades and 23 mm machineguns rounds, according to the source, who noted that the terrorist driver was killed.

The golan heights are from great strategic value for Israel. Who has ever been there can clearly see why it is impossible to hand this are over to Syria. North of the galilean sea you have the jordan valley and then the Golan heights to the west which give a fantastic overview over the whole area. There is even an ancient fortress. In the other direction you can look miles into the plains of syria (Al-Quneitra area)

Because the marines are brainwashed into killing machines. They're only smart in what they were trained to do, which is fight & kill. The army literally has the most funding, so we get the best technology and pretty good living conditions. The marines still have shit from the 80's and use iron sights for rifle qualification while we use CCO sights aka red dots. The marines are pretty much bait

China is playing for neo-mercantilism, and succeeding at it.
They're also hell bent on staying out of the spotlight, which they can afford unlike Russia.
Russians have to HULK SMASH shit because they don't have economical leverage.
Both countries do not need a fleet of carriers.

Russia doesn't because they a) can't afford it and b) they don't need force projection on the other side of the world. What they need is to be a literal doomsday scenario trigger if directly attacked, which they absolutely are.

China doesn't because they subdue countries and regions economically first. They as well only need a defense force hard enough for USA to break it's teeth on it, which they surprisingly also have as their missile systems are horribly underestimated by most people. They also don't need force projection capabilities for countries in Africa or South America, they can fucking ruin them economically.

This "China is in a crisis" shit is really weird too. Supposedly they aren't doing that well lately, but they still have IMMENSE investments in- and outside of their country. Size of which is absolutely breathtaking for most western countries, like their famous "test cities", like trade ports that take over a day to navigate. I strongly suspect the theory that China's stock market drop was actually aimed at devaluing Yuan, as their economy isn't tied to the stock casino the way western ones are.

They're probably not going to do that, you have to know turkeys army is just saying that to flex some muscles, they are not actually going to invade all of northern Syria, that would be a huge mistake.

Anyways if the ''moderate terrorists'' loose Azaz, they're done for in northern Aleppo.
>>
>>72219692
Well, we could definetely use a carrier or two in Pacific fleet, but we can't really afford them.

Sometimes you need intermediate responces between "send a strongly-worded letter" and "nuke EVERYTHING", and we often lack them.
We still can nuke everything, though.

>The Syrian Arab Army continued its large-scale military offensive against forces of Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Turkistan Islamic Party in north-eastern Latakia Governorate on Tuesday.

>Soldiers from the Syrian Army used anti-tank guided missiles to repel the militant groups from strategic locations in the area. The hilltops of north-east Latakia are strategically important, as they link the three regions of Latakia, Idlib and Hama.

>Moments ago, Islamist rebel fighters – spearheaded by Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions – managed to storm and capture the village of Ayn Daqnah and the nearby Bailoneh hill (southeast of the village), thus wrestling the sites from Kurdish fighters.

>Meanwhile, heavy clashes are reportedly taking place as we speak on the very near vicinity of the YPG-held village of Kafr Shashir. Also, rebel sources claim their troops to be “at the northern gates” of Tall Rifaat, a major stronghold of Kurdish militants.

>These renewed skirmishes make the first hostility between the Syrian Opposition and Kurdish groups in northern Aleppo since the YPG and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a major assault on the region two months ago. Remarkably, today’s offensive comes amid the Islamic State capturing 5 villages from rebels in the very same region, thus hinting at a somewhat surprising rebel redeployment from the ISIS frontline to the Kurdish frontline.

>The goal of today’s rebel advances are likely aimed at securing the southern flank of Azaz city and possibly even seizing the large town of Tall Rifaat, thereby reestablishing control over the highly important Azaz-Tall Rifaat-Mare’ axis and roadways.

British jihadist taunts security services with account of how he and Jihadi John escaped to Syria on UK passports

Mohammed Emwazi, the Londoner filmed beheading Western hostages, and the unnamed friend, managed to leave Britain in early 2013 without attracting the attention of authorities.

Writing in Islamic State’s monthly Dar al-Islam magazine

The fighter, who says the pair were carrying €30,000 in cash, writes: “Our main problem was how to leave the UK undetected by border police, as our names were on lists and we would have been arrested at any point of exit from the country. We therefore needed to avoid airports, stations and other official exits.

“In the end we decided to travel hidden in a lorry - controls are much stricter entering the UK than they there leaving.”

After giving UK border control the slip, they continued on to France and then Belgium, where he says they shaved off their beards, bought new clothes and booked flights to Albania using their British passports - confident MI5 had not shared its intelligence with the Belgian authorities.

The gamble paid off.
“In Albania we presented our passports, Abu Muharib’s (Emwazi’s nom de guerre) was inspected and he passed without problem,” he writes. “They flicked through mine, asked me why I was in Albania and I said I was just in transit to Greece and then they let me go too.”

From Albania they walked for days over hills to Kastoria in neighbouring Greece and then got a bus to the port city of Thessaloniki. From there they got a boat to Turkey, where they were met by an Isil fixer who helped them sneak into Syria.

Defense minister: Russia anxiously watches Lebanon’s struggle against IS, Jebhat al-Nusra

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday.

"We are anxiously watching the confrontation between the Lebanese army and militants from the Islamic State and Jebhat al-Nusra terrorist groups [both banned in Russia] near the border with Syria and in the northern part of the Beqaa Valley,"

He voiced support for the government and people of Lebanon who are fighting terrorism and extremism. "We understand that Lebanon is going through hard times. Your country is facing a tough terrorist challenge; socio-economic upheavals and migration problems," the Russian defense minister stressed.

The Lebanese defense minister said that the situation in the region was aggravating more and more.

Hezbollah commander killed in Damascus airstrike

Samir Kuntar, a Hezbollah military commander, was killed on Sunday by an airstrike – for which the group has blamed Israel – in the Al-Homsi district outside Syrian capital Damascus.

The airstrike reportedly targeted an apartment building in which Kuntar had been staying along with a number of other Hezbollah fighters.

In a Sunday statement, the Lebanese armed group declared that Kuntar had been “martyred” in a “Zionist airstrike”.

Although the Israeli authorities have not claimed responsibility for the strike, a number of Israeli leaders have praised the operation.

Isaac Herzog, head of Israel’s opposition Labor Party, described Kuntar’s assassination as a “historical justice”, which, he said, would serve to enhance regional security.

Israel had accused Kuntar of organizing armed groups in Syria near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israel’s official Channel Two television station on Sunday asserted that Kuntar had been leading Hezbollah military operations against Israel from inside Syrian territory.

The only soldiers that are going to do any fighting in a scenario that is not WWIII is the kontraktniki which is a sizable professional force that also encompasses the VDV. In the past, Russia has used the VDV as a spearhead because those guys were always a great quick reaction force. But that was not what the VDV is made for. Instead the VDV are supposed the guys that you drop in behind enemy lines. That has only changed a few years ago.

"The air task force has destroyed over 200 facilities of oil extraction, refining and pumping on the territories controlled by terrorist groupings in Syria, as well as more than 2,000 means for the delivery of oil products," Rudskoi said at the 5th Moscow conference on international security.

"The resources base of the illegal armed formations of the ISIL [the former name of the Islamic State terrorist organization outlawed in Russia] and Jabhat al-Nusra has been undermined. The terrorist groupings have lost their main source of revenues from the illegal sale of oil, which, in turn, has limited their possibilities for the purchase of armaments, ammunition and the provision of money allowance to militants," Rudskoi said.

According to the general, since the start of an operation in Syria, Russian warplanes have destroyed some 29,000 targets, making more than 9,500 combat sorties

"In almost seven months of combat operations, planes of the Russian Aerospace Forces have made more than 9,500 sorties, hitting some 29,000 terrorist targets," Rudskoy told the 5th Moscow Conference on International Security.

The general said Russia was actively using long-range aviation, carrying out about 180 sorties. Besides, there have been "massive launches of air-based and sea-launched winged missiles… to the range of up to 1,500 kilometers," Rudskoy said.

Cholera outbreak hits Zanzibar, kills at least 45, 3000 people have been hospitalized.

The government of Zanzibar has recently taken steps to stem the outbreak, including banning the sale of food and juices in open areas. The government has also established several camps in the islands of Unguja and Pemba where cholera patients are isolated.

Heavy rains continue to pound parts of Zanzibar, clogging sewer systems and exacerbating the cholera problem.

The Turkish government facilitates the movement of jihadist terrorists between Syria and Turkey, according to a report by the Turkish nongovernment organization “Right to Life, Against War” about the situation in the province of Hatay, which is on the border with Syria.

The report, already the second filed by the organization, suggests that the border area has become a hub for jihadists with Daesh and other terrorist groups enjoying complete immunity against prosecution.

The report quotes a source in the Turkish Interior Ministry as saying that when a Daesh member is detained he is never prosecuted even though the

Turkish law enforcers know he is a terrorist. This means that the Turkish officials are all too eager to send these terrorists across the border into Syria and make sure they don’t come back.

"Jihadists from, say, Turkmenistan are issued Turkish passports and sent to Kayseri province. All this work is coordinated by the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey,” the unnamed source said.

According to the report, Turkey has stopped accepting some of the refugees coming in from Syria under the pretext that they are not entitled to temporary residence in the country. These people are held in Daesh-controlled areas in neighboring Syria.

“By doing so the Turkish authorities facilitate the work done by their immigration officials while, simultaneously using peaceful Syrian civilians as a human shield for the jihadists being flushed out by the Syrian army and Russian airstrikes,” the report said.

Russia Asks UN to Put Ahrar Al-Sham, Jeish Al-Islam on Sanction List

Russia has filed a request with the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee to put Ahrar al-Sham and Jeish al-Islam, on the sanction list of terrorist groups, as the groups are reported to regularly violate the ceasefire in Syria, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said.

The reason for this step were numerous reports that these groups active in Syria have close links with such terrorist organizations as ISIL and al-Qaeda, offer them and receive from them financial, logistics and military support.

When put on the list of terrorist organization along with ISIL and al-Qaeda, these groups will stop to be covered by the ceasefire regime in Syria and it will be possible to deliver strikes against them.

According to the Russian diplomat, Russia began preparatory work to promote its request to the committee several months ago but decided to take a pause when another round of intra-Syrian talks started in Geneva. But now that these groups are reported to regularly violate the ceasefire regime in Syria, the Russian side has taken a decision to resume its request.

i'm guessing they thought EU countries share some common lists with people and they wanted to avoid that, so that's why they did not fly str8 to greece. Albania not being in the EU could be used as something to lose their mark. so that's why I think they sneaked into Greece. I'd guess flying str8 to turkey would have raised suspicion( it sure would today, but since it was a few years back,,, i can't really say for sure)

Virginia state senator travels to Syria, praises Assad

The official Syrian news agency says a conservative Virginia state senator is touring the war-torn country and meeting with officials from Syrian President Bashar Assad's government.

Loudoun County Republican Sen. Dick Black arrived in Syria on Tuesday for a three-day visit.

President Barack Obama and other U.S. officials have repeatedly said Assad has lost his legitimacy to rule the country, but Black has praised Assad, saying he has protected Christians in Syria and fought against terrorist groups.

The Syrian Arab News Agency erroneously reported that Black is a U.S. senator. Black is a state representative who has no role in official U.S. foreign policy.

The outspoken socially conservative senator sent a letter praising Assad in 2014 that was posted on the Syrian president's Facebook page.

Yeah sure, that way no one knows they're back in the EU in Greece and assume they're still in Albania if they know at all.
But they were happy to fly from Belgium, but maybe they knew before we did how shit Belgian intelligence is.
I'm also wondering why they 'walked for days' from Albania to Greece. Once you're in southern Albania, you can get into Greece fairly easily walking for just a few hours over the mountains. Though again maybe the Greeks patrol the mountains and there's a safe route that takes longer.

China strengthens terrorism battle

CHINA is strengthening cooperation with other countries to prevent homegrown terrorists from going to Syria and Afghanistan to join Islamic State and coming back with enhanced terrorist skills

Xing Guangcheng, director of the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Australian Institute of International Affairs that terrorists from China, many of them from the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, were testing different routes of going abroad.

One used frequently in recent years runs from Xinjiang to China’s southern provinces, to Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, and then through Turkey to Iraq and Syria.

When they are stopped either in China or in Southeast Asian countries and realize they may never make it to their desired destination, they very likely choose to make some desperate gestures and “do something big locally,” Xing said.

Xing said China worries about the radicalization of local youth and is even more concerned with those who travel to the Middle East for terrorist training and come back to threaten security at home.

The entire international community is facing the threat of terrorism, Xing said. That’s why China is cooperating with many other powers, including Russia, the European Union and the United States, in combating terrorism.
