1) Every plan he has for this country, although it may sound like a decent idea at first, is infeasible to accomplish in a short amount of time. As an example, free college would be a great thing to have, but our infrastructure and economy can't support it, nor will it be able to in the next 4 years.
2) All of his plans disregard individual liberty and assume that everyone is being oppressed by the top 1%. By claiming that the top 1% and the bottom 99% have a clear line in the sand drawn between them, not only does he promote ignorance and hate against the successful individuals of the country, but he promotes class warfare second only to outright violent revolution. Instead of inspiring the masses to try harder to improve their lives, he claims that everyone has a right to be handed everything on a government issued silver platter, which goes against the very ideals of this country

TL;DR He has no idea what he's talking about and believes "feasibility" is something that doesn't matter when it comes to changing a country

As a follow up:
1. His idea of a debate is simply saying rich people are bad, over and over again. Give me some substance to make me believe in you; make me want to agree.
2. His ideas are laughable:
A. His idea to pay for college is to institute a fee on all "speculative trading" (ignoring the fact that that's anything that isn't a hedge trade), that takes a PERCENTAGE of the value of the trade.

To expand: in the futures market, we have various fees. These are typically on a per lot basis, and can add up to quite a bit. Making these fees a percentage would severely hamper the liquidity of the market.

Bear in mind, that growth on index funds is averaged to about 6-7% in real dollars, with anywhere from .05% to 1.5% being eaten up by management fees, to take an additional two percent out (once when you buy, once when you sell), you are essentially eliminating any reason to invest.

Sweden did this once, and it basically ruined their stock market.

3. He has no idea add to how to transition to single payer. His main idea is just "implement it"

The man has plenty of ideas, and some of them are good - for a small homogenous community.

For a country as big and diverse as America, once size fits all solutions just aren't that great.

Plus we don't like paying for other people to receive shit, we place a lot of value on work and contribution

Bernie isn't the best candidate for a couple of reasons. My primary reasons are that he has failed repeatedly to protect constitutional liberties, most notably the 2nd amendment and the extension of the PATRIOT act.

His tax policies do not favor me in the slightest. And I don't want universal healthcare in this country. My reasons for that being I don't want to pay higher taxes, and I don't want to take care of people that I don't even know, or even care about.

>>72974529
Before looking for reasons why people tend to be against him. You should add supporting arguments on why we should vote for him. But really, if it came down to it. I'm just glad that my vote counters yours. Move to Canada or Scandinavia if you want "Democratic Socialism". We don't need to implement it here.

Reagan was poor at the job, leading ill-informed and destructive campaigns like the War on Drugs. He wasn't a reflective policy maker -- just a media-friendly demagogue. America has to stop electing famous celebs as politicians. It's picking people because they're famous and not because they can do the job. It sucks massively!!

The word you're looking for is "indirect"
This is the specific word used in the study that Bernie cited, but he screwed up the real message by saying "direct".
>"Climate change INDIRECTLY causes terrorism".

They are two different words with two different meanings. This isn't like flammable and inflammable where it's the same shit.

You must be new here. For the longest time /pol/ was (and sort of still is) on a Jew hunt. Basically if you look at individuals who are pushing some sort of agenda from the Bolshevik revolution to the promotion of SJW schools of thought, people of Jewish decent tend to be the ones pushing these schemes. It's up to form your own opinion on the merchant.

>>72976497
>He's not qualified in law, international diplomacy, political negotiation, writing legislation, or policy formation.

Who are the cabinet members that Trump appoints for 500, Alex? It's like everyone thinks Trump's greatest talent is making money, or being a great negotiator. But it's like they've completely forgot that you can't make billions of dollars without having a very competent staff behind you at all times. Trumps greatest trait is finding individuals with talent and placing them under his command. When he finds those people, appoints them to their positions, and listens to their advice, he can then make an informed decision.

You make it seem like Obama was qualified in everything from day 1, and he did the same exact thing Trump is going to do: find experts and listen to their advice, before forming a comprehensive strategy on how to achieve whatever goals or aspirations he's laid out.
>>
>>72975221
So Trump lowers taxes. Then what? We are already living in a country with a debt that keeps on rising every single fucking year, yet no let's lower taxes and spend more on the Military skyrocketing the debt even further.

Why does no politician have any desire to actually balance the budget, reduce our deficit and reduce the national debt?

Honestly, the point about who he appoints is my main cause for optimism. I'm hoping that Washington politicians keep the place working smoothly, even when there's a nutcase in office.

That said, Obama was obviously a super qualified person for the job. Coming into the job, he knew law very well, had substantial political experience, and was good at political negotiating. But probably what matters most is the political team a president has and I'm concerned that Trump's foreign policy team is being laughed at by experts in the field -- and that's a field where I think expertise is actually worth something, i.e. if expert advice was followed we wouldn't have started a war in Iraq.

I meant things like natural rights and liberties: freedom of press, expression, religion, association, petition, life, liberty, trial by jury, rule of law, and the like. Underfunding isn't related to that.
>keeping autocracy out of power
The same way it's always been done. Make government accountable and allow the people to have their say in their rights. While you may say that this leads always to free markets, rigid hierarchies and social divisions associated with oligopolies and corporate systems can't form when the masses of educated working people are in charge of their own affairs.

So

He wants a 15$ minimum wage which as was shown in Seattle creates a ton of job loss and puts higher costs on things like local governments and state funded nonprofits.
He wants free college which costs everyone a ton, increases supply and reduces demand of college educations, doesn't regulate for people wasting that free education on useless degrees, and will likely lead to tuition increases charged to government.
He wants universal Pre-K which had proven poor results including that pre-K students under performed compared to regular students by grade 3 and it disrupts the existing private school market.
He wants free medicare which would lead to 71% of american households paying more.
He honestly thinks women earn 79c to the dollar for equal work which is flat retarded.
He wants to expand social security
He basically has no understanding of how environmental issues work and thinks you can solve them all just by tossing government funds at corporations to make them go green.
He opposes international trade agreements saying international trade makes the poor poorer which is retarded.
He wants to reverse the 2010 citizens united v. federal election commission supreme court ruling which made it legal to broadcast documentaries and other media critical of federal candidates shortly before election.
He is anti white and occassionally lets slip comments like "You don’t understand the degree to which we are terrorized. … I’m just talking about everyday activities where police officers are bullying people" or "When you’re white, you don’t know what it’s like to be living in a ghetto"
Wants to tax the everloving fuck out of anything remotely successful
Very old
Wants to greatly expand government

I could probably give more reasons but that should be enough.

Aha, so you will enforce communism by by essentially being libertarian.

Since we still have all those freedoms, what stops me from paying someone to do something?

>the same way it's always been done

Which is? Executions? Castrations? Razing buildings to the ground? These have always been done.

>allowing people to have a say in their rights won't lead to free markets.

Yes it will. You confuse "crony capitalism" (corporatocracy) with a free market. The United States is not a free market.

>masses of educated working people

Who is educating them?

>rigid hierarchies and divisions won't occur when people are in charge of their own affairs.

Laughable. There aren't infinite resources, and each person is different. It is inevitable that some people will just be naturally better at obtaining these resources (food, energy, money, etc) than others. This is a universal constant.

Communism would be these people being forced to share the work of their efforts, and how would that be enforced?

Yeah, those are "green energy solutions" which the person was arguing against. We can't just gouge into the earth over and over again for oil and coal and expect it just go on indefinitely.

Fracking can be done safely, without significant damage to the environment, according to various EPA official (the leftist EPA even has to admit, but not you special snowflake) The rich leftists can afford the suffering imposed on the poor by blocking this clean burning efficient energy source.
>>
>>72981540
Green energy sources develop best over time as they become profitable in the private sector through innovation and demand. We can't just force over a switch from oil and coal is already in a sort of phasing out. Besides, nuclear, in particular Thorium is probably the right direction. No one expects oil and coal to go on indefinitely but it is unrealistic to force a phase out of oil when it's not profitable to do so especially when the market is already shifting towards better energy sources and alternatives on its own.

What do think will have when those five generations are up?
>>
>>72974165
1. He is advocating some pretty serious changes to American economy, some of which might work in small manageable Northern European country but not so much for a densely populated western power house that's under constant thread of Tornadoes, earthquakes and volcanoes. I mean it's a tad easier to control 5 million people than it's to control over 300 million people living in 48 different states.

2. There's a chance that he will just turn his coat the moment he gets his foot in to white house or alternatively the powers that be won't let him do anything and will just put him on a lease or make shit up and put him in to jail / force him to resign.
>>
>>72981568
>>72982025
More importantly, what do you think the ecological impact will be during those five generations?
>>
>>72981489

The resources themselves are renewable but the methods of obtaining them aren't infinite.

I do support alternative energy, but it's not like we'll experience huge problems BEFORE we "run out of oil in 50 years," right?

>It's perfectly normal when your water catches fire.

>>72981975
I don't think anyone wants to force a change like turning a light switch, but the longer it goes on the worse damage it's going to do. People want to fuck up the planet and then they don't want to put any research of funds into space travel. People talk about what we do and don't have money for, about practicality, meanwhile we live in the most senselessly consumption driven society.
>>
Are you kidding me?

Voting for Bernie Sanders is the fastest way to start the race war. The more socialist policies we have, the more likely people are to kick back and enjoy the benefits of living in a progressive society, and the less likely it is that the only ones capable of paying the bills will stick around and pay them.

When the government can't afford the gibme's, and there is nobody in the country left to steal from, what do?

Duh, kill the niggers.
>>
> anti white
> wants to raise taxes
>>
>>72982188
I think industry innovations will produce cleaner energy sources far better than the federal govt. and history agrees with me.

I'm sorry, but this is a partisan ploy to limit conservative political action, and you've been duped.

>it's not about buying a six pack on the weekend, it's about the poor in the aforementioned states being able to send their kids to college, when otherwise they would not be.

More importantly green energy can't meet even basic demand, and in this country everyone should have some access to the resources of the land, not just govt. bureaurocrats.

You may be overlooking that major changes are already happening in the industries and that the energy methods we use are not static and things have been getting way better. We're putting more funding and minds into environmental and space than we ever have before with all kinds of new private space operations coming into play that were never dreamed of before. NASA even said the reason they didn't allocate so much of their budget into space anymore was just that it didn't cost as much to keep the program making progress. (It used to cost a billion a year to maintain a rocket for example) Consumption creates demand and demand creates innovation and progress, a consumption driven society is the best kind for solving the problems you might be concerned with. In short I kind of think you should stop with the Cassandra complex.
>>
>>72982497
If you look into what is happening in western PA you'll realize that's not true.

this is the arrogant attitude of the left that insists American are all dumb, when in reality the city counsels of these regions are putting resonable restrictions on the industry already. Without federal intervention (enviromental impact statements)

The first thing that pushed me against him was honestly the entire "free college" idea. Academia is wracked with radical leftist thought and a ridiculous chunk of programs--which receive taxpayer money--advocate anti-American ideas and teach students no useful skills. We need to reshape academia from the ground up before funneling money into it. I'm not even talking about turning it into some ultra-nationalist right wing space. I just want more moderate, centrist colleges with a greater emphasis on teaching skills applicable to the workforce.

Additionally, he lost a lot of any confidence I had in him during his run-in with those BLM kids up in Washington. He allowed radicals to shut his event down and take the mic. That was both weak and ideologically dangerous--two things I would never, ever want in a president.

Beyond that, I have lots of doubts regarding the validity of his tax plan and really doubt that he would get much done in office since a lot of his ideas seem too radical to ever make it through congress.

he wants to pay for free college with a speculation tax

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_financial_transaction_tax
>By 1990, more than 50% of all Swedish trading had moved to London.
>As a result, revenues from these taxes were disappointing. For example, revenues from the tax on fixed-income securities were initially expected to amount to 1,500 million Swedish kronor per year. They did not amount to more than 80 million Swedish kronor in any year and the average was closer to 50 million.
>in addition, as taxable trading volumes fell, so did revenues from capital gains taxes, entirely offsetting revenues from the equity transactions tax that had grown to 4,000 million Swedish kronor by 1988.

there is no way he could get the required 350 billion he needs, the damage to the markets would fuck over peoples retirement savings
