Why does /pol/ hate Islam? There is nothing wrong with the religion, it's wacko tribal Arabs butthurt over British and French occupation causing the problem. When the Islamic world was run by the Ottomans apart from the Barbary piracy and some skirmishes with Austria and Russia they caused no major problems to Europe after 1683. They were even looking to "do a Russia" and become a modern European state themselves. Alas they chose the wrong side in WW1 and we stupidly dismantled them. Even then Islam wasn't causing a problem, but then the British took over the place and was generally being extremely culturally insensitive. Yet STILL Islam wasn't a big issue in the world (Was Islamic terrorism a thing in the 70s? No.) The British got kicked out, dictatorships were set up and the place look set to go the way of Africa i.e isolated despotates. But there was too much oil there to ignore the place so in come the Americans to destabilize the place and today you have Islamic terrorism. The only concession I'll give is that yes Islam has given a single banner to unite under against the West because the exact same shit happened to Africa yet there is no African global terrorism because they are Christians and hence too tied to the West to hate us.
Tl;dr Islamic terrorism is the result of years of Western meddling.
