I wouldn't say that it was started by 'real' Jews, but it probably was done with the goal of pushing R&D (specifically in biosciences and propulsion), creating the nationstate of Israel, and for the formation of the United Nations.

The Holocaust did happen and I (a Brazilian Jew) gave a reasonable explanation to justify it here on /pol/ a while ago on a thread about it. It was a retaliation of Germany against the Jewish elite that was trying to manipulate Germany through media:

The Nazis knew that there was no way to directly attack those Jews like you normally would during a bombing run, as there was no Jewish nation at the time. The only way for Hitler to directly attack the Jews, something that he warned numerous times about, was to directly target Jewish citizens in Europe, concentrate them, and kill them.
