How would the discovery of extraterrestrial life affect the major religions on Earth, /pol/? For arguement's sake, let's assume a highly advanced species made contact and some form of communication was established. And let's assume our new friends were peaceful, willing to share their knowledge, and in no way religious. Would religion be put to them to consider, or would it spell the end of religious belief as we know it? I'm curious how the two subjects would play together. What about the other end of the scale, as in, evidence of microbial life found on Mars? Would this affect the thinking of today's religious people?
