For me, I've been thinking a lot about the negative things I see every day and mostly have realized that it's very easy to see the world through a very narrow lens. Personally I have come to believe that a lot of what people focus on is actually quite inconsequential. Technology currently in development, while silent right now, will soon transform the whole world (no matter what) and everything we talk about now will be forgotten.
Just look at the rapid pace of automation of industry and the even more rapid pace of the entire world shifting sources of energy consumption. And look at what NASA has planned next decade.

Originally meant as a simulation for "real world" politics, the nameless idea of /pol/andcraft came into fruition when an anonymous serverfag took inspiration from a random image found on /pol/ of a well-built beach house, and literally 19 minutes later, started a thread with an idea to start a minecraft server. "/pol/craft" was one suggestion that came into conflict with wowfags, so we opted for "/pol/andcraft" instead. It was also initially intended to be a towny server, not a faction server.
The goal of /pol/andcraft is to establish politically based factions and the factions will work as "governments". To simulate politics, we have no extra plugins for economy or any of that. It's a pretty "rules light" server and the only real thing that will get you banned is combat hacking, besides that we're pretty loose about what happens.
The server also implements a custom resource pack to "increase immersion" into "politics" :^).
