My wife likes me to take pictures in bed. I use a Nikon D750 when I'm out and about the town, but end up using an old point-and-shoot when I'm at home. Any suggestions for lenses for that D750? It should be

>Autofocus

Hey guys, im planing to buy a camera but im new in this, anyone knows a good camera at good price for beginners?

I am completely new to this. I am interested in time lapse videos, but I also want to take pretty picture when I see something beautiful when I hike or climb mountains.

I have been using my phone, but while it is decent, I want a professional device.

Can you please tell me which brands and models to look at? I might get a go pro for when I bike throughout the city,

Also, what is the role of photoshop? I always thought it would be better to look at unedited pictures, but I see lots of posts where they have been edited with photoshop.

I will do lots of research on how to set appropriate camera settings when using the camera/camcorder. I will also practice a lot.

And not to brag, but I like to take picture of girls in my bedroom, and I'd like to take them to a meadow or something and have model-like pictures which my phone is incapable of.

So what kind of professional camera am I looking for?

Thankyou for the help. I dont want to spend thousands as this is merely a hobby and a way to capture memories

Basically, I want to take pics of pretty scenes when I hike. I am interested in time lapse videos. Biking with a gopro interests me. But I mainly want to take the girls I fuck to the pretty outdoor scenes and take model-like pictures.'

Budget is 1k. I can extend to 3k but I'd rather not, but I mean by that I can wiggle around the 1k budget if necessary.
Thanks.

A D3300 or a K-S2/K-70 will have all the timelapse controls needed integrated into the UI to process the images in camera into a timelapse or just shoot the images and use them in PS or whatever software to combine them into a timelapse video.
Also you can use an intervalometer, but that costs extra money and is unwieldy.

Prime shipping here is same day if ordered before 10 a.m. Sometimes as late as 12 depending on product.

I abuse the shit out of it.

I went to buy my new camera body the other day and it was sold out. So I bought the lens, and ordered the body from the web. It arrived that afternoon.

What do I have to search for if I want a "viewfinder" mount to lenses?

Basically turning the lens into a binocular, but just.. one lens.
>>
Finally decided to get a xt10 over a x100t, gonna avoid buying lenses until I've tried a few my mate is willing to lend.

Keeping an eye on the 18mm f2 and 35 f2. Both tasty lenses.
>>
>>2865741

I am not sure it is as much of a issue with the xt10, but make sure you update the firmware.

The xt1 launch firmware is unusable (slow auofocus). Later versions improved it quite a bit. The last I used (4.0 on the xt1 I wanna say, about a year ago) still had trouble with some lenses, and you could forget low light.
>>
>>2865754
The xt1 is an overpriced joke, I haven't heard a thing from the xt10 - pretty much anyone will tell you to take it over the xt1 as it's the same camera minus weather sealing and larger viewfinder.
>>
So I played with an a7 at the shop today.....Was that camera actually designed by human fucking beings, or were aliens involved? I heard people say the ergonomics were bad, so I expected a little wonkiness, but I was blown away. How does anybody get anything done with something like that? How can you stand holding the thing for more than a few minutes? I thought they were exaggerating but now I understand.

I still feel a little flabbergasted. What the fuck, Sony?
>>
What would be a good "rugged" camera? Handheld - not gopro, just for pictures not video

Everything I've come across in my brief search stop functioning past -20c and aren't very impact proof

>>
I was looking for a camera light, (mainly for filming, but relax, the /vid/ thread is dead as fuck recently) and I discovered the Neweer 160, which apparently is ULTRABRIGHT for really cheap but has also a really cheap housing.

Now the question I have is: What kind of set do I take? The standard one? THe one with the included camera-horlder or the one with the 2 lights + tripods for them?
>>
>>2865827
The one that looks the most useful for you
>>
>>2865811

Try the a7ii.

Drastically improved.
>>
So, I got a 70D dirty cheap some time ago and have been saving up to get a better lens.

I mostly like to take pictures of people (be it on events or in the street) but I also use the camera to shoot short films.

What would be a good lens to get? I've been thinking of getting a 28mm, but not exactly sure.
>>
>>2865368
id go with a 50mm if you dont already have the 1.8 at least. the 70-200 is already a pretty good portrait lens.

so either get the sigma 50 1.4, cheap canon 50 1.8, 40 2.8 if the pancake factor appeals to you, or middling range cheapness but good quality canon 85 1.8. cant really go wrong with any of them...

Exactly what I wanted since I have a 400mm pentax lens as well.

I saw that they sold for average 50usd at this site.

Checked ebay, 4 times the price..

Fucking bullshit.
>>
>>2865895
There needs to be quite a bit of glass in those things.

The image has to be flipped around since photography lenses project the mage upside down.
And you'll want a strong tele-converter to trade brightness for range. (the Lens2Scope I posted has a 5X TC IIRC)
>>
>>2865899
Yeah but since I saw the average selling price was 50usd I knew the prices are jewd.

I have a 2x converter already.

Just wanted a cool gadget to play with, but the prices for these right now are not acceptable.

Found this however:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hama-PATP-Telephoto-Lens-Serie-Adapter-SNr-54038748-Fernrohradapter-Pentax-/282063937327?hash=item41ac521f2f:g:32IAAOSwzhVWtm7a

But that doesn't quite look like the real deal. But if it flips the image I'm willing to try it out in case I will get a modern tele lens and get a proper monocle adapter for it.

Just got this off craigslist, I think the guy that sold it to me was getting rid of it because he couldn't get the battery out. Apparently it's a common problem once the insides are corroded.

Took it to a camera shop, works great other than the nonworking light meter. My girlfriend is giving me one of hers, but I don't like lugging around stuff I don't need. Are there any rules of thumb other than Sunny 16?

I've got a Pentax k5, I'm looking at my first lens for it (just something to mess around with until I get the hang of the camera) and I see pentax SMC 28-80 f3.5-5.6,Tokina 28-70 f3.5-4.5,Takumar F 28-80 f:1 3.5-4.5,Sigma 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 & Tamron Asperical 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 all near the same price, I'm not exactly sure which to buy because they all seem so close spec wise, maybe I'm just not smart enough to decipher the difference

GX85 with kit 12-32 and a used 20/1.7 for sharp do everything prime or Panasonic 45-150 for telephoto, or used Olympus 45/1.8 for portraiture. No other option's going to shoot good video.

Nothing else will satisfy your video requirement. Other cameras can give you more for stills capabilities though.

Man, they make a nearly perfect camera, but then skimp on the damn Autofocus module, the one thing a SLR is supposed to be good for.

That makes me wonder if it's really that hard to make a good AF module?
If they don't have the expertise then maybe license the technology from Nikon or something.

Also an option would be a G7 for video and cheaper price, but it has more of a DSLR-like body for better ergonomics but bulkier package. I dunno about how they compare in terms of rugged-ness and enviromental sealing.

OK I'm an amatuer to say the least.

Been looking at this camera range.

Canon 600d, 650d 700d
Nikon d5200, d5300

I want to do landscape shots and time lapses. Also a little night photography of the stars. I know lenses play apart but which camera is recommended?

Tripod will be used at times but most will be aim and shoot. I have noticed the Nikons don't have image stablisation. Will this be a major problem? I have very shaky hands.

Also open for suggestion for other cameras in that price range £300-£500.

Thanks.

Like many others, I get tired of my cell phone camera and want something more real, but not too expensive. I'm an amateur after all...

>>2866427
Fujifilm X70 / X100S / X100T, Ricoh GR (not GR Digital), Nikon Coolpix A, Sony RX100III / RX100IV, Panasonic LX100.
Fuji, Ricoh and Nikon are compact camera with large (APS-C sized) sensor and fixed lens (like your phone ones).
Sony and Panas have quite fast zoom lens but smaller sensor.
All of them are wonderful cameras which can mage great photos.
>>
>>2866355
Not really if you intend to make photos with spot on AF. I have never seen any photo made with an A7 that had the focus spot on, alays off a bit to front or back let alone with a moving subject.
I suggest getting a 5DIII instead, keeping the same AF but having a better sensor with the 6D or wait for the 5DIV and then get the 5DIII
Mirrorless while has the smaller body has no real size advantage when you put any lens on and the Sony UI is abysmal compared to the Canon.
Maybe you can move to crop, but the 5DII is still a decent camera. I wouldn't switch systems just for the sake of a 1-2 stop usable ISO difference or for bragging rights on internet forums.

I'm going to be traveling to south america (Peru mostly) in about a month and I was considering getting a top of the line point and shoot for the trip. I've been contemplating getting a dslr for some time but just haven't pulled the trigger. A friend recommended that I should get a bridge camera instead. He said to learn on the bridge and if I enjoy it, upgrade at a later time. Budget is not a concern but I figure I should keep it under $600 because any higher, I might as well just go for the dslr.

Are there any point and shoots or bridge camera's you guys would recommend? I'll also probably take some video so maybe the bridge is the way to go vs. the p+s. Possibly considering this...Canon Powershot SX60 HS

So the Mamiya RZ67 is kind of expensive right now and i want to move up from my Rolleiflex to something with combined viewing lens. Currently I am thinking of getting a Fuji GX680 However it did occur to me for a similar price i might be able to get a Horseman VH. The one thing i am stuck on at the moment is that the VH has the ability (though a rare adaptor) to become a 45 camera. however if i am thinking that way maybe I should just get a Horseman 45HD and get a 6*9 back for all my normal use. If anyone has experience with these systems could you tell me what it is like actually using them for landscape photography with a little bit of portraiture.
Also if there is a camera in a similar price range i have overlooked please tell me.

Guys, I just gained a massive erection, my BigmOS has arrived and just did a quick testing it's sharpness and AF.
Sharpness is decent, not as nice as the Tamron 70-200 but the reach is phenomenal. OS is nice and though the K-3 has IBIS I think it does aid the AF on the long end for having a more stable input on the AF sensor.
AF drive is silent and quick, not much hesitation. Tracking is much much smoother than on screwdrive AF drives, Auto area is actually useful now.
Only downside is the weight but I had to carry more than that for days when I was a boy-scout.
I am very impressed, this is actually a very useful lens for wildlife on the Pentax system.
>>
>>2866780

You get around 400-500 shots per battery. The grip lets you load two at once, and improves handling for those with big hands.

The a7rII supports charging over usb (only it and the a6300) or a dummy battery too.

I hear VERY good things about the EF-Mount adapters. The MC-11 one from Sigma is new, but seems to be pretty awesome from the few reviews so far. Works on almost everything

I have an a7ii and absolutely love it. But I am not sure I would spend that much on the a7rii, so it is hard for me to say go for it. I'd probably grab it over the 5ds personally but I don't have any EF lenses, just old a-mount stuff.

i havent touched a dslr in my life yet but i'm ready to upgrade from my 1980's canon a1 that i inherited. i'd really love to get a dslr that can help me take shots that i can be proud of blowing up and showing. i like to photograph wildlife and outdoors usually around dawn and dusk. a camera with video taking capability would be cool too. i adapt fast and i'm not afraid of learning. my budget is $800

if you don't know of anything off hand where are your favorite places to buy gear? i've never had to do any of this yet since i've been working with hand me down gear form my grandparents.

thanks in advance. all of this shit is pretty overwhelming.
>>
>>2867244
Dawn / Dusk photos aren't going to work easily, your budget is too small for a low light camera (cheapest of which should be the A7S).

So I guess that mostly leaves you with the typical entry-level cameras? A6000, K-50, D3300. I'd go for the A6000 due to video.

[More optimally of course you'd simply pay more and get a good new camera that can do all you want it to do, plus good glass...]

>>
>>2867251 (cont'd)
Another issue: A good super telephoto lens for wildlife alone costs multiple times as much as your budget.

Between $500-1k is actually the low end of super telephoto lenses. Cheaper Telezooms mainly. Like a Tamron 200-500. Or a Canon 400mm.

You can take shots that you are proud of "blowing up and showing" with these, but it isn't just a question of ego why people often field >=$1.5k lenses for wildlife. It's just kinda where you start to get a bunch of midrange choices for super telephoto...

I guess you get to hunt down some used setup that someone might be selling somewhere.

A cheap and optically good macro lens (which I wouldn't necessarily recommend due to how close to the subject you're working and the difficulty of using light there) is a Sony 30mm f/2.8, but that's still ~$180. Maybe you can find an older Sony NEX for one of these?

I'd recommend spending enough to get a ~100mm macro lens, though. It'll make working a lot easier.

They are decent in daylight. But in Dawn/Dusk conditions they are compromise solutions and okay at best - but certainly not ideal. And a $800 wildlife lens would be not at all ideal either.

Yes, maybe you should hold off and save up meanwhile. The low light capability of cameras is still getting better, and with time you can probably amass enough money for a good wildlife lens (they unfortunately don't seem to be dropping in price very rapidly).

Get a used Pentax K3/K5ii/K50 and the 55-300 DA-HD
I don't think the >>2867251
knows what dawn/dusk actually look like. You can get perfectly good results with that combo and technique. If you're already doing wildlife with a film camera at those times of day I'm assuming you know what you're doing.

A 105/2.8D is only about that much. Less for AIS versions.

I am brand new to photography and I'd like to buy a DSLR for the first time. I want something that will take nice stills but is still capable of filming video in HD. Any recommendations?

Should have ponied up for overnight shipping my friend. Can't stand waiting.

Lel good luck friend. The odds of you getting good results with $400 for body, lens and lighting is fairly low. Could get an ancient body, use extension tubes on a cheap lens, and get an old used flash o suppose. You will also need a tripod.

They don't offer that for Alaska.

Wankers. I hope it comes for you soon, knowing you have something exciting on the way is not fun.

You fell for the "phone camera will.be better than DSLR xD" meme hey. $400 will buy you an old used Nikon/canon/pentak etc and basic lens.

Has anybody used the Samyang 35mm 1.4? I would be using it on a Nikon F3

You seem to be forgetting that ANY camera can be good, AS LONG as it is exposed properly.
This photo is far from exposed properly.
If your phone allows for manual control, put it on a tripod and set a long exposure, like 30 seconds or so.
Make sure you have a big aperture, but this is a phone camera, so you can't change it.
And set the BASE iso, this is about 100 or 60 on most cameras. So your shots are clean.
Just learn before you go spending your money on expensive DSLRs.
Because you'll get the same shit photos with that, you'll wonder where you went wrong, and we'd just all laugh at you.

It worth the wait, bro.
Especially when you use that lens with astrotracer for a starscape landscape composite shot. You will be amazed.

Does this look like i can expose properly? My phone is sch I545, it gives me exposure value from -2.0 to 2.0 ... whatever that does, and auto night detection which is what i used for these shots, they looked best with that on.

Maybe there is an app i missed, whats a good camera app for android phone? if you have one

I decided to take a look at my camera.

ISO is stuck at auto when I set it to 20.7 mp, but I can change it at 8 mp. That is weird, why?
