I don't shoot birds often, but once in a while I get a decent shot, I don't have anything longer than a 70-200 f4L IS and on FF too so i've had to resort to stealth to sneak up on them.
I did get a bald eagle in mid flight recently I need to go through those and see if they came out.

I think it's very pleasant to look at, with the curvy lines that feel like they're extending out of the person in the picture. It reminds me of looking at a reflective sphere. Well when I saw all of the little details and lines created by the uncovered boards everywhere I knew I wanted to create the feeling of the subject kind of being engulfed (for lack of a better word) by them, so I grabbed my fish eye because I thought that might make it feel kind of "all encompassing".

I like everything in this photo minus the electric cables going across. Without seeing anything else related to them, they just don't work in this photo. Seeing as the main subject seems to be the colourful sunset, the cbles just distract imo. A quick edit in photoshop would sort that out.

I feel like you have conflicting motives going on here. The colors and all make the subject seem smaller and sad (like your trying to show it at least), but the camera angle makes him look big and ominous. I would say either change the color and make him look into the camera (to be more intimidating). Or take the shoot a little wider and from a slightly elevated position (to make him more timid and cowardly looking as well as more sad).

This. Lighting is a huge. Especially in macro, in my opinion. Even If you're not in ideal conditions, or you're in a rush, this could have been improved in post. I retouched this in literally like 2 minutes. I might have upped the exposure a tad too much, but atleast you get the idea. This was on a small JPG, you get alot better results with the oiginal .NEF ofcourse

you should crop some of the sides, they are empty space. that way the viewer would focus more on the center, where theres more going on. also: maybe tilt the camera along some axis, to get a more interesting ans less static look. except you are going for the static look. then you pretty much nailed it

I just find that it detracts from the image and makes it look messy. Most of the stuff I do is at the lowest ISO possible whilst using external flashes.
And so it's irks me...plus I should have gotten the exposure right in the first place, but it was either that or blinding the 5 year olds. Choices choices eh.
