How shit is my pleb bike?
>>958530
It doesn't look shit to me.
>>958530

Fork, shit.

If you could put a dropper post on a cx bike, imagine how fast you could go.
>>958585
Get out.
>>958598
I got the whole bike new for about 450$, so for the price I got it it's solid.
>>958587
Do you just live with shitty braking performance or is there something going on I can't see that allows you to pair V-brakes with ordinary road levers?
>>958530
It's shit but not terrible, if that makes sense. It's perfectly serviceable as a commuter (I wouldn't do much off road on it), it's outdated but not complete junk.
>>958585
Dope, disc brake up front with a functional suspension fork and Profile cranks. Is that a drum brake in the rear?
>>958587
What's stopping you? I've considered putting my dropper on my flat bar road bike (I also take it off road) but those grams.
>>958601
If you didn't know they make V compatible drop levers. No idea if those ones are though.
Only BMX on here?
>>958582
Woo, pano bros! Nice hills around your city there.
>>958585

>>958603
My seatpost width though...
>>958651
unless you're a midget, raise that fucking saddle.
>>958601
I haven't noticed a lack in braking performance, even compared to my mountain bike.
>>958651
Cotton, is that you?
>>958816
What do you have? You can get them down to 27.2 and shim those up, not sure if there's any intermediate sizes between 27.2 and 31.6.
>>958610
Nice one. Love the decal on the crank arm.
>>958819
Holly hell, that steering bar looks wide as all shit!
2nd training day. 40km. Climb a 5km route.
>inb4 toeclips, rim brakes, etc.
I'm a beginner :(
>>958894
There is nothing wrong with rim breaks
>>958880
Thanks. It's actually not a sticker. It's engraved into the crank arms. I love it as well
>>958901

>>958894
>inb4 people tell you toe clips are dangerous
Maybe they are dangerous though. Kinda.
>>958894
I've been biking for years and you have a better bike than me
>>958894
People hating on rim brakes and toe clips are retarded fearmongering americunts.
Here's my Ironman, all cleaned up after today's ride.
>>959035
I like. Lots.
>>959035
What model is that frame
>>959076
what was the original color-scheme?
>>958503
Who makes that bag
>>959078
Yellow/White. Here's what it looked like when I first slapped it together for test riding (a friend gave me the frame plus a few parts). This photo is too bright and doesn't show much besides the main issue, which was a big dent and some rust on the top tube (rolled and filled this before PC), but all the paint was badly sun-faded, with some flaking and rust spots all around.
Also yes, this one was actually badged as a Novara bike originally, but aside from the decals it's the same bike as the much better known Centurion Ironman.
>>959096
derp, I forgot my pic
>>959079
Not sure, it's military surplus. I got it used.
>>959026
Your bike is good. i would buy a thing like yours if in my country somebody import those bikes. but here the only good things under 500 usd are mtb.
frame and fork are nishiki, but it had another brand (OEM frame?) and the decals were hideous so I removed the shit out of them
gonna start doing 25 miles/day sometime soon, thing isn't pretty, it's heavy but it's fucking bombproof

Consider getting a new saddle if that one doesn't feel great, in my experience they often don't.
I'd also get rid of those reflectors and use lights when I'll need them, but that's just me.
>>959987
Thank you! I actually bought a Charge Spoon saddle and am waiting for it to be delivered. I also wanted to remove the reflector but didn't know if it was worth the hassle of removing the whole handlebar/stem.

Sorry for bad photo.
More and better ones will follow soon.
Cheers.
>>960543
Fuck that's insanely nice. You should move the bottle cage to the other spot though, it's way easier to reach. The only reason you might see CX bikes with the cage on the seat tube is to make shouldering the bike easier so unless you're doing that then yea.

Eh, only thing mini about them is the wheel size everything else is standard.
>>960583
Oh good point, honestly it was there when i bought it and then it broke some time ago and so I've just been carrying water bottles in my backpack.
>>960592
what's the wheel size impact on the ride
I have a regular bike with 24 inch wheels and a folder with 20 inch wheels, both single speed, and I find it somewhat easier to climb on the 20 inch wheels
I'm not good with science, are my impressions correct?
>>960660
As far I know, smaller wheels have better aerodinamics than bigger ones. I don't know about rolling resistance.
>>960590
Someone give me some information on this webm
>>960660
>>960668
If the gearing isn't corrected to compensate for the smaller wheels then the smaller ones will have lower gearing. You can only go so small on the cassette/cog and you may not be able to get a large enough chainring (or have clearance issues with going larger, which I think that mini velo has) so the smaller wheeled bike might end up being slower.
This is also the reason why you'll see most 29" mountain bikes with tiny arse chainrings compared to 26",

It's simple, but looks great (and even better live).
If there is one bad thing I had to say about the bike it would be the glossy finish - dust magnet and it's all visible.
>The only thing I would change is the pedals.
I need to do something about it, as they're not really compatible with my shoes. But it's happening later rather than sooner since I'm all out of money.
I do have a lot of fun riding it, tho, even if the feet could sit better, tyres could be wider and it's the first drop bar'ed bike I own.

>>960763

>>961731
Fix the saddle angle (level it), you can take off the plastic caps off the prestas. I like it, you seem to take it pretty easy and keep it clean. Make sure you run those tires nice and plush for all that comfyness (google tiredrop.pdf).
>>961954
I been trying to get the saddle perfect and its hard... i been thinkin about ditching the stem... the headset feels loose so im gonna take it back into the shop and tighten it along with the stem.... the tires are 32s and I like to run the pressure near max desu for least roll resistance and no im not going with skinnier tires the SF streets are too shitty
>>961960
>I like to run the pressure near max desu for least roll resistance
You got it wrong. No point in running "near max pressure" because you won't go any faster because of it. Your bike is going to hop around a lot more, though, wasting energy and making your ride a lot more harsh. Go and check that tiredrop.pdf, I'm telling you. Also, it's not hard to get the saddle level with a microadjustable seatpost. In your case, it's shouldn't be hard too. Just have something level in the background behind a bike (like a window sill) and level the saddle to that object until both, the end and the tip are "touching" the object in the background.

as I say I'm a beginner, I don't know much about that but my sats at the odometer are 30 km/hr avg speed, I can maintain 35-38 km/hr about 1 km - 2km iirc more or less. I'm starting and if you could provide some gear to mesure cadence, watt and other data that could help me I will appreciate it :)

>>962725
what year is this cutie, and which parts are original (or period matched)? and what's its size, top tube length and what's your height?
>>962771
Your seatpost is slamed down, your saddle is pushed to the maximum front position and this looks like a pretty big frame, so yeah the odds are this bike is too big for you.
Also your stem is higher than your saddle and you have suicide levers, this hints that you're not comfortable with the position on a road bike.
>>962771
>saddle all the way down and all the way forward
It clearly doesn't
Today is my birthday, so yay me.
I wish I had a carbon stem, handlebar, seatpost to fulfill my weight weenies dreams, instead of all aluminum.
>>961745
Have you tried riding it on the trail?
>>962785
Those three components aren't particularly worth while having in carbon, not only does it not save all that much weight there's increased risk of fucking something up from over tightening.
Doesn't really seem like much of a weight weenie build to me, would be fairly easy and cheap to save the same amount of weight those carbon bits would save you. Weird to see such new wheels, fork, and brakes on an old bike too.
>>962779
Used to be my dad's "second bike", that I borrowed and eventually took ownership over - which I highly suspect might have been his plan all along. I'm not sure he ever actually used it. Frame was bought in 2005 iirc, at which point it was probably a decade removed from being a new model (basically found in a bargain bin as I understand it). Googles for the frame, Coppi Lugano 53 points to it probably being a mid-90s frame.
It was fitted with bits and pieces he had lying around at the time, so probably not much of it was ever 1995-appropriate. I've since replaced the fork, headset, crankset, cassette and rear dérailleur because the old bits wore out, so those are definitely not.
Honestly don't know the sizes and I'm too lazy to go measure right now. I'll check in tomorrow if the thread is still up.

The handlebar is the only egregious part here. You could hide the center section under bar tape. As it is, it is quite visually jarring. I otherwise like the bike. Looks to be converted from an old ten speed. No matter what fixie fags tell you, do NOT file off the cable guides and derailleur hanger (hangar?). Keep them in case you want to try going back to using gears.
Coaster brake is really nice and relaxing. Don't listen to that faggot about replacing the hub, just build a second wheel with a fixed hub and swap out whenever you are in the mood. Oh, and install some kind of front brake in case of an emergency. Ride safe out there!

I hate biking on Pierce Butler with all the semi trucks barreling down right next to me at 50 mph. The stretch east of Hamline is awful with the way the pavement heaved at regular intervals which makes it such an oddly bumpy ride.
Picked this up for $25 burger bucks off of Craigslist. A good tune/clean, some new tires and a new derailuer cable for the 3 speed and it should be good to go.
>>963527
I usually just get on that little stretch for a few blocks or less when I'm going west on University. I go north on that road past Menards, then west on Pierce Butler, cross the bridge over the railroads, then turn right on that minor road with the bike route sign. So I'm basically only on Pierce Butler for the length of the bridge. I've only ridden much farther than that on Pierce Butler once which was just to check out the road.
Early 2000s (?) Marinoni Crono TT frameset, going to run it as a roadie. Had Spinergy Carbon tubular wheels, and all 9-speed Dura Ace stuff, sold it on eBay for twice what I paid for the bike.
Any info on the frame? I'm having trouble finding anything. All I know they are handmade in Canada, of Columbus Altec.
