It's way too humid.

Listen to your library, show off your backlog, babble about new music, tell us what you've been listening to today and what you will listen to in the following month, wonder if Jangle's Thrift Tourney ever existed, listen to Keiji Haino scream, and just let the good times flow.

Ask about our Skype group. Nobody will tell you anything, but it's fun to try.

Most importantly, get to work on that backlog!

I'm actually a little surprised either side is arguing.

RYM and /daily/ share a huge common interest in musical ideas, especially in the desire to find great, obscure albums. I only imagined the two to get along, not really argue (though it's probably just a vocal minority bothering to incite the other anyways)

this isn't /rym/ we aren't slaves to the website
I don't have like half of the albums I've listened to catalogued/rated

as many memes and off topic discussions take place here, I do think more stimulating musical discussion occurs here than on the majority of the board, and certainly /rym/

please go back to your own thread now
we're happy being contained ad so should you
>>
>>66414973
Well yeah but like I was saying, we share a huge common interest in finding worthwhile, obscure albums. I hope eventually one day we can both just work together to keep great and overlooked albums surfaced.

t. embryo
>>
>>66414916

because half of you are literal embryos. underage and less than 2,000 ratings (seriously, how do you people think it's ok to post a rym with less than 2,000?). half of you apparently think that Natural Snow Buildings, Yanka Dyagileva, LRD, Keiji Haino, Gorguts, etc. are "obscure" and "patrician" when the RYM hierarchs that you droned them from thought they were passe years ago

>>
>>66414990
I've graduated college lad; your baseless accusations have no merit.
Sure, a few posters are probably underage, but is that really exclusive to this thread?
I've often found people to accuse others of being underage to be in the 16-18 year old range, where they've finally broken through to adulthood and can now utilize the insults they've been dealt throughout their adolescence.
We're just a group of people that enjoy musical discussion, lad.

nobody claims any of those artists are obscure. Yes people do generally like them around here, but unlike /rym/ there isn't an aura of pretentiousness and constant insecurity surrounding your taste that constantly reinforces the outdated and idiotic pleb/patrician dynamic.

lots of pretty melodies, vocals are nice, but very unremarkable. the songs all just kinda blended together, and it overall just seems like a bit of a ripoff of Trixie's Big Red Motorbike, but not as cute and not as awesome melodically. still a nice comp though, would recommend to any twee fan.

This thread is funny. I don't get why people argue over such pointless things when they're sober.

Anyways, I thought I'd share some thoughts on the second Bolt release I heard of the Winterreise interpretation. Unlike Joanna, Barbara and Emilia actually perform most of the liedern. The interpretation varies from one piece to another but I felt like the standard vocalist/pianist is a better choice for this endeavour. Pani Majewska did a really good job with switching her styles of vocal performance, bringing more energetic, almost childish performances on some of the tracks and solemn, serious ones too. Emilia sounds fitting too, especially on the hazy Die Nebensonnen. This one was one of my favorites.

When listening to Winterreise performances, I always look forward to Der Leiermann because not only it is my favorite from this cycle, but also because it is always interesting to see how the performer will interpret this image of a hurdygurdy player on the cold streets with a smile. Quasthoff does a great one from what I heard and I didn't mind Sokolowska's performance either from 2 days ago. The version on this record features slow and grave solo piano performance that lasts 11 minutes. I thought it was really good. I had my doubts whether or not the absence of a vocal performer would stick, but the fact that the piano persistently keeps pushing this damnation upon the listener made me really enjoy this.

I think I prefer this one to the other Bolt release. I believe there was another one,so I'll try to track it down.

Thanks for the upload Gauss!

Listening to Vibracathedral Orchestra's Joka Baya. Beautiful, free folk album that is much more set in psychedelic rock than I originally anticipated. The textures are grand and always moving, the reason being that a multitude of instruments are being used at a time, with some incorporating a drone (namely the accordion and organ) while a majority playing on a whimsical sense of adventure. The tone is definitely a warm one, and I can see myself coming back to this band more in the future

Also in in love with a woman
Let me describe her
She is blonde
She is DFC
Her personality is so unique that i know no Girl is like her
She is the most beautiful Girl in existence
I think about her everyday
She rejected me 2 years ago
I know She doesn't want anything with me
But i still want her
In fact, i know all Girls are subpar compared to her
I don't actually love her, but the remants of my love are there still burning
I don't know
I just feel pathetic knowing She doesn't love me, and that She will never love me

Is there a reason /daily/ has been this prone to drama lately? Anyway:

>Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats - Blood Lust
This is everything a good stoner rock record should be and more. The drums pummel, the guitars are so hilariously blown out that they start to resemble black metal buzzsaws, the bass is prominent and the vocals are so nasal (and shittily EQ'd) they sound like they could cut glass. It's a horror-themed lo-fi riff fest that simply rips in every possible way. The cheesy harmonized lead guitars that pop up every now and then were a nice touch.

>Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
When I first heard Slanted & Enchanted I was mostly just disappointed that there wasn't another Summer Babe on that record. In the meantime I've grown to appreciate Slanted for its chaos, but Crooked Rain confirms that these guys can write a mean pop tune too. It's just so hooky and fun while still retaining some of the madness and spasticity of the debut. Cut Your Hair, Gold Soundz and Silence Kit in particular are just amazing.

btw idk if you guys can help me here but this is something I want figure out

last night I had a dream, and in it I remember hearing some weird version of There is a Light That Never Goes Out. I could have made it up in my head but that's kind of unlikely

it was pretty much the same, but the chorus didn't have the strings and instead the chorus was focused on the bass riff, while the guitar was playing a high pitched riff

does anybody know of a alternate version or something like that?

I wrote a thingy on LRD today, will post when it maybe gets published

The Doors - Strange Days
this was pretty good, not as good as their debut, which I don't think they ever topped, but very nice
I feel like a hipster now because I've listened to an album by The Doors that is not The Doors
Jim Morrison makes it man, the band would probably be not half as good without him

The Sound - Jeopardy
Really good, very bassy, nice
especially liked the first track
Very ahead of it's time, reminds me a heap of what Fugazi were doing, the production especially is excellent

what next?
>>
>>66424039
>dub shit
triggered
the best dancehall was made between 82 and 89
>>
>>66424399
I feel like I'm the only one who prefers Strange Days over their debut

When the Music's Over is like 90% of that equation

>Jim Morrison makes it man
Ray Manzarek is at LEAST just as important to the Doors' sound, if not more
>>
>>66424480
yeah, you're probably right, that electronic organ is pretty iconic
>>
>>66424399
>>66424480
Strange Days is honestly just as good, but a lot of the songs on the debut are more immediately catchy. Both have pretty remarkable staying power, though.

>Ray Manzarek is at LEAST just as important to the Doors' sound, if not more

>>
>>66424399

>>66424480

Agree, but Krieger is as important as Morrison and Manzarek. Without him there would be no spanish tinges in The Doors' music.
