Biggest problem of quite a few is it's way too heavily focused on modern shit.
How do you make a black metal list with jack shit from the 2nd wave? No Burzum (and yet there's Galdr, which is a shameless Burzum close), no Darkthrone (and yet he includes stuff like Satanic Warmaster and Sargeist), no DMDS, nothing. These are no-brainers.
It doesn't stop there, at least 75% of that list is post-2010 black metal.
There's only one Deathspell split too, which is weird considering the rest of the list contains a ton of heavily DSO-inspired stuff and is basically a "I listen to black metal and my intellect is FUCKING superior" starter kit. Maybe they're too mainstream.

As time goes on, and the metal subgenres in general incorporate more modern influences, the raw kvlt shit from the 90's turns off more people from the genre if it's what they hear first.
I think it's okay to start people off on some modern bands, and ease their way to the second wave stuff. That's how people I know have gotten into Black Metal.

There's a problem with that, and it's not even the fact that he never _does_ ease into second-wave stuff (so anyone actually following his retarded chart is left to find all the giants of the genre on their own).
The problem is that it's not really an intro to black metal chart; it's an intro to 2010s artsy-fartsy smart-black. Not that most of the albums there aren't good, but you're listening to one particular scene and style over and over and claiming to be giving an introduction to black metal.
