The power metal scenes aren't as tied together as people make them out to be; the scenes all have had different influences, USPM stemming from NWOBHM, EUPM stemming from speed metal, and JPM stemming from a mishmash of glam/shock rock and prog; and even in the modern power metal scenes you can tell that EUPM embraces hansen whereas JPM embraces malmsteen. shame USPM is largely dead though.
