>fully recap and retube her
I came, well worth the effort though,
I'm working on a 32/24 analogue desk currently.
recapping heaven.
>>
>>63431572
noice! i don't find recapping fun at all but it'll be worth it for sure. the kit's only about $100 from Goff, but replacing the full forest of tubes is probably gonna be a few hundred. blah.

but, the M100 cost about $7k back in the 60s which is about $50k in today's money (much more if you count cost of living incease and not just inflation) so it's worth saving. these motors and wheels are engineering perfection.

Why did you make this an Open Source production thread? Why didn't you just make a regular production thread?

Production General.

Recorded another song, a cover of Gordon Lightfoot's Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Used my Fender acoustic, my vocal cords and a Blue Snowball microphone. Not too shabby I think, for a 50 dollar mic!

Critique is more than welcome, I need to work on mixing and mastering live recordings. I've got direct inputs and electronic music down but vocals and instruments are another story. What can I improve? What sounds good? Is the production overall garbage, or fairly decent?

Was it yourself who posted earlier with the first attempt with this mic, then another with a blanket over your head?

If so, then your vocal recording has already progressed really well - acoustic guitar recording will need some more work but I'm sure you'll get there, cardioid pattern on your mic will help since there's a lot of reflections in your space causing comb filtering on the higher frequencies and you might even be best getting some heavy drapes to hang around where you sit with your guitar.

My friend who records a lot of acoustic guitar in his songs attached a horseshoe-shaped rail to his ceiling and hung real heavy material that reached the floor so he could pull the drapes out of the way when he wasn't using them - it's not as good as a treated booth but it's part of the way there.
>>
>>63434441
Yes, that would be me. Funny enough, I recorded without a blanket over my head this time. I'll consider something like that for the acoustic guitar. So the higher end is sounding bad to you? Could it be that I'm panning multiple guitar tracks and delaying them slightly to make it fuller sounding? Is that just sounding bad?

Also, I think I blew my fucking speakers bro. I was just listening to one of the beats I made earlier and it's buzzing like a mother fucker. I don't know if it's something to do with my sound card or what cause songs on my PC aren't doing it but fuck man, I really hope they aren't blown. I didn't turn them up any louder than I normally would.
>>
>>63434628
I honestly don't know that it's my speakers actually....like, it's playing HORRIBLY glitchy and distorted and shit almost like it's my soundcard or something. I am going to try restarting my PC and see if that fixes it...
>>
>>63434695
It's the driver....for some reason when I go past a certain volume on my PC it turns into a distorted piece of shit. When I tried switching to the driver in MusicBee it told me there was a "BASS ERROR". It only turns to shit when I raise the volume in the channel mixer to 100%. If I lower it to 90 and turn my speakers up it works perfectly fine

What the fuck is going on?
