Littlest Pet Shop Premiere is actually fun and cute
Not bad.
Pretty inoffensive. I appreciated that it wasn't all conflicty. Still could have used a little more stuff happening, particularly in the first episode. It didn't feel rushed though, which is a change of pace for the 2 parters.
The baby was basically what I expected from the trailer, but at least it wasn't awful. I didn't even really dislike it in the episode, I'm just still not really cool with its existence. The name is actually pretty okay though, with the episode behind it.
I was worried Sunburst was going to be really annoying, but he wasn't that bad. His voice was appropriate and the magic savant with no magic thing is pretty neat.
Starlight is likable so far. Her character shift still feels a little abrupt, but that's just leftovers from the finale. I'm curious how much focus she gets over the rest of the season now. I liked her interactions with Spike, it lets him seem a little more mature and knowledgeable than when he interacts with the main 6 because he has someone more junior than him around. I hope they keep their relationship like that instead of just dropping back into butt monkey Spike.
Celestia and Luna got lines, which is all you can really hope for with them.
Twilight's Parents did too, but I can't even remember what they sounded like now. I guess that means they weren't terrible.
Shining and Cadence have really grown on me since their introduction, Shiny in particular. They actually feel like natural inclusions in the episodes that are about them now.
The main six didn't get a huge amount of focus, even Twilight who had a pretty large role didn't get an opportunity to really be the main character. But that has been the direction the series has been taking, I don't really mind it for things like this, but I'm looking forward to the more normal episodes. The gifts were a nice touch though I wish they had all had something.
Overall 6.5/10, but a pretty kind 6.5
Episodes sucked, also pink 'em.

Overall it was pretty good. I'm okay with Flurry Heart so long as she basically doesn't appear again (she's so much like a fan-made OC that it's cringe to watch her). It was pretty easy to ignore her this ep.
Favorite part was Sunburst and Starlight, by far. His situation hit a little too close to home (which I'm sure the writers knew would happen with a lot of people watching). Those two interacting made the ep, Spike wasn't too annoying, and the Mane 6's roles were mostly forgettable.
7/10 I guess. Not terrible like S4's premiere, but Sunburst is really the only thing about this ep I actually want to reappear.
