The challenge is that one of those plots is entirely in flashbacks. Flashbacks are pretty hard to do and moreso when there's a lot of them. There's also the issue of which plot is the focus of the story: the flashbacks and how the bad future came to be, or the psychological issues the character's going through from the flashbacks? Try and give them both equal time is going to really bog things down.

It's almost Harvesttide (pony Thanksgiving, apparently), and Rarity invites everybody under the sun for dinner: her parents; his parents; Sweetie Belle; Uncle Topaz, Aunt Periwinkle, and their son Persian Onion; her mentor and her mentor's son; and Derpy's kids (but not Derpy herself). She has some trouble figuring out what to cook:
>“Well, I guess there goes the rose and dandelion casserole,” she sighed. “I’d forgotten that Uncle Topaz is allergic to dandelions.”
…for about 30 seconds, before her and Silversteel come up with a plan.
The only real conflict goes like this:

>Silver matched the move instantly and the two hoofs connected in a hoofbump, the two stallions putting their muscle into it, either vying for dominance or trying to show their primacy in the most infantile manner possible.

I think about 25% of the chapter is spent on this stupidly over-the-top version of the standard "overly protective father" trope. I hope the Weatherponies get it together soon.

Hey /mlp/, I've been trying to find some old pony fics that I remember reading but I can't remember their titles. I probably bookmarked them on my old computer but it's been broken for years now. I'm gonna describe the fic and tell me if anything rings a bell.
Okay so the premise was Twilight goes around murdering the rest of the mane six in order to absorb their power. And to do that she has to kill them in a way that is the opposite of their element of harmony. So she kills Dash through Betrayal, Applejack through Deception, Pinkie Pie through Horror, Rarity through Greed (I think). And then she goes to kill Fluttershy through Cruelty butFluttershy sets a trap for her with an older and more powerful Spike. Twilight gets killed and Fluttershy absorbs the remaining magical energy to become an Alicorn. And then I think their was a sequel with time travel where Twilight tries to go back in time and do it again.
I know it might be silly, but I just can't remember what it was called and the new episode got me thinking about it. If anyone remembers, give me a heads up.

First of all, the obvious snowball effect. Secondly, I view the whole episode as multiple instances of Flashpoint Paradox, in case people here know what that is. In short - the act of travelling through time and changing something creates changes not only via what was changed, but also just creates a ripple effect that can change completely unrelated things, which is the only way I can explain the fact that different timelines had different rulers.

There isn't really much to support this theory, I think that it is more likely that she had chosen Ponyville as a place to reside in because of Sugarcube Corner, and an idea of the linked destinies of Mane 6 making her stay there. We did see that they often showed up in pairs in the alternate timelines.

The green salve doesn't do too much to explain things, in my opinion. I can definitely accept it existing as a way of revealing changelings (and I am kinda disappointed that we didn't get to see any of that), but it having the side effect of just casually revealing that some ponies are from a whole another timeline? Seems kind of far fetched.
And even though Zecora seems to be portrayed as a wise mentor figure with a lot of knowledge, I still find it weird how easy it was for her to assume things that just happened to be right. Also her rhyming is mediocre and somewhat tired as a gimmick, which also took me out a bit, but that's just nitpicking.

Assuming that her talent is making others happy (I know it's vague as heck), working in a bakery could definitely be a promising prospect for her, since she didn't know much of her life, and Cakes could have been a kind of necessary parental figures, making it a more attractive option for her. Didn't she say it reveals their true nature? It probably shows the real creature underneath, but in Twilight's and Spike's case, it revealed they're their real selves from the REAL timeline, the one that was supposed to happen.

I really see this as just discussing, instead of arguing. I do love you guys and this has always been my favourite place to talk about ponies, save for real life, but that's got it's own drawbacks. I think that the salve is a weird plot choice, and I don't think that it should have made Spike and Twilight glow like that, since they are not really masking their identities. The arc I was talking about, the crossover with The Best Night Ever, had her be unable to find it for a very, very long time. After a while, she just dropped the whole search and did her best to try and live her life with Blueblood, knowing tomorrow will never come.
As I was saying, it was pretty cool.She's also enslaved in some other universe for about a year by a really fucked up creature called Maestro, which required its slave maids to not make a single noise in his house while they were cleaning up, or else he would kill them. If I remember correctly, his "concerts" were implied to be ponies being brutally murdered.
I've been thinking a bit after watching the season finale.
We've seen Starlight fight Twalot that time they returned, only to have RD not do the rainboom because she was distracted.
We saw that both were completely exhausted at the end of the fight, which isn't nothing, considering we have an unicorn in her late 30s-40s fighting a young prodigy alicorn.
How powerful is Twalot then? It could mean she's much less OP than we could have previously thought her to be.
