I think Starlight's little village is isolated enough for her not to become a problem. However the staff of sameness doesn't actually do anything as its Starlight's own spell the does the whole 'cutie unmarking' thing.
Manos could send some ponies to Starlight and perhaps she could disappear in the middle of the night. We could use a spell like that but all we need to do is learn it. Further more if we captured this little town it'd be the perfect remote re-education facility or even a place to keep some troops in case of a rainy day. The fact that shit like that went down there unchecked before Twilight went there is proof enough ol' sunbutt doesn't really monitor some parts of Equestria.

Another thing that should be noted is that if towns like Starlight's exist, there could be other little isolationist villages out there in Equestria where Celestia's sun don't care to shine. In most cases these are the perfect little ponies and places to sweep up into Manos' hands. HE could have more of a presence in Equestira.
Another thing I've been curious about is how large of a role espionage is gonna play in the Equestria-Reich conflict. Manos has his security down pat to where only his most loyal have access to the sensitive stuff like R&D where as Manos has followers in seemingly every level of Equestrian government if Silver Valor is anything to go by.
Do you think its possible for Manos to be infiltrated with the way things are? How much information do you think Manos could draw out if he really wanted it?

I always think about that. It's best that security measures in Manos' Reich be upgraded. With Celestia becoming more and more aggressive in her negative stance towards Manos it's not unreasonable to suspect that she will sic her sister's Nightwatch spies on him, and her Daywatch double agents. possibly in the future: sidearms adapted to ponies, and a rough idea on how to make a mg34, though no actual testing as of yet.
