I actually think it's one of the worst Showa series. The lead actor is good and charismatic, but the show gets way too tied by a formula, with a random child or Rider Scout seeing a monster, no one believing them, and V3 coming to the rescue.
After episode 30 or so, new commanders for the next 10 or so episodes who are completely crazy and cheesy. The infamous flying squirrel corpses bit is from this part, I actually preferred that run to the earlier one, although they're generally seen negatively.
Rider 1 and 2's return in the later episodes is also wasted with a completely plot irrelevant 2 parter, unlike most later Showa era crossovers.
The last 4th of the show with Riderman is pretty good though. He's a fairly dynamic character who has a constant character arc up to the ending, both on his own and also in relation to V3, so things are always moving.

I'm quite curious to see what the next gimmick is, since when Ghost was coming out, they mentioned "Idols" as the gimmick, which made me thing of SD versions of Forms/Other Riders as Tiki Idols, but the Eyecons came out much better.

1) even though KR actors usually have a martial arts bg, they're rarely super good at it and even if they are eg Masahiro it's probably not in their paycheck so they probably wouldn't do it unless they really wanted to. It's exhausting after all. Seems a lot more common in sentai though so I'm presuming KR actors either have more pull or sentai actors are more frequently chosen with their athletic ability in mind.
2) risk of injuring them. Actors are products after all, their management doesn't want to deal with things like that & probably bans a lot of them from stunt work, also Toei is cheap as fuck
3) a lot of riders are SUPPOSED to be fucking pussies outside of their suits and have just had the power to fight thrust upon them
4) not sure how it works in tv, but in theatre if main actors had to learn the fight choreography it would take twice as long to rehearse and shoot instead of blocking out all the face actors' scenes while blocking the fights separately, same as how a chorus line can get three dance routines down in a week but a single routine involving the main characters take months because they're too busy doing other shit
