I live in Britcuckistan where most firearms are illegal and those that aren't are extremely hard to get.

On the plus side though, a lack of gun culture means that almost everyone can't tell the difference between an airsoft weapon and the real thing.
Aim an airsoft at someone here and they'll probably still shit themselves and run.
>>
it cost A LOT of money in my country to own an handgun and you are required to have a strong reason( example: own a jewelry).
Same goes for long knives. Small knives can cost something like 30 € which is annoying but i am tihnking about purchasing one.

Pepper spray is too gay for me, but i could think about it even if it sounds like it has to be extremely limited in strenght in my country.

Funny story: when i was 17 i bought a cheap butterfly knife ( actually illegal in my country) in Romania for like 5€, smuggled it in and hid it in a box of old markers ( my mother is extremely paranoid about alcohol and weapons). Years later i had to cross daily a very infamous zone of the city to get to my gym so i decided to carry the knife. The box was no longer there and when i asked my mother she said that she gifted it to the church to make the kids of the church group play.
I like to think one 12 year old boy in my town had an extra christmas that year.
>>
>>6377264
That has nothing to do with 'gun culture'. From the front airsoft guns look extremely similar to the real gun they are modelled on.

Most places in the US don't either, it's like 50 countries glued together, each is different.

Violence of all kinds have declined in the US ever since the 90's and keeps declining ever more, yet there's more guns and gun owners in the US than ever, there's more "military" style weapons in the US than ever, there's more people carrying guns than ever.

guns are cheap dude.
>you can get old handguns as cheap as $50, old revolvers work great.
>you can get used ruger 9mm's for like $200 those are great pistols for that price.
Take some personal responsibility for your safety.
The blacks had to arm themselves to get civil rights.
Why shouldn't the gays arm themselves?!
>>
>>6379483
Read the link I posted, it proves you 100% wrong.

>roughly 30 000 killed by guns each year
>about 20 000 of those are suicides
>about 9 000 of those are gang violence
>somewhere around 1 000 000 cases of successful Defensive Gun Use each year, where people fend off rapists, muggers and murderers

Guns are great for the US, over 90% of the time they're used to defend lives and property, unquestionably a good thing.

I read it, it assumes guns were needed to prevent these occurences. Say that they were not, then you only have a list of 10.000 people that are killed with gunfire of which 9k were gangs.

It's pretty clear why this is not a good source for argument.
>>
>>6379501
>>6379532
I think this guy was a bit off
when they did the statistic in 2011 it was
33k gun deahts /year
of that 2/3 were suicide so its 12k gun homicides/year
of that 2/3 were "justifiable homicide" such as self defense
that leaves us with about 4,000 gun murders in the USA each year.
>>
>>6379463
>economic advantage to arm themselves and their hordes of haters much more effectively than I can arm myself or those like me.
Or they just get proactive.
Its not hard to arm a lot of people, you can order 20 mosin nagants in a crate for like $1000
>>
>>6379532
>I read it, it assumes guns were needed to prevent these occurences
Sure works though.

>then you only have a list of 10.000 people that are killed with gunfire of which 9k were gangs
Which is really not a lot at all in a nation of 300 000 000 people, more people drink or eat themselves to death.

Gangbangers are gonna gangbang, on average, a person getting shot in the US by someone else has an arrest record somewhere around 11, as does the guy who shot him, he can't own a gun legally and didn't buy it at a store or pass a background check.
Do you think making the illegal things they do even more illegal is going to make them not do it?

>>6379551
>of that 2/3 were "justifiable homicide" such as self defense
Justifiable Homicide isn't actually all that common, 99% of the time presenting a firearm against a mugger or burglar will make them flee or surrender (because getting shot really sucks).
>>
>>6379506

Thank you.
>>
>>6379565
Mosin Nagants aren't actually quite as cheap anymore, you're looking at near $200 for a 91/30 these days.

On the flip side, a WASR-10/63 or a M&P-15 Sport is affordable and good.
>>
>>6379574
1 person shot is one too many we as a species can do better.

I'm not against gun ownership by the way, but there has to be a middle ground between "musket" and "gattling gun" that's reasonable and doesn't allow freaks to unleash hell on a night club or a school.

The real porblem facing the Americans is a social one.
>>
>>6379493
>So your relying on laws aimed to protect minorities to protect you because what guns are too expensive?
No. I am one single person and a member of a tiny minority. If extremists ganged up into an angry lynch mob they would outnumber me and all of those like be 100 to 1 and they would all be equally if not more armed than I am with more resources and more grassroots support.

This is why the concept of human rights was invented.

>Take some personal responsibility for your safety.
I literally just said I am armed.

>The blacks had to arm themselves to get civil rights.
No they had to arm themselves to protect against those who ignored their civil rights. Those who ignored those civil rights were tried in court and imprisoned in places not dominated by white supremacy that actually respected the rule of law.

>Why shouldn't the gays arm themselves?!
I never said they shouldn't. I merely disagree with you that weaponry is a substitute for government protection from angry armed mobs of people that outnumber those like me and civil rights advocacy to defend our rights and fight for our equality legally.

People like you are the types of guys who think they can rambo a horde of armed and professionally trained people determined to kill them with nary but a modified ar-15 and maybe a few old m67s they picked up from their buddy at a local surplus store.

I'm American, LGBT, and armed... but I'm not a fucking moron with delusions of grandeur from Call of Duty.

You're welcome, I love good value purchases, lots of old 'obsolete' things can be had for little money because it isn't the newest hottest thing.

If you're looking for a cheap rifle, again, the WASR-10/63 is good (if it's a new one, make sure it has the scope mount on the left side of the receiver, the old ones were garbage, and you can tell an old one from the lack of the mount).
If you're an AR person, Smith & Wesson's M&P-15 is good, as is Ruger's AR-556

>I have no experience. I need something to practice with.
Ruger MKII or MKIII $300-450 Excellent 22 pistol to learn to shoot on. 22's are small but deadly.
Ruger 10/22 excellent 22 rifle to learn to shoot on $350

SKS very reliable rifle for every purpose, learning, hunting, defense, defeating america, target shooting $350 ($175 in canada)

I would also suggest you look into revolvers.
they can be even cheaper than pistol and never jam.
Any S&W or Colt or Ruger revolver is going to function perfectly aftet that its just an issue of personal preference as to what caliber (truth is they all work so bigger is just bigger not better) size of the barrel and what not

This is a S&W 686 its a very popular model, i shoot a very similar S&W 620, it shoots .38 special or .357 magun both rounds have plenty of UMPH

this is kind of a large gun to carry around tho you might want to pick a smaller one :P

>I don't think anyone says you'll be able to fend off anything with a gun, the case is that a gun makes it much harder for someone to kill you.
My argument was that it's stupid to substitute guns and threats of violence for civil rights advocacy when you're a hated minority outnumbered 100 to 1 by people with more economic resources, weapons, and reinforcements than you'll ever have as a collective with others like you.

why are some gun calibers referred to by their inch caliber and others by their metric caliber?
>>
>>6376029
I do tho?
>>
>>6380054
Some calibers were originally popular in Europe. Some in America. Some, like the 5.56, is a NATO round. In America the .223 round, which is practically the same size as the 5.56, is only differentiated by its lower pressures and velocities. The .223 is used domestically in hunting and self-defense long arms in the U.S. while the 5.56 is used in modern service rifles like the M16, M4, G36, or others you'd see in the current war on terror.
>>
>>6380054
Because some were named by the old system and some by the new system. People can use whichever they feel like when they develop a cartridge.

.40 S&W is a reduced power 10mm Auto for example so its not just an old/new calibre thing either.

>they basically said all calibers do the shame shit
All SERVICE calibers, you know, what police and military commonly carries, with defensive hollowpoint loadings, all 9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP and .357Sig pistols, they all penetrate as deep and about as wide.

.22LR penetrates very shallowly out of a pistol barrel, and can easily be stopped by ribs or a blocking arm (stopping against the bone), it's not that people can't be killed with a .22LR pistol, it's that they're less capable than others, they can not penetrate to the FBI recommended depth.

>>6380034
>it's stupid to substitute guns and threats of violence for civil rights advocacy when you're a hated minority outnumbered 100 to 1 by people with more economic resources, weapons, and reinforcements than you'll ever have as a collective with others like you
I don't think anyone would argue otherwise.

>It doesn't matter where you live if you have enough connections
Don't get yourself v&, the ATF is known for shooting people's dogs.

>>6380054
Metric is typically from Europe and other places, caliber is often from North America, caliber is a hundredth of an inch, so .50 caliber is half an inch in diameter (this would equate to 12.7mm).

So .380ACP is often known as 9mm Kurtz or Corto (short) in some European countries, .32ACP is sometimes known as 7.65mm Browning (usually more so back in the day though).

That stuff has all largely floated together these days, but usually, the American definitions and etymology seems to be what people go by, for instance, nobody ever calls .45ACP by it's metric measurement, 11.43x23mm, because it's big damn mouthful of syllables.

When designing a new caliber, people seem to go more for a recognizable name, to differentiate them, 7.62x35mm doesn't quite sound so catchy, so it got the name .300BLK (Blackout), which is faster to type up and say, and also highlights how it's based off of the .223 Remington (5.56x45mm)
>>
>>6380158
You should mention though, most guns in the US now are made to handle 5.56 pressures so people can use whichever ammunition they want.

Not all though, important to check.

>>>6380158
You see 5.56x45mm just as often as regular .223 in the US, either as commercial loadings or as M855 military surplus (which isn't that amazing, but it's cheap).

>>6380165
See if you can get it expunged?
Otherwise, cap & ball revolvers aren't controlled as firearms and can be owned by convicts and other prohibited persons (though they will be regarded as firearms if used in the commission of a crime).

When loaded, something like a Ruger Old Army would be like any other six shot single-action revolver, just slower to reload.
With a good modern blackpowder substitute, and a good choice of .44 caliber hollowpoint bullets, it'd be roughly between a .44 Special and .44 Magnum in terms of power I'd say.
A bit big to carry concealed though.

>>6380181
If a gun is .223 Only, the manufacturer will typically state that.

Can't remember what exactly we have. Mostly shotguns and rifles like the SKS I think. I believe we only have one pistol, a glock 3rd generation I think?
While many people where I live do own guns I don't think anyone really relies them on them for protection like what the general attitude about guns is in the US, it's mostly just for hunting and recreational shooting.

Listen please faggotsan, if you want to buy a hand granade, just buy a hand granade. At least those will work when you need them to.

Buy one of the following brands:
S&W
Beretta
Glock

There is a reason these are popular old as shit brands. It's because they are dependable and they work.

Do not buy online at first and do not go for the cheapest nigger trash gun you can.

Go to a shop with at least $450 to spend on a pistol. Do not be afraid to look at used.

Pick them up, dry fire them, get a feel for them and make your purchase.

Do NOT pick up a revolver for your first. Reloading under pressure is hard enough as is without having to worry about chambering rounds.

Learn all the parts, how it functions, its quirks. How to clean and care for it.

Fire it at least once a month and at least 3 mags worth each session. Practice.

Take a course on gun safety and get your CC permit.

I hear there's a few quirks with the Norinco, like the trigger, and how the gun doesn't like LAR-15 magazines (limiting your capacity).

How's you feel it hold up?

Not an amerlidad, tho ofc there are ranges and all that. I don't think how liking them would change my opinion on civil ownership of firearms. Maybe I'd be a huge fan but that doesn't justify getting thousands of people killed a year in gun related violence.

Shame Ruger don't make these anymore.

Very well balanced, as the bolt doesn't hold all the weight it needs for blowback in itself, rather, there's a sliding weight under the barrel which the bolt tows as it recoils, giving it the mass it needs for safe blowback operation.

>>6387555
If it makes you feel any better, most Americans who get shot are criminals, getting shot by other criminals, doing criminal things.
I think a different approach to the War On Drugs would be a much better way to look at reducing gun violence in the US.

Better than getting millions of people killed like banning civilian gun ownership did in Germany, Prussia, Turkey, and India. Also, gun violence is a terrible indicator due to defensive gun use, police gun use, and suicides are added variables. If you really want to get to the nitty gritty then you have to compare it to violent crimes or homicide.

I know that feel. I'm for restricting them into oblivion, but fuck if I don't admire the hell out of the engineering that goes into them.

They made it in 9mm as well, quality is pretty good, as Ruger is.

Honestly, while .40 isn't much of a difference to matter in a pistol with regular loads, from a carbine barrel, they wouldn't be too shoddy.

They're just regular Ruger pistol mags, one of the selling points was that if you already had a Ruger pistol with magazines, you didn't really need to buy new magazines. They did however stop making it due to poor sales.

Gonna be honest though, would love to see something similar done using Glock magazines (like, shipping with a 17rd or 20rd mag standard, for a lower profile, and 10rd mags for ban states).

Then maybe make it locked breech and have the bolt impact a buffer in the rear of the receiver, like on a B&T, if it can be done cheap enough, just so that the recoil is nothing.

Pistol Caliber Carbines are seriously underrated weapons, even disregarding semi-auto variants of subguns.

What do you think conceal carry is?
Not that you need to be darting your eyes left and right all the time like you're Doomguy, but the idea is that if you have a gun on you and the will and skill to use it, it's a lot easier to get out of some situations unharmed. Nobody has ever said it's foolproof for anything.

Gaybashers look for easy targets, they don't want to get shot, they're just looking for an easy outlet for their irrational hatred and frustration, 99% of the time, flashing a gun at this kind of hick will make them freeze up, then do a 360 and moonwalk away (at which point you should probably notify law enforcement that there's aggressive people prowling around in the area, looking for trouble).

And yeah, it won't be as easy if someone has scoped you out and has made plans, but realistically, how often does that happen to anyone? We're basically looking at serial killer tier here. Bashers, as well as muggers and rapists, are pretty much opportunists, and you being able to fight back will radically even out the odds and make them reconsider you as a target.

Nagants are nice, because they can be had for cheap (used to be even cheaper, you could find them for less than $90 sold out of barrels in the 80's), but take into consideration that they were made in the Soviet Union (for the most of it), under basically forced labor, and were after WW2 refurbished and put into storage (because they've got this hot new SKS and AK now, see), not always in the most graceful way.

First thing to consider, they were caked in Cosmoline, a rust preventing preservative, this allows the gun to be stored indefinitely without worrying about corrosion or other wear from the elements, but it also means that sometimes when you get a 91/30, it'll never have had it's cosmoline cleaned out, and you need to do this for best results, or the action will most likely be stiff to work.

Another thing is that some springs were replaced during refurbishment, a problem I see a lot is the cocking spring being a few coils too long, which is a greatly contributing factor to the action being difficult to work (many people will say you haven't cleaned your cosmoline out properly, but the spring is often the culprit in a sticky bolt on a clean gun), either take the spring out and clip it down one or two coils on your own, if you feel the confidence to do this, or order a replacement online.

Quality wise, they're basically Carcano tier, nothing amazing, but nothing bad either, they're rough, but they're also cheap and hard to break, and with a little bit of polish they'll be alright, even if it wouldn't be quite as nice as a Mauser or Enfield.

Also toke responsibly, don't hit the pipe too hard when shooting.
>>
>>6391996
>Do you expect people to walk around everywhere with a loaded weapon on constant alert for potential threats?
Do you wear a seat belt constantly on alert for potential bomb threats? No. It's just a safety precaution and you have a leisurely drive to where you're going.
Guns aren't there to cause trouble for the average law-abiding citizen, they're just a precaution in case trouble does find them.

So, if you were to make a vanity or art piece kind of gun, with a pride theme, how would you do it? Doesn't have to be practical, just something flashy.

I figure, something really basic like a bright nickel 1911, perhaps in .38 Super (because it's an underrated old round, at least for target shooting), with laminate wrap-around, finger-grooved wood grips in rainbow colors, very plain, yet it'd stand out just enough, I'd keep the slide and frame mostly plain, to give it a clean look.

2. Local shop was selling a BMG .50, which was tempting except I was about to by a motorcycle and the gun was $2800. The rounds were $4.50 a piece. I have a motorcycle now and ride the shit out of it, but I do wish I had the funds for that firearm.

A .50BMG is probably loads of fun, but a Barrett M82 isn't the most ideal for casual long range shooting, it has an MOA of like 3 or 4, it's intended as an anti-materiel rifle after all. Also it's very expensive.

I think the bolt-action and single-shot ones would most likely have a bit better results for longer distances, while being (potentially) a lot cheaper.
You could build one using an AR-15 lower receiver as a base, but I'd make sure to use a steel lower, just to be on the safe side.

That's actually extremely rare.

Presenting a gun will often change a person's mindset from "I can take this guy" to "Oh god he can kill me, let's not!", because you don't need to be big and strong to use a gun, hence why it's an equalizer, it doesn't matter if you're a petite bottom twink, a frail old grandma, or a big fat guy who's out of breath jogging down the driveway, the gun you have is a lot more dangerous to someone looking to get at you than your own body.

Even a little .38 snub can kill a man, so it doesn't have to be big and imposing to have it's intended effect, gunshots are very dangerous, most people will try to avoid getting shot at if they at all can, even if they really hate you or really wanted your money/boypussy.
>>
>>6395656
Can confirm, in Sweden, pepper spray is a restricted weapon and you can't carry it as a civilian, and you're not allowed to carry a knife in public.

In many EU countries, basically anything which can enable you defending yourself is illegal to carry on your person, or sometimes even own.
